The Lego Castle/Fantasy/DND community is vicious for unique fantasy parts. They're so starved for new content that they've ripped through the Lego catalog for fantasy figs and parts. Just see the price of CMF Knights, Vikings, or Elves
It's the most egregious problem Lego has. The Castle community is incredible vocal about wanting just normal priced sets. A single wave with a few sets under a $100 would make so many people happy. But more importantly, they never address the minifigure and minifigure accessories shortages that have slowly driven the castle community crazy. You can build a castle with normal pieces, they will never cost you more than the most reasonable of prices, but you cannot get older minifigure parts of rare figures for reasonable prices at all and this problem is only getting worse. With the increase in popularity for Lego, they should re-issue all these older figures, starting with the popular CMF figures like the Raven and Bear Knights. Rare figures like these dragonborns from Vydeo don't need to be reprinted, but they can make new ones and re-introduce the parts with modern, better versions. Just make a few D&D sets that contain a lot of characers and see what sells well. I can assure you it will be a moneymaking machine for them.
I don't doubt that the Wolf Pack Beastmaster will be insanely popular, but I still think the Paladin will be more desirable, due to the versatility of the figure and its parts.
Exactly. It is a great investment. Buy many now for 4 bucks, or even less if you consider bulk pricing available to retailers, then wait a few years and sell them for 50-100 dollars. Meanwhile there are many people that just want some of them, so they can add the parts for their collection as the armored parts have many uses.
I can't find them even in completely new boxes that have been recently restocked and are completely full with no boxes taken out. has to be the employees.
The reason the blue dragon is so expensive is because the line was scrapped just as the Bandmates 2 series was set to release. They were extremely hard to find in stores, and my Lego store never got them in at all. So, scarcity and demand equals high price.
True. I wanted to complete the theme, so I ordered a case on BL a while back. 160$ with shipping. The slime guy, purple mermaid, and vampire bassist are great minifigs too.
The reason the current Dragonborn CMF is so popular is because of the versatility of the parts. Not only do people love the Dragonborn headpiece for fantasy figures, but he has a super useful detailed shoulder, torso and legpiece as well and a beautiful shield. Many medieval builders will love to use just those armor parts to create custom knights and soldiers, while the figure is also popular for fantasy reasons.
its not just bc of the dragon head mold thats making the Dragonborn Paladin hard to find. That minifig is probably the most detailed printed one in the collection and it makes for a very nice suit of armor, both with body printing and printing on the chest-plate piece. Lego Castle fans are scooping them up in droves for the body parts for knights.
If you want to make a full knight squad, you might want 10-20. Some people build outrageously large armies, using hundreds of figures. I don't see the point in that, but that is part of why these figures are so rare and hard to get. The other part is the financial one, people will want to buy them up now to sell them later for 10-20x the price in a few years.
I went to the Lego store the other day, and the employees told me that they don't put the Dragonborn ones out because of scalpers. They said to call in when they get shipments so they can put one aside for you.
I was going to buy some D&D mystery bags from my local Lego store when a Lego employee told me about the app to identify what’s in each one. He helped me identify each figure in a new box, and there was only one gold dragon born in the whole box (I bought him of course), but I would of never gotten him on my own if I was just buying these figures blindly
That is very nice and commendable of the employee to do so. I bought mine at a local unofficial Lego store. They allowed people to buy individual figs that were opened, but also a complete set if available. (which is what I did to have each one) For real, this line is so strong that I only have 2 characters that I did not want now, out of 12. And even those are nicely detailed pieces that I might use some day.
People might disagree with me but LEGO should stop adding figures one could armybuild with (the Tournament Knight, the Falconer, the Orc, the Dragonborn Paladin, the incoming Wolfpack guy, etc) into CMFs. Make battle packs or at least put them on Pick-a-Brick, the current situation is profitable only for scalpers and knock-off manufacturers.
