Cool idea for a video, may have to try it out myself. I have so much stuff I don't want anymore and have to parse down. Seems like a good way to do it and share new music in the process! Definitely some stuff I noted to check out - Divinyls, Icehouse, and Hoodoogurus. I've listened to Faith No More's The Real Thing, but not the album you showed. Also, I remember liking The Jam's All Mod Cons, but definitely liked Sound Affects more. Thanks for the fun video and for sharing some cool music!
Hi Bill! Glad you liked the idea-definitely worth trying out, especially if you’ve got a lot to go through. It’s a great way to declutter while sharing some music. Just subscribed-really like your energy, and your channel seems awesome.
G’day Stephanie, you have good taste in music and like plenty of Aussie bands . Enjoyed your showing off your albums . Cheers 😎🇦🇺👌 In regards to Hunters and Collectors the popular consensus is ‘ Human Frailty ‘ is their best album ! The Jaws of Life album you have commemorates a tragedy which an outback truck driver intentionally drove his rig into a house in town of Alice Springs. The jaws of life refers to the equipment used to rescue trapped victims
G’day! 😊 Thanks so much for the kind words-I’m glad you enjoyed the album showcase! I appreciate the info about The Jaws of Life. I didn’t know the backstory behind it, but it makes sense now. And thanks for the tip on Human Frailty-I’ll definitely check it out more! Cheers! 😎🇦🇺
No, you can't get rid of any of those records! Such a great desert island discography. Also, thanks for props for Beat Crazy --it's terribly underrated and I appreciate Joe's ambition with it.
Hi Stephanle glad you are keeping all the records that you have shown. I like the Joe Jackson album it came out when I was working at a record store as well as the Times Square soundtrack. I have the Times Square DVD but I still haven't watched it yet. Fun video thanks.
Hi! Working at a record store when those albums came out must've been a cool experience. Times Square has such a solid soundtrack-you'll have to let me know what you think of the movie when you get around to it. Glad you liked the video. Have a great day! 😄
OOh! I need that Hoodoo Gurus in my collection! Great album! The DB's are great as well! Kajagoogoo! another great album. I'm a huge Joe Jackson fan! Another great album. Love your collection! The Jam is one of my all time favs as well. Great Video
Hi, great taste in music you have. 😊 I looked up the incident commemorated on that Australian record sleeve. A trucker called Douglas Crabbe had been barred from a pub because of intoxication and proceeded to drive his semi plus trailer into the building, killing five and injuring several.
Hi John. Thank you! And wow, that’s quite a story behind the record cover. I had no idea about the tragedy involving Douglas Crabbe. What a sad story. Thanks for filling us in. Have a great week. 😄
@@djstephwest Yes, very sad. But have a great weekend yourself, and thanks for showing us these. I collect records I see for cheap and I was thrilled to get Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich's first album yesterday, first press, VG+ for like $3.50. Might be a bit "old hat" for some. Bargain! My philosophy is keep the unusual ones and trade any doubles I get for anything obscure... but that might be just me ;)
I stuck around to geek out, Stephanie! A lot of keepers here for sure, and we overlap a lot here. Love that David Johansen LP. Divinyls, great record. Meat Puppets I haven't thought about in a long time. 😎🎶
Hi Stephanie ! Repercussion is my favorite dB's album. Love Icehouse & The Jam. Been enjoying the new Cure album & love that they broadcast a 3 hour show live on their Yt channel. Excited for the election on Tuesday & I already voted 🗳 ! 👋
@djstephwest Love the new Cure album ! 8 songs & mostly pretty dark. Give it a 9 on a 1-10 scale. The accompanying live concert on Yt is great ..3 hours 1 of the new album , 1 of deep cuts & 1 of hits. Happy Taco 🌮 Tuesday 😊
I had so much fun with that Joe Jackson album back in the day! "Beat Crazy!" I used to have that Hunters and Collectors too. It's cool. Much more savage than some of their later stuff.
I’ve been getting some interesting feedback and learning a lot of new facts about Jaws of Life- like Hunters and Collectors have a pretty solid catalog. Love Joe Jackson too! Have a great day.
Hey Steph. I’m a fairly recent sub, love your channel. Has Joe Jackson ever released a bad album? Nobody ever shows David Johanson albums, well done. So much interesting releases. Too many records to comment on individually, but enjoyed your take on them. Cheers.
