    I feel those 'losses' are due to heavy bouncing on the treadmill and it missing the stickers at times (especially if your treadmill is already cushioned / bouncy) , my solution to this is to mount the Runn upsiddown under the treadmill, cable tie the charging cable and hot glue gun it to the base (eventually I 3d printed a better cradle). 1) You won't kick the Runn accidentally, 2) the Runn is in dark and will illuminate the stickers 3) the charging cable is easier to not trip over 4) recalibrating isn't a problem now that its fixed in place.

    I would like to clarify one point I failed to mention in the video. The Sensor measures speed on its own. It has two separate sensors at the bottom of the device and as each belt sticker passes under the sensors, it measures the time it took the sticker to go from sensor A to B and calculate the speed. So you might see a different speed reported by the sensor than the treadmill if your treadmill is not calibrated.

    for 100$ this is currently (besides getting a 2nd hand strydlive ) the best option hands down imo
    if i read and see the feedback on this unit big thumbs up (hvnt tried it myself yet )
    if you have the cash i would deffenitly recommend the stryd tho way more portable and u can use it inside and outside and in every gym
    overall i think 100$ is a fair price and we deffenitly need more of the "mid price range" devices that are good value for money and accurate
    (just like they did with smart bike trainers )
    as for now like the strydlive / traeadtracker / and now this unit are the only 3 real options but for some feeling i have a feeling this will be also a x ammount of units being made run )
    i am 1 that got their hands on a strydlive when they was still selling them for 100 $ atm it was a huge investment for me but so happy i did cause the unit is spot on good battery life and easy to take with me on trips

    The Runn is easy to evaluate: very interesting technical device that, if it works, solves two very big problems - owners of treadmills without Bluetooth or Ant +, or like me, an owner of a (Sole F-85) treadmill that communicates THE WRONG BELT SPEED! Sole has completely failed to address its product failure. But in the meantime, the Runn at least allows me to report my data accurately. Note: the Runn is extremely difficult to set up. My problem was getting it into sensing mode using the one and only button. Took me more than an hour. But if you can figure it out, it's a very useful device.

      @SMART Bike Trainers Thanks Tariq! The Runn setup was needlessly frustrating. But I just kept trying, stepping away, trying again, and eventually I pushed that little white button in such a way that the sensing mode came on. (I used duct tape to attach two stickers to the belt.) Besides confirming my manual measurement that the belt on my treadmill is moving approximately 18% faster than reported, it also correctly reported that my treadmill was not sitting on a flat surface!

    If I had my own treadmill, maybe I would get one. As it is I run outdoors and at the gym, just not feasible due to price and just the setup. I would look weird and taking up treadmill time from some other user. so far my run experience on the RUNN speed sensor hasnt been as good. seem to be getting alot of speed dropouts which records very inconsistently especially at speeds above 11kmh. not sure is it because of belt slippage or bluetooth signal, but typically for every 10km, i have to run an extra 400-600m due to the speed drops. cant post pictures here, but its very visible from the speed graph at the bottom of the screen. i can see that yours is very consistent and smooth. have tried calibrating both on treadmill (while running) and without me running on it. cant seem to figure out why.

    Calibration needs more information. For example if the RUNN has a decent speed measuring sensor setup, why would you calibrate it to a consumer grade treadmill speed indicator? Also what does Swift have to do with calibrating the device? Not clear to me what that process entails (purpose etc.).

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did the calibration because the incline was off and unfortunately there is no way to calibrate the incline alone. Also, some runners prefer to have the treadmill and Runn speed measurement to match even though one of them can be off. Luckily, I know my treadmill is pretty spot on per various measurements I did.
      Also, I learned not to ever go with manufacturers claims and that’s why I tend to run my own tests :)

    • @corearification
      @corearification 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to calibrate because you place the stickers anywhere from 12-15 inches apart. So, yes it calibrates to match the treadmill. If you know you’re treadmill, maybe set it to 4.9 or 5.1 mph to aim for exactly 5.0 real speed.

    • @Anavllama
      @Anavllama 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@corearification You dont have a clue about what your are talking about. The RUNN calculates speed based upon when the white sticker passes at least two sensors (one at the front and one on the back of the RUNN unit. The stickers can be 15, 20, 25 inches apart it really doesnt matter other than far enough so at higher speeds it has time to reset between stickers I imagine. One needs more than one sticker to capture any variation in speed and perhaps average out any errors in one particular reading.

    Did you have trouble keeping the white stickers on the treadmill mat? And you mentioned inaccurate speed in Zwift, are you saying that Zwift reports a different speed than what the calibrated Runn app shows? And if it has it's own calibration why would you calibrate it in Swift?

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      After the initial calibration, mine was still off by about .2 mph. That could be due to the belt slowing down with every step. Running the calibration in Zwift solved that. It’s possible the runn is the more accurate one but if you want to match both speeds then the second calibration might help.
      As for the stickers, I did lose a couple initially but so far so good. Make sure to press hard on each sticker as you attach them to the belt. I might get a white or silver duct tape and use that instead once I run out. Also, some reported using white-outs.

    I don’t get it, our watches already capture our treadmill running data? Are you suggesting this is more precise?

      Watches without a footpod are usually not very accurate. This device should be much more precise than just a watch.

      D M my Garmin Fenix is almost exactly synchronized with my treadmill distance. This product looks cheaply made, I’d think a Stryd pod would be more reliable. Although if this can actually calibrate a treadmill that would be great

    Is this better than a runpod?

    Does this work for walking?

      Yes it does. It will work with any treadmill speed.

    The runner example on the tmill is snap torturing his or her ankles with that running form...doesn't look normal...OUCH!

    Do you find your Stryd good to use with Zwift? You don’t need both do you?

    • @SmartBikeTrainers
      @SmartBikeTrainers  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You don’t need both. The Stryd is pretty good and usually my go to for running. It’s just so expensive.

    For $100 it should have a battery level. Says A LOT to me right there
