It's a good song to me too😊. (8 points). I specifically enjoy the vocals and the bass line. great analysis, guys... Take care✌️ Love ❤️ from Chile 🇨🇱🤗👍
The drum pattern was created by their drummer per Lindvall. He came up with its syncopated drum pattern to try and counteract its inherent 3/4 time signature which would lean toward it sounding too much like a waltz.
One of my top favorite of theirs! 😊And yes, the words really touch you too. To it you can later add Ode to freedom which is also wonderful, from their latest Voyage album.
OTF!I always get my eyes teary in the end of it. That is the perfect closer to the last ever ABBA album and imo also the most emotional way to wave "goodbye" to us.Circle closed,...now, happily ever after.....(yet i wish there was more but i gotta be logical and wave to them). way
A Very serious subject for ABBA. Very underrated and misunderstood. Sweden and Russia, [ The Soviet Union } have had bad relations for 800 years. They fought many many wars throughout history. In Nov 1939, The Soviet Union invaded Finland. Sweden almost went to war with Russia over this. It did allow civilian Men and Women to become volunteers with the Finns. Over 8,000 Swedes Joined the Finnish Army to fight Russia. After ww2 Europe split into two camps, Nato and the Warsaw pact. Sweden though officially neutral cooperated with Nato. Bjorn, who served in the Swedish Army, understood that if war kicked off between the to factions, Sweden could not stay neutral. It had to pick a side. The Lyric " Cause if the Bugler starts to play, we too must dance " explains that perfectly.
Hello, please react to the song "Don't shut me down" by ABBA, released on the album "Voyage" in 2021, after 40 years of their last album as a group "The Visitors". That song has more mature voices but you will be surprised to hear them. Greetings from Chile (South America)🙌
Agnetha's gloomy delivery and that bass are killers here not to mention the great 'marching" drumming sound by a young Per Lindval. My fave lyrics 'Is it true that the beast is waking? Stirring in his restless sleep tonight In the pale moonlight In the grip of this cold December'
Bjorn did actually serve in the Swedish military in the 60s. Drafted to somewhere in Africa. So, I guess it could have been his way of paying salute to his old folks. Not really a bad song, my fav is the drums.
In an album that leaves me mixed feelings, this is also a song that leaves me mixed feelings "Soldiers" It is the song that I like the least of the four that Agnetha played as lead voice on this album even so, it is a very good song, vocally and chorally, with a more complex and committed lyric, and more musical elaboration (I notice more the drums and some guitar solos, something not so usual in songs from previous ABBA eras) For me it is in the middle block of the album (like the two previous ones), neither among the best 3 nor among the weakest three, close to 8 points. Not in my favourites, of the album, and of ABBA but its a really good song a pleasure to always follow you Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America
Serious album? Yeah.. you can say that. Just look at the album cover. Their shadows are bigger than themselves. Its clear, there will be no more Mamma mias and it's so obvious how B&B are in a completely different space musically now.. Looking for other stuff.. like musicals. You could hear in on the Album allready.

They are reacting to every song on each album in chronological order. So they will react to Voyage after The Visitors.
@@robertschatz7781 Oh, thanks for the clarification, regards.
Great beat!
