In 2012 a German athletics official was killed on the field when he went out too early and was hit by the javelin in the throat.

If you can understand physics and the parabolic path of projectiles first mentioned by Galileo, it becomes hindsight for them to understand whether or not it will be a "good" one.
Any kind of sport involving throwing or launching (javelin throw, hammer throw, discus throw, shot put etc) always requires an athlete to aim for a 45° angle with the most power as that generates the furthest range for the projectile.

@@SergeantColdgirl 45 degrees is way too high of an angle. Optimal is 30-35, due to the javelin's centre of gravity.
it’s just like shooting a basketball, after tons of repetitions practicing to throw the perfect release you will instantly know by feel that it’s going in or in javelin perspective that it was a good throw

Javelin is way harder than I expected, I practiced shot put, discus and hammer, but non was as challenging as javelin throw. I almost patted myself when I finally managed to make it land right on the tip. My best shot so far is 34m lol.

Well, these are olympian professional throwers, they are not going to hit the judges. You have like 7-10 seconds of air time on those throws. All you need to do is just side-step 3 feet to the left or right and you're good. And there's a reason why you are not on that field and they are. Because they are all current or past coaches of javelin throwers, ex amateur or professional javelin throwers themselves. Everyone knows what's at stake.

There was a javelin that actually went through an athlete's shoulder. Roman Sebrle (CZE) who was a world record holder in decathlon was pierced by a javelin whilst he was training in South Africa. The wound was 12cm deep and required 11 stitches but he only had to miss one competition.
