"Kumot" translates to "blanket" in English. The Kumot fabric is a well-known cloth from the Philippines, once commonly found in households. It's considered vintage and is deeply rooted in Filipino culture.
That's what Khianna was saying in untucked where she talk about Zymba's outfit was the only reason why she's on top because her mouth wasn't mouthing during her lip sync performance on the rusical.
And she was correct. It was just messy that she voiced out her thoughts during untucked but she did not lie. And it made good tv 👀
Honestly Khianna was absolutely right about what she said. It's just how she said it that was fumbled due to the alcohol LOL. And sadly, zimbading took it as putting her down. But it could've been valid criticism for sure.
Sad to see John go away specially with a REALLY iconic song in the Philippines

I agree on this 100%. As much as I love angel, her performance was nowhere near safe. she faded in the background vs the performances of the other girls. plus her acting was mid during that challenge. the favoritism in her is present in that very moment.

The ending line of the lipsynch translated to “… only for the wind to blow away my dreams” I felt that when John was lipsynching that last line 😭
KuHaute couture was inspired by “ KuMot” translate to “ blanket” . That type of fabric has been use by Filipinos on our pillow cases or as blanket . Typically used in provinces . The type of this fabric usually colorful witht lines or stripes with floral prints .

the season is just one of the BEST ever. no debate. AMAZING ep after ep, and its just so upsetting bc everyone now we're losing we love :( but im so happy that we get a break from the horrible monstrosity that is Global All Stars.

Khiannas earings are "katol" mosquito coil to match with her kumot couture kumot is blanket and her dress is mosquito net and she is holding chamber pot like you urinate in them because in the philippines some bedrooms dont have their own toilet and if its late at night they dont want to go out to go to the toilet outside😄
The kumot or blanket being used here is the vintage filipino style blanket popular in the 80s 90s used for sleeping even wrapping dead love ones making a comeback one designer making it couture. Hehe
When I watched this episode I was also surprised about Zymba getting the win because I felt like she was lost in the first half, almost bumping into other queens because she wasn't in sync.

Nah, Popstar was all over the place with all the unnecessary props and ruveal for a ballad lipsync. Her props are also all tangled in her face, so nah.

Zymba was actually in my bottom 3 and I would have given the win to either Myx or Tita Baby. John definitely killed that lip sync, Popstar Bench was giving Kenya Michaels on her LSFYL with Latrice (A Natural Woman) all those reveals were unnecessary and I was not feeling the emotions from her. The judging this episode was very questionable, but oh well, I'm just watching through a tiny screen, what do I know lol sksksksksks

Hi! I’m really enjoying your reaction videos. I like how you don’t hold back on what you think. I appreciate the honesty in your reactions.
Just a couple of things to provide some additional context:
12:00 Mini-challenge brief was to do do OA (over-acting) interpretation of the acting exercise lines. Zymba Ding did go for over acting with the crawling and the splits.
25:53 Kum-Haute Couture is a play on the Filipino word for blanket, “kumot”, and Haute Couture.
Basically, the challenge brief was doing blanket haute couture, but not just any blanket, they had to use a blanket with that specific floral design. It comes in green, blue, pink/rose, and orange colors. It was originally a Malaysian-print/design, but it became very popular in the Philippines and a lot of Filipino households had those blankets.
A lot of gay kids played around with those blankets, wrapping it around their bodies and pretending they were wearing dresses (or a mermaid’s tail for some). That blanket was also a nod to that Filipino queer person’s childhood experience.
27:22 Khianna’s earrings were “katol”-shaped. “Katol” refers to a mosquito coil that produces smoke which drives away mosquitos once lit. The mosquito net is called “kulambo”. It’s draped over the bed in the evenings to keep away the mosquitos when a person is sleeping during the night.
Both the use of katol and kulambo were common in Filipino households before electric mosquito lamps and electric fans/AC units were a thing here so people slept with open windows. It’s not as common in the cities now, but there are still those in the provinces/countryside who use a kulambo and a katol.
The blue pail she was carrying was an “arinola” or a chamber pot. That’s why the judges made a disgusted sound when Khianna scooped up some of the liquid to drink. The very old houses in the Philippines have a detached bathroom/water closet (located outside the main house). People kept a small pail with a lid (arinola) in their bedrooms so they can pee in it in the evenings for safety reasons so that they don’t have to go out to the detached bathroom. The pee gets disposed of and the pot gets cleaned in the morning. It‘s rarely used now. The ones who still use it now are typically the elderly with mobility issues or would need assistance just to walk to the bathroom and the ones who are just used to using it because that’s what they grew up doing.
I agree John had the better lipsync. Popstar was doing too much the emotion at the end maybe sold it for them but Johm had the precise nuances for the song which is a lot more harder

The stage presence of Khianna is unmatch eventhough she has a smaller role than ZymbaDing. To be fair, John Fedellaga was really outshine by Angel and Khianna in that performance

I love that every week, we share the same thoughts about the episode. Lowkey, Khianna should’ve been at the top with Tita Baby and Myx, with Myx finally winning. Maxie and Popstar should’ve been safe. And the remaining 3, Angel, John and Zymba should’ve been in the Bottom 3, with Zymba being saved by her outfit.

This has been the saddest elimination so far. To Popstar's credit tho, the song was a very emotional ballad and she did just that. John would often put slight comedic acts in between.

This episode being so divisive and the judges choosing the nitpicking route just means the cast are really on another level. Also to be fair with Zymba, her character really shone towards the end - which is the rusical winning formula. She did not upstage the characters at the beginning and just let them have the spotlight first and i think the judges felt that. Its her character's storyline anyway.

I also thought that Tita Baby or Myx Chanel should have won this challenge. Although Zimbading was the main character, she didn't stick out to me that much. I'm so sad John got eliminated 😭
Zymba Ding had the winning formula for the Rusical. Like you mentioned earlier, the character that comes out later with a big solo - wins the Rusical.
But then again, it is just a formula and that can’t simply be always true when it comes to performances. Additionally, that formula mainly applies for smaller roles that only appears by the end of the performance thus, the main character does not fit into that criteria. Their reasoning and logic was also valid about Zymba having the main role but was still being outshined by the other queens. No hate tho, still, congrats to Zymba for winning the challenge.

John and Bench took the polar opposite of the song’s message. The song is about a person realizing that all the promises made to him/her never came into fruition, or “gone with the wind”. John was performing it as a person who has already moved on and has forgiven the person who has done her wrong, while Bench was performing it as someone who is still heartbroken. So it really depends on how people resonate with the message of the song as to who they think did it better.

I had the exact same reaction 😢 as a musical girlie myself, I didn’t see Zymba winning this challenge tbh. I also thought she was gonna be in the bottom. Or maybe I just love Wicked so much that I had such high expectations of the lead role. And sadly, she does not know Wicked to embody Elphaba.

this episode was so ehh for me because the guest judge, although valid bc shes the winner of s1, is Zymba’s drag auntie. They are very close. Its not even far fetched to assume that she is one of Zymba’s sponsors considering Zymba has admitted she didnt pay for her runway package. I feel like its a conflict of interest. Im not saying its rigged, Im just saying regardless if it was fairly judged, it feels a little weird for me. Like if u were in a competition and u find out the judge is actually your competitor’s godfather.