Hi there! Thank you for subscribing and for the nice feedback. 😊 Joe Jackson is so talented, and I totally agree-David Johansen deserves more love in the VC! So glad you enjoyed the video. Cheers!
These remind me of those days in the early 00s when I used to buy stacks and stacks of 70s and 80s LPs of all stripes at $1-3 apiece, back when hardly anyone else wanted them. For instance, I got 6-7 of Joe Jackson’s early records that way, U2, R.E.M., Meat Puppets, Mekons, dBs, Echo and the Bunnymen, etc. Great time to collect records!
Totally. Those really were the golden days of record hunting. Back then you could build an amazing collection for cheap. I never went home empty-handed back then! These days, though, I feel like I'm mostly window shopping. lol
Send them all to me, I need lots of those. Faith No More, Meat Puppets, Icehouse are high on my need to find list. I have a few cassettes by Hunters and Collectors but not that one and haven't listened to them since the 90's, they were kind of post-punk with horns. The albums I have came out after the one you have. I'd definitely buy their records if I ever saw them.
Keep "Jaws Of Life" by Hunters & Collectors. Not easy listening and not for everyone but definitely a keeper. They have a great catalogue of great records. Try "Human Frailty" or "What´s A Good Men", more rock-orientated. I prefer the early days of Hunnas, more experimental and rhythmic.
Great to get some info from someone who knows this band! Thanks for the suggestion! I haven’t listened to much Hunters & Collectors before, but Jaws of Life is definitely different, and I liked it. I’ll definitely check out Human Frailty and What’s a Good Man too. Appreciate the recommendations!
While I'm not really a Faith No More fan, I absolutely LOVE the song "We Care A Lot"! ... What a coincidence: I just finished a video about the dB's last night that I'll be posting soon! And yes, I feature that album (of course)... I love that period of Killing Joke! There's two or three albums in a row that I love (although I don't listen to anything else by them!!).... That Joe Jackson album is a departure from the first few and I love the song "One to One".... Listen Like Thieves is, in my opinion, the last GREAT INXS album.... I LOVE the Innocents. Saw them open for Split Enz in 1982. It is quirky new wave for sure. They keyboardist is Randy Newman's nephew and is now a film composer! "Twisted Kiss" and "Directly from the Heart" are my two faves. You're the ONLY person (apart from my real life friends) that I've seen with that album... I love Bonnie Hayes as well! Her brother Chris was in Huey Lewis & the News!.... that Divinyls has one of my fave '80s tracks ever: "Pleasure & Pain"....All Mod Cons is classic Jam. All through high school ('78-82), they were my favorite band. My favorite albums is Sound Affects (for personal reasons)... "Crazy" is my fave song off of Icehouse's Man of Colours... Hunters & Collectors: great Post-Punk. The band's leader Mark Seymour is the brother of Crowded House's long-time bassist Nick Seymour.
Funny enough, I just heard We Care a Lot" played in Bio-Dome with Pauly Shore this weekend. I’m also a big fan of what I heard from The Jam (LOVE the comp Snap!). I’ll have to give Icehouse’s “Crazy” a good listen. My viewers all seem to agree-everyone loves Icehouse. Thanks for watching, there are more CD videos to come! :😀 Have a great day!
@@djstephwest Speaking of Faith No More it was actually Lloyd Landsman who wrote sung and produced the NESTLES sweet dreams commercial jingle from 1986. Faith No More only covered it at their live shows! ☁🍫⛸☁
Wow! Some really interesting records including many I wish I had.

Very impressive 80s collection of vinyl. Definitely hang on to those!
I’m pretty sure you NEED Shabooh Shoobah by INXS. That’s “What You Need” by INXS to accompany “Listen Like Thieves”. Don’t argue. You need it.
Ha! No arguments here. You're right, I do need Shabooh Shoobah in my collection. 😄

Hoodoo Gurus and Icehouse are great! You have lots of great records, Steph. I'm a little envious!
Icehouse seems to get a lot of love in the VC, and I’m definitely envious of your collection!
Keep them all! Some really nice collectable releases there.

Classic Faith No More record...a keeper! FNM, RHCP as well as Jane's Addiction are the collective filaments between 80s rock genres and 90s grunge.
I salute your vinyl purge efforts. Need to do so myself. 🙂
@@BlueSky... Thanks. It’s been a fun process and I’ve rediscovered some old favorites. I recommend doing it!
Yep.. They're all keepers ! I should listen to Killing Joke, not sure if I have heard that one before ? Db's.. cool band !
Hi! You might like Killing Joke. I recommend Night Time.
I'm sure I will like them, good suggestion, just never hot around to listening much. Night Time.. got it !
