Just the skill of piecing together all the beams together and replacing the first floor is truly being a master at carpentry. Dedication to perfection is a remarkable skill and you should be proud of your amazing work. I have always admired the beauty and style of Japanese homes like this. If I had the money I would love to have one built to live in.

Beautiful work and beautiful house, I have lots of respect for such precise and efficient craftsmanship and it seems really fun to renovate such homes.
You have done a Wonderful renovation works.. This is the first time i watched a Japanese Renovation. Video.. Japanese. House is looking. Wonderful ..Congratulations.
My goal is to buy several Akiya homes in Japan to create a retreat space for corporate individuals to unplug from their busy life style. Love to connect with these guys excellent skills and work demonstrated. Some of the best work I have seen so far of master builders of old Akiya-style homes.
From the outside the house looks like an ordinary Japanese house, but the inside is the whole different story. I kinda like the interior space which is opened through the second floor ceiling. That reminds me of a warehouse I used to live in.
@@kaziyahell no. Warehouse is a place where you storage things, it's not meant for people to live in warehouses. Unless it is a period of war or something
I like seeing the modern tools making traditional joinery. I understand the historical importance of the joinery work and even really love the old hand tools but my body can’t handle it anymore after my spine injuries. Modern power tools are still painful but for less time. Nice work gentleman.
This carpentry is so hard-core! I'm a huge fan of this level of construction. This is Doing It Right™ Like the commentator said, the only thing that could be done differently is leveling the home first.
I love watching the skills of these master builders doing the post and beam construction work. I have a question about leaving the bare earth under the floors. I would have thought that using a vapor barrier with gravel over top to keep moisture out of the floor would help. And is the new wood under the floor treated to repel insects and termites?
Son... Very impressive work!... I always loved Japanese joinery and you have a knuck for it... I work wood for the past 55 years out of my 63:-))) and yet still love an opportunity to see a project come nice together as yours... I am very curious as to why you did not use glue ?... is it because mechanical joinery is better in earth quake area?... just very curious,,, My best wishes!... Greeting from Pensacola, FL, US
So enjoy watching these highly-skilled men. This lovely minka will be restored to its "healthy" state, and will be solid and beautiful again. 👏👍💪😎❤❤❤ P.S. A bit surprised no termite prevention or vapor barrier were used. 🤔😲😱❓
I have never seen plywood like you put on the third room floor . What is it and is it already finished on one side? Really nice work..beautiful blend of old and new work styles .
Question:What you you mean by 'double height'? Do you mean two-story? Two floors. I really enjoy how seeing how you do carpentry. I especially liked your creativity and thought that went into your design. Great job!
They said termites are eating the wood but new floors are built with out any wood treatment I don't get it besides that awesome work from the carpenters

It's amazing that the Japanese have retained these building methods into the modern era. It's far superior and longer lasting than stick homes.
What a privilege to watch such craftsmanship! The hole for the rope through the wood knot center in the attic door assembly was especially thoughtful.
