People persist with thinking Kristian Woolf is going to suffer as badly as the like of Demetriou and other guys who've followed Wayne as coach. They overlook the fact he won three straight Super League titles as a coach.
@@hansoloburger2322 like many teams Dolphins will need their bit of luck with injuries, suspensions, bunker, 6 agains and how their opponents perform. Any downside of performance won't be due to Woolf but the above factors. Gilbert's return will be a massive plus two new forwards replacing forwards older than them as Dolphins aging pack last year was a concern. A possible concern for them is the club is going through the regeneration stage in 2025 and it's very notable in the front row stocks more so with Flegler missing with players on the very wrong side of 30 and players still around 19-21 nothing in between except for Kerr who has been read the riot act from Woolf and the only poor trainer retained.
Justin I believe you're being really disrespectful to Kristian Woolf and what he's achieved with St Helens and Tonga and the hard road he's taken. He's only been an assistant for the previous two years and been head coaching since the interim role at the Knights. This is like disrespecting Cameron Ciraldo for being Ivan's assistant and lapdog to Gus when he's showed in the last 12 months that he's neither. Should the Dolphins struggle this year it'll be due to injuries, suspensions, bunker and 6 again calls and possibly as the squad is now part of the regeneration period with a generation gap between the current front row stocks and the next lot of front rowers they have in the system. Dolphins have safe guarded their club from what the other clubs failed to do and the Dolphins hired Bennett for different reasons to the other clubs where they wanted instant short term success and Dolphins wanted a long-term plan. Of the Dolphins Top 29 contracted players only 4 players Kaufusi, Bromwich, O'Sullivan & Graham have original contracts in place and all expire end of this year. Every other player has been signed or re-signed by Woolf making this firmly his squad. There were no clauses or gremlins that allowed Bennett to rip apart the squad you all had JMK to Souths and it never happened JMK extended his Dolphins contract way beyond 2025. Had Woolf been really nervous by the outside noise he probably chases short-term fixes instead he's been able to advance Waqa and Walsh onto NRL contracts a year early and has Rasmussen and Jackson ready for NRL deals in 2026. Woolf doesn't have the ego's or club politics to deal with like Demetriou and Seilbold, he hasn't been a perennial assistant like Demetriou or tried to big note himself like Seibold (now McGuire). Woolf had two clubs willing to sign him as head coach before he opted for the long-term option of Dolphins.
The problem with the Storm and Roosters even Canberra is... Queensland now have 4 NRL teams. When it was just the Broncos, they couldn't keep everyone thus, Canberra got them in the 90s then the Storm recruited them early and even the Roosters got some great talent. But now most of the QLD players want stay in the state whether it's playing for the Broncos, Cowboys, Titans now the Dolphins. The best talent are staying in QLD not moving south. So the talent pool is very thin now.
Eventhough the Chooks have lost some players but let’s be honest here Keary was over the hill and was nowhere near the player he was 4 years earlier, Manu for all his attacking prowess has a very average defender, Suaalii will be missed as well as the big dog ( Jared ), Sitili couldn’t get many games so he was let go and May well I am sure we will never be told. Coming in for those players Marky Mark, Billy Smith coming back, Sandon will be gaining more valuable experience, Va’a will be on the bench ( a really big boy ) Chad will be covering for Sam with his experience and helping Sandon. Rumour has it Sia Wong should have a good year, training the house down and remember a number of other young guys will get more experience as in Moriarty, Rodwell, Robert Toia just to name a few. This is a year for blooding the young guys and who knows what could happen if it all comes together.
I swear he’s the only person in media that’s predicted they will miss it, everyone else still carrying on that Roosters will win the premiership. So yeah it’s a pretty bold prediction. Uncle Nick will have him disappear in the next 24 hours for that comment though
Hey Team, Just my opinion but I think this podcast is the best NRL program available to anybody in the world. Keep up the great work.

I totally agree. I posted a comment about Woolf please find it :)

Top 4 spine and a ball playing Radley at lock. 2026 already looking good.

Think Dolphins have a good year. As for other QLD NRL teams (Broncos, Titans and Cowboys), don’t think they’ll make the top 8!
