    Just subscribed to your channel, we farm in Staunton, Va.. Was listening to your accent and you sounded alot like a buddy of mine I went to college with. He is from Floyd Co. around Willis. His name is Kevin Keith. Also a farmer, runs beef farm in that area. Your channel is great, glad to see you put real farming out there. Thanks

      +Shaun Thompson. Kevin Keith, I know him well! As a matter of fact I just done a lot of filming on his farm over in Floyd, he hired me to help him square bale about 16 acres of straw. Before to long you will be seeing a review of a Massey Ferguson 4710 and all of that review is filmed on his farm! Sometimes when I go to Floyd to eat out people will mistake me for him and start talking to me and I won't have a clue who they are, happened 3 times now. Lol

    nice job, I was reading your comment about getting 100 per hour that seems low for a mower that wide and tractor that large. you can do a lot of mowing in an hour. I just have a small tractor with a 5ft brush bull woods mower. I try and get 150.00 for the first hour and 65 for every hour after that. takes me longer with a 5ft unit than you can do with that beast. I sure like the idea of a cab tractor. mine is open and when you get near bees its a real fun time! lol

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +daveknowshow. Yeah I can laugh at bees, but I would never be able to get any more than $100 per hour in my community to much competition, 5 foot bushog around here goes for 35-45 an hour and everyone has one.

    That bank looked like a pain in the butt.
    7/4 I was bushhogging also, did two fields (30 acres). both had some decent hills that I'd have to go straight up or down on.
    I usually circle the field first and get the perimeter done, then section it off in 2 boxes set to my turn radius. Then take the side off one box, turn and do the same on other box side. If I'm lucky at the end I have 2 passes left to clear a section then do the next section till finished.
    Means I pass over mowed area where I did the perimeter, but saves me from cleaning up corners if I keep circling till the turns get too tight.
    Just my bush hog method.
    Oh and yeah you have a real pump for diesel. We have an orange tank and a crank LOL

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Atoyota. I guess it was a good day for bushoging! Lol! Yeah that pump is great, don't take no time to fill up our 100 gallon bulk tanks on our pickups.

    Great video. I hate doing those steep inclines. Takes to much time up. But you got to do what it takes to get the job done right. My shredding has been slow down here in so. Texas. Lack of rain.

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Chuck Stevenson. All off road gets lumped. That is a hateful little bank to mow.

      batwing mower? do you prefer it over a flail type ditch bank mower? thanks for posting video. land of the free and brave!

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Del Price. Definitely prefer the batwing, we mostly mow open fields and pasture land with ours. This was a custom job for a neighbor. The batwing can cover serious ground in a short time and do a good job.

    What’s the going rate for mowing something like that. I charge $50.00 an hr . I have a 50 hp tractor and a12 Rhino batwing. Just curious. You did a great job

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I get 75 per hour but it's a 120hp tractor and 15 foot batwing.

  • @zachshannon5605
    @zachshannon5605 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    so are those batwings designed to be able to run folded up or is it hard on em

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Zach Shannon. I don't know about all of them but mine can be run up with no problems. I use it that way sometimes to trim low tree limbs back. It's kinda dangerous though and you wouldn't want any bystanders around while doing it.

    What are your thought on the reliability of a new Holland t4.95 am looking at trading my 5525 john deere on one

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tyler Hyatt. They have thier issues but reliability is pretty good, all the problems I had with my T4 was just things that annoyed me like steering noise when hot, or the windshield wiper. Never had a failure in the 400 hours or so I used it. I would trust it more than the John Deere E series that's for sure. Watch my T4 rant videos to see all my complaints about it. PS. I'm very particular about things so keep that in mind while watching.

    • @tylerhyatt7497
      @tylerhyatt7497 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      DLH Farms I will do that thank you for the advice and yes I will never ever have an E-series deere on my farm

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tyler Hyatt. I know for a fact that the engine and transmission are bullet proof in the T4. I would recommend getting the dual command model if you are square baling or if you do anything that requires a certain speed to be obtained. The dual command gives you 24 speeds to choose from.

    • @tylerhyatt7497
      @tylerhyatt7497 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      my 5525 has the 24 speed transmission and it's awful nice for running the 450 round baler. and will diffently want the 24 speed again. would you pay the money for a t5? over the t4?

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tyler Hyatt. Well I did, is the T5 worth the extra 30,000? For me yes I like bells and whistles and the T5 has a lot of them for a smaller Tractor. It's a matter of opinion weather it's worth it or not I guess, but 30,000 more than a T4 is a hard nut to swallow. The T4 would have done everything I need. I had just got spoiled to the power shift transmission in the 6030 we have.

    do you charge by hour or per acre

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Cody flenthrope. Depends on the job but I normally charge between 75 and 100 per hour depending on how rough the terrain is. This job is 100 per hour

    • @codyflenthrope2388
      @codyflenthrope2388 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ok thanks I'm trying to see what the average cost is I know one guy around here who charges 150 an hour and I don't think the quality he does is worth that

    • @DLHFarms
      @DLHFarms  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Cody flenthrope. People around here can't afford that kinda price. You definitely need to keep good sharp blades and do a good job when charging big money even if you have to go over it twice.

    • @codyflenthrope2388
      @codyflenthrope2388 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1
