    I completely followed every word and you gave excellent instructions. I have watched every available video on the Pierce dump kit. Your video was one of the most thorough. My '96 F250 4x4 will soon have a dump kit installed and you helped me more than you ever will know. I am a Vietnam Era Veteran and my truck is my one sinful guilty pleasure. I built, rebuilt, restored and refurbished the entire truck from front to back. I intermittently know every last nut, bolt and screw. It is a work of art and a rolling sculpture. She deserves a dump bed and she is going to get one. THANK YOU !!!!

    **UPDATE** I have since taken this OFF my very expensive truck :) After having a heavy load of wet dirt in my bed the lift started to lift the Belly of my bed but couldn't lift the load...this then about buckled my bed floor. The DUMP KIT is rated to lift 4,000 lb...your truck bed floor is Not. Due to the design of truck bed they only have cross supports, the only length ways support comes from the ribs of the bed floor itself...so not completely the kits fault but still. I will be making a dump bed out of a 78' C20 8' bed. I plan to weld up a steel frame to mount this kit on and then put that under the bed, that will make a nice sturdy dump bed and worse case scenario i fold that bed i can put any junkyard 8' bed on.

      I removed the factory braces on the bed and built a full frame .I posted a short video of it. you can see what I did on it. I have since sand blasted the frame and all and rust proofed and coated

      Saw that coming a mile off.
      The bed has all those supports for a reason. Also, drilling your frame/chassis is a huge DON'T, if it was ok to have a hole there then it would already be there.

    I don't know about dumping but hauling material a half ton could haul one ton.a 3/4ton could haul 2ton that's what I put on them at the sand and gravel company I just always asked them if they checked the air in there tires many said yes put material on tires go down lucky we had a compressor at the business so if you hauling something only takes a minute to check air pressure in tires save a lot of headaches in the long run now if you have overload springs then that's up to you but don't push it be safe than sorry better to make another load than be broke down 2:25

    Great video my man. Very detailed and much better than the video the manufacturer has. Mines almost done, deciding what to do about the bumper and hitch..... if I find a better way to do it I'll come back and explain in the comments.

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a video of a company that inverted the bumper and basically hollowed it out and also knotched out around the receiver. A lot more work but the only way I can see to have the bumper on and not in the way while still having the receiver mounted in stock location... This allowed the bed to tilt with the tailgate down and not hit the bumper at all.

    Try some nylon washers on that ram pin to help keep the bed center. they will provide a smoother wear and tear. They make all kinds and shapes of nylon hardware. Nylon is tuff and won’t rust.

  • @reidgleason7862
    @reidgleason7862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would rather go with a dump insert it might be slightly more expensive and weigh more but it's way more heavy duty then the bed of a truck. I don't have to weld supports on my bed. If my truck breaks I just put the insert in a different truck. They can usually lift more weight. They can also hold more material like mulch which doesn't weigh near as much as say rock. This kit still makes it easier then doing it by hand though. Good stuff!

    • @reidgleason7862
      @reidgleason7862 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also forgot to mention, this kit may void the warranty to the truck since it is modifying it. For some people this is a big issue.

    • @rednecktech82

      After pump location absolute biggest issue you will have is figuring out what to do with your bumper if you keep your receiver on the truck. I have yet to trim out my bumper so the bed tilts without interfering with hitch receiver so for now receiver is off the truck.

    Very smart. Mechanical assemblies need to be used. The homemade bracket needs sand blasted and powder coated though... 🤔🙂 but.... who doesn’t pull with a truck? A truck is for hauling and pulling. I personally tried to pull the hinges off of hell, so pulling is a necessity. 🤪

    That was great. I’m looking to get a truck for my contracting work. Using the truck bed for tools. Though when not hauling tools, I have many loads to the dump, and some (light duty) up to 1yrd gravel loads, I’m hoping an F150 will do the trick with an added dump kit. Thanks for that great video!

    I just installed this kit on my 1990 Chevy K2500. I also don’t like the wire cable support, and I plan to install a square tube support like you did. The challenge is designing it to clear the rear differential if/when the frame drops down low enough for the bumpers to hit the diff. Does your rear diff hit that bar when your suspension is maxed out?

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No but if you do crazy off roading which I don't recommend with a dump bed kit installed anyway you could simply move that support forward or backward of that rear diff. a bit more.

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      13:00 i cover the bumper... You're essentially welding the bumper brackets to the blue swivel brackets of the lift kit. By doing this though you will not be able to have a hitch receiver on your truck as the bumper interferes with and would hit it.

    Ok.. I have dump trailers and use them daily so I want to see this out in the field working. Now we all know the ground is never level at the landfill, so I want to see this performing on a hillside on uneven ground. Does the bed have alot of twist when loaded 3-4k lbs ? For some reason I truly believe it would have alot of twist in it and would not work properly..

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you're right on, to a degree. This will flex more than an actual dump trailer as no pickup bed is going to be as solid or rigid as a dump trailer. If your load is uneven, which you should obviously try to avoid, then yes the bed would twist...a lot. Now where this kit it is very capable of it's rated capacity your pickup bed is NOT rated for 2 ton. I about buckled the bed on my Super Duty with a HUGE load of rain soaked dirt and so have since taken this kit off my truck. As far as a hill, no dump bed, dump trailer or even dump truck should ever be used on any degree of slope or uneven terrain as it's extremely dangerous and so that comparison is irrelevant in my opinion.

      If you weld the bumper brackets to the pivot points of the bed it's just as strong as a regular bumper but I would not tow with it. Again, it does interfere with your receiver hitch though which seems to be a big holdup of this entire kit.

    I run a small landscaping business and was thinking about this over a dump insert. Is there any concerns to structure damage of the truck using this constantly over a dump insert?

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No long term concerns you just have to be careful that you absolutely do not exceed the weight capacity because once I did like I said it started lifting up the belly of my bed and almost folded my bed in half but if you are just doing light material it's absolutely a better option over a dump insert that is 800 extra pounds in the back of your truck everywhere you go and cost twice as much.

You WILL need to do some fabricating, welding and have some basic common sense. This is far from a bolt on kit out of the box. Number one complain is bumper...you either lose your tow receiver or have to get creative with making a custom bumper...dump bed MAY clear bumper if you removed your tailgate every single time you wanted to use it?

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      agreed, I put a 4x4 under the bed while working on it. Dump drivers biggest issues are loads STICKING to the bed...then once raised it throws off the trucks center of gravity and topples them.

  • @bacalhau75
    @bacalhau75 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It won't lift 4000lbs. The scissors wouldn't bolt dead on center and that said it would lessen the lift weight. The most I got to lift was around 3000lbs which includes the bed. 1 ton truck, I got about 1.5ton on gravel and it would not lift :( 2500 was OK.

    • @rednecktech82
      @rednecktech82  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1
