I’d love to see some content on using virtual instruments and midi vs using and editing/chopping audio. Or maybe there’s a technique to do both, bouncing and then editing a virtual instrument part into audio and then editing that? Thanks

Also, how to use space and silence to create music. I forget who said it but some great musical legend said that music is the space between the notes. How do we cut back on complexity and clutter to let the music breathe?

This kind of production is what I’m really into as I come from more of a traditional musician background and I use a lot of virtual instruments including everything you used in this video. It is truly hard to get virtual instruments to sound natural and authentic but it can be done. I’d love to see more on getting horn parts done with virtual instruments vs audio editing. Well done!

@@nicovo9237 I produce tracks similar to this in terms of CPU usage with the M1 Pro 16gb Macbook, it's more than enough power to handle big sessions. I did a lot of research and the difference between 16 and 32gb is hardly anything, so I'd go with the cheaper one and maybe upgrade the CPU if you've got the spare cash!

Loving this new Silk Sonic record so much, and seeing you do such a great job re producing it makes me even happier about my Addictive Drums 2 Purchase for Black Friday! I've always used sample packs and one shots in a sampler with velocity modulating the filter cutoff and sometimes even the pitch slightly to make my one shot samples have a bit more life, but I'm really pleased to see live acoustic drums and more complex grooves becoming mainstream again. Drumming is an art, and the backbone of any music, seriously, hats off to any skilled drummer, can't wait to dive in. 10 Kits, 10 Midi Packs & 10 Individual kit pieces for $249 is a killer price when you consider recording live drums at home with 1 kit or hiring session drummers for each track.

Silk Sonic's album is the result of multiple creative minds on a journey for the right sounds for one track. Remaking it is easy as the hard work is mostly done. The nuances and complexities of this song, and others off the album, are drastically different from most of todays "beat makers" that loop the same pattern for 3 minutes. Patience, creativity, and innovation are what you're really going to need to compose something up to par or better. Not saying this to disparage anybody, quite the opposite in fact. I'd want to hear this level of creativity not only from traditional musicians, but digital musicians as well.
