I just love that second field. I'm watching a lot of haymaking videos recently and they take them back to my childhood. My great-uncle who farmed the family farm (we lived on it) made us go round the edges with a pitchfork to gather the hay these tedders tend to throw into the hedges and add them to the windrows. I don't see anybody doing that anymore. We had a curved two pronged pitchfork for loose hay and a square two pronged pitchfork for bales. My father used to be able to lift and throw up a bale (of course traditional square bales) to the top of the trailer where my grandfather (Taid as we called him in Wales) and I were ready to place them in the same pattern as every year. My great uncle also had kept an old rake with steel wheels which he used to rake the whole field after baling and we got as much as 5 to 10 more bales depending on the size of the field. That rake is still on the farm which now belongs to my father.

Sorry for laughing but that bale rolling down in the woods, priceless! We're not laughing at you, we're laughing with you. It's tough out here, every day has its ups and downs in farming. Hang in there and keep providing that high quality hay.

I came to watch you bale hay and relax after a long hot and hectic week. And of course, listen to your dissertations on this and that. I was not disappointed, funny too! ( whoa bale whoa ! and roll that bale roll! ). Your words about the work your doing, the weather around you, the people you know and your family, coupled with the videos of you working at an interesting job are indeed pretty relaxing. Thanks for taking the time to make these. ( I think we all learn a lot about farming, tractors, baling.....and hay)

@@DLHFarms Every once in a while, after a difficult day of work, dealing with many people and their problems here, its good to sit and watch you do whatever you do and just talk about whatever. The scenery where you live is nice, the slow unrolling, ( yes its a pun) of your work and the tidbits of tractors, balers, hay ( of course), family and weather is like a good book..relaxing. I had the same problem with storms when I was baling last week. I had dark clouds and lightning dancing all around me. Just kept praying an not a single drop fell. It was raining just down the road from the fields I had down. Ended the day with 98 bales... raked and baled alone, so I feel your pain.

@@nicholasbrown7068 as you should. That transmission gets under appreciated by those that havent given it a fair chance. It's hard to beat all those gears at your disposal. He mentioned the other tractors have more "bells and whistles" but to be honest that's all there are. It's just.bling that adds cost, but doesn't get the job done any quicker, better, or more efficiently. I bet once he puts some real hours on that tractor, he is going to have a hard time buying red or blue without looking real , real hard at what green brings to the party.
