Vice Presidents rarely make any impact on the presidential race. At most, they tend to be little more than a bit of pandering to their home state (Vance is from a state where Trump is more popular than he is, so it's not that), or they're a signal. An extremist might pick a moderate as a signal. But those signals tend to not last very long. Vance was most likely picked for one reason - he passed the loyalty test. Trump was furious that Pence didn't go along with his election stealing scheme in 2020. He wanted someone who WOULD. Not that the exact same situation would come up (it can't because of term limits), but just someone loyal enough that they WOULD go along if asked. Abortion is just a distraction by the democrats, as long as the US has a conservitive Supreme Court, that issue will remain as is no matter what party gets elected. And no one on the SC is retiring anytime soon, not in this cycle. The Economy and Immigration policy are the main concerns of this election. Like in Europe, swing voters are going to be far more concerned by the economy and immigration issues than on abortion and are willing to hold their nose and vote Trump unless rather than holding their nose to vote Harris (both are hideous choices) Some states allow abortion and some states do not. If you want an abortion, just travel to a state where you can get one, not a problem.
Abortion is not really an issue in Europe. In Europe there are sane abortion (and gun) laws.

Further, just google JD Vance foreword. He goes out of his way to write the forewords for explicitly anti-democracy books, alongside himself picking weird reactionary fights (i.e. against stepparents and people without children, wanting to actively subsidize gas cars and implement a big tax on electric ones, etc.)
He doesnt really have any legislative successes for his base to rally behind, isnt changing the working class (doesnt even support PRO act) or young people's support... and a lot of moderates see his views and find him odd, at best

In modern American politics, a presidential candidate's VP pick matters as an insight into his (or her) judgement. Trump has displayed poor judgement. His pick weakens rather than widens his potential to persuade voters that he should again be the President of the USA.
ya, that's not how vp picks work. Biden picked the least popular primary candidate over about a dozen more popular options. the democrat voters massively disliked Harris up until 3 weeks ago. so how does your reasoning jive with that?
