I'm in southern california and everywhere I go, whole chickens cost the same as or more than pieces. Typically it's about $1.99 per lb, but often on sale for $0.79 - $0.99 per pound for foster farms regular chicken. What's even weirder is that I can buy the chickens already cooked and Costco or smart n final for less than the raw ones. Strange world we live in lol

With 200usd here in north of Mexico, for 15-20 people you can get:
    - 5 24-packs of beer (around 70-85usd)
    - Depending on how good relationship you have with your butcher, or what's on sale at the market, 15-20lb of meat (60-70 usd)
    - Chorizos or grill links, avocado for guacamole, cheese for quesadillas (get this straight! Quesadillas are just melted cheese tacos, queso means cheese, they're not a f*ckin chicken stew in a burrito tortilla) , headcheese for chilindrinas, onions, limes, salsa, tortillas, and other things to snack (FOR 20 PPL!!) before meat's ready (35-40usd)
    - Charcoal, disposable plates and utensils, a case of 6 2-quart soda for kids and non-drinkers, napkins and cups. (30usd)

Jose Octavio guess I’m answering this then. Some people might buy chicken quarters (thigh and leg) or deboned chicken breast, I know my mother likes to just buy a bunch of chicken legs when their on sale and grill those up.
Personally I find something appealing about cooking a whole chicken. I haven’t done it yet as I don’t have a normal grill but it sounds like a good idea.

Ravi V free range organic chickens are raised on pastures. I don’t know what vegan dipshit propaganda you’ve been reading. It’s not about feeling better about killing an animal, it’s thinking a less stressed out chicken will taste better.

    • @---iv5gj
      @---iv5gj 6 ปีที่แล้ว

A chicken's diet affects the meat and fat composition and thus the taste of the chicken. Your typical KFC industrial chicken will taste flavourless when compared to a free range chicken eating a wide diet of insects, seeds, vegetables, small bush berries...etc
Also a chicken killed humanely will not produce stress hormones that screw up the texture and taste.

South African here... That's a family Braai. Guessing with full service sides enough for like 12 people. Maby... Just maby a little left. But should only be for 10. So that you have some leftovers.
Also... A whole chicken here but in dollars would be like $4 and that's a good one. A pre packaged marinated one would be like 5.50

A lot of people are talking about the prices (primarily the chicken), but one of the things to keep in mind is that sourcing and accountability will always cost money. Sure you can go to a local grocery or Costco and get a cheap whole chicken, but you don't know the providence of the bird/meat. You can't be sure if it was organic simply because it fits the minimum bill of the USDA register or if it has several extra features you might care about (diet, breed, age, etc.). From all of these episodes, this appears to be the kind of butcher shop they run. One where you can test each link in the chain. And you pay a premium for it. If it isn't worth it to you, then go and shop somewhere else, but it's nice to know it exists for people who want it.
Just when it comes to chicken, they had a video on this channel about how the breed and age of chicken can affect your flavour. So I know I would love to get my hands on the different varieties to try.

For 200$ I can get a whole Ribeye, a pork loin and a few chickens where I work. The fun thing about the beef we get is that it's ungraded meat so it goes from old tough cow to beautiful marbled and tender beef so it's kind of a gamble everytime.

Whole pork loin, cut into 1/2” - 3/4” chops. Grill on high heat for 60 seconds per side (or to 145 degrees). Serve with a dallop of green chili, roasted peppers, and charred whole wheat tortillas. You’ll feed 30 people for $40. Spend the balance on booze...
