    Love your work! Would have been great to have this video back when i started out spearfishing, found out a lot of these simple things the hard way. +1 for the figure of eight rope tying, and I'm very interested to try swapping out a float anchor for that reef hook. Cheers

    I am impressed with the second mask you introduced, could you please tell me the model of it and its corresponding snorkel that is nicely use to breath at surface...? I experienced buying a snorkel with shutter on the tip completely horrible to use and its design is useless.

    Instead of a fish stringer, I prefer a Dark laundry mesh bag, You carry all your tuff over the shoulder in the bag and stuff the fish inside also (great lobster bag)

    Just a quick question, how do I get a swivel on the handle if it's fixed? If there's no way to remove and replace? Thanks for the very informative tips on your video btw!

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first Vecta handles had a long hex nut that was screwed from both sides. You needed a tool to hold this hex nut while you undid the screws from both sides. A very thin spanner can do it. About 10 years back we changed this design to a screw/socket system on the Vecta 2. If you have the Vecta 2, hold the handle out like you were going to shoot, the 2 screws to be removed are on the right side. The left side are mock screws, part of the cheek plate, don't try as they won't move, they are just part of the molding. Take out the 2 long self tapping screws and pull the 2 cheek plates out from the rubber grip. The old swivel will drop out if it is the newer Vecta 2 model.

    I am just learning this sport and my question is, why not take the valve to snorkel in the end ? i hope you response ...

    • @mackayn9674
      @mackayn9674 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Valved snorkels that are low quality, tend to be difficult to get water out the end. The normal J snorkel means you can get water out quicker and minimise water resistance and weight.

    • @cannabis_culture518
      @cannabis_culture518 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      J snorkel the way to go but I tend to carry valve snorkel in the event waters are rough. Feel like the J snorkel fills quicker An is harder to clear in rough water multiple times an you get mouth fills of water an valves also fill but tend to be easier to clear In rougher waters . Right tool for the job I suppose. My opinion but opinions are like assholes everyone has one! Safe hunting

    can you use a reel instead of a float line

    • @fearthespear305
      @fearthespear305 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the purpose of the float line/buoy is for 3 main reasons
      1. to be visible at the surface for boats
      2. to be able to hang fish from buoy
      3. to mark spots
      also convenient if you have a larger buoy to rest on by using it as a flotation device
      having a reel is great to add to a float set up since if you shot a larger fish you can use the reel alone with help of the float to put tension on the fish. i have both and its my fav set up

    Hi Rob, can you please let me know what kind of float line that is? Material (polypropylene)? How thick? Twisted or braided? Thank you so much!

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rob, we recommend a 4mm, 3 strand polypropylene because it can be spliced. Good idea to stretch it out if it is new and rub/drag a rag alone to get the twists out while one end is tied up.

    Question......is a speargun that FLOATS better than one that doesn’t float?

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is best if it floats when the spear is out but not good if it floats with the spear in.

    • @RobAllenSpearfishing
      @RobAllenSpearfishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      2 x 60 cm x 14mm rubber is good for 7 mm spears. We do not make 6,75 mm spears but it should be fine if you use 62 cm rubber lengths.
