    Absolutely nailed the tone. I always thought Mick Taylor played on this one. Stoked to hear it's Bowie though.

      no it's is Mick Taylor playing lead and fancy bits apart from Keith doing the Chuck Berry stuff 🙂

      Bowie sang background vocals that’s it. Wood played the guitar on the initial recording. Keith wipes all the guitars and he and Taylor re recorded them. Wood always says Keith forgot to take out an acoustic guitar that wS on there too.

    wow, another cool tune! I've learned a lot from watching you play. I don't have a need for all the musical terminology and theory, I just play for me, and like guitars. Following your fingering can be daunting at times, but I manage. Thanks for all the videos you've posted.

    Your lessons are the most fun. You cut right to the chase, and always get the "feel" across. I had never heard that Bowie played on this. Where did you hear that? I hope it's true. That makes me love the song even more.

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Philip Heying It came from a demo recorded by Mick, Bowie, Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones on drums. Keith overdubbed the lead fills, but I'm pretty sure Bowie's guitar and Kenny's drums are on the final mix.

    • @fed1776
      @fed1776 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +James James I never heard that Bowie played guitar on it, only backing vocals. I thought all the guitar was Ronnies then Keith overdubbed all but Ronnies twelve string.

    • @lptomtom
      @lptomtom 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wikipedia says the only contribution by Bowie on the track is the backing vocal

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ronnie did an interview recently and said it was him on the 12-string. He said Keith meant to wipe it and replace it, but he never got around to it.

    Wasn't the Bowie thing with this song a myth? Like they cut virtually everything he did (guitar, backing vocals) from the final cut?

  • @johndonnellan5794
    @johndonnellan5794 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wasnt it initially Ron Wood playing the guitar on this before he joined the stones with Mick and then Keith was added in later

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes.

    • @bigtip8371
      @bigtip8371 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and also Ron Wood basically wrote this song and black limousine but Mick "negotiated" and took the song as writing credit with Keith and gave Ron Wood writing credit on Black Limousine. It's also why you see him singing the chorus during the 75 shows when they did this live together on the microphone.. it was really a Ron Wood song.

    What audio track are we hearing? Is it the actual demo?

    • @jamesjames9275
      @jamesjames9275  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's from the promo clip, a live vocal over a newly recorded backing track (although once the bubbles start, Mick's ad libs are from the recorded backing track).