Battlepacks making a return for anything that isn't Star Wars would be a decent help in lowering prices on the second hand market (they should be low anyway but "muh scarcity", the resellers made the scarcity and pretend it even matters anyway with a piece of plastic), if they're properly stocked. Scalpers and investors will still snatch them all up either way and claim they're now worth a million dollars each so little Timmy who was actually going to use them is therefore out of luck either way, but it would still be nice just to have some figures in more than one set, and a more mass produced set at that. Only reason I have the new Captain Rex is because LEGO put him on a microfighter for £15 or £20, which is great not only because I have Captain Rex, but because it also made the reseller and investor nerds mad, those people grind my gears. The collectors that like to swoop in and grab everything too also get on my nerves, like nobody needs to be buying up all the minifigure boxes or battlepacks for themselves. (Just buy 1 or 2 every week or so, or order them online smh)
What!? These are SO expensive now! I’m glad I got all 4 of them when I did. I got the Red one last November for $5, (what steal compared to now) I got the Blue one in a sealed CMF box back in August for $35, I got the Green one back in July on BrickLink for $22, & I got the Gold one on release day at my local LEGO Store in person. I’m less surprised the blue one is so expensive because it was only originally available in Europe because the theme did so bad & was on its way out at that point, but the Red one was like $10 last time I checked last month & it just skyrocketed in value. Honestly, this isn’t even the 1st time this has happened. The CMF series 20 Tournament Knight originally retailed for $5 but is now worth $40 because of these same ravenous Castle fans. I can only imagine this is gonna happen again when the Wolfpack Beast Master comes out in January because that’s another deeply beloved classic Castle theme.
Instead of putting the blame on castle fans, which have extremely few modern sets to actually spend their money on and need to overpay massively for just a few old CMF's, the blame should be on Lego for not reprinting popular figures in new sets or on the PAB system. With this lack of refusing to address incredibly obvious secondary market issues, they are allowing scalpers and sharks to exist and make a living off their negligence.
@@Ogre6972 I live in a city that LOVES Lego, it flies off shelves before they can even mark it down. I have friends in smaller towns who picked up the entire series no problem, I'll probs just have them buy them and ship them to me.
The gold dragonborn is literally only $10 on bricklink, that's nothing compared to the red and blue dragonborn. It is true that the ratio of dragonborn to every other figure in the wave is low, but it's far more obtainable than you're making it out to be.
LEGO need to work with companies like Walmart to figure out how to handle certain products of theirs so that employees don’t hide then buy out certain items just to flip online for more money. The same thing is happening with other products like Hotwheels and MatchBox cars. They need to limit how many of the same item a person could buy to keep a few people from hoarding and flipping the most sought after items.
It also happens when items go on clearance. Stock trackers will say that a store has 20+ copies of something in stock, but you go there and they claim to have none.
I ordered two of the 6-packs and 3 of the individual blind boxes as soon as the D&D minifig set was available through Lego's site. Out of 15 figures, 5 of them were that damn dragonborn paladin, lol
I've got 7 of them because the community in my area couldn't care less about lego. I can just go out and get some dragonborns whenever I want. It's honestly a bit of a blessing lol.
Good tip go to Barnes and Nobel book stores. They sale them and most employees let you scan the boxes to get what you want. I completed my set when they came out at my local Walmart. I went back the next day and the whole bin of the mini figs where gone.
They can just scan them even before they hit the shelves. Even if they don't want the figures themselves, they can sell them online and make a profit. Most likely they get discount as employees of the store as well.
I've looked in completely fresh boxes with no packs taken out and none of the dragons have been there. seems like someone's in the back picking them out and replacing the empty spaces with other figs to look like it's a new box.
@@karemelskares That is just anti-consumer solutions to an already anti-consumer problem. Even if they do not do this, there will be people buying at the store who are (somewhat legitimately) scanning the boxes and picking them out. If not for armybuilding or out of necessity, they will do it for making money on the secondary market. There is no good solution to having blind packs where some minifigures are valued way higher than others. They have to get rid of the randomness and allow individual figures to be bought knowingly.
@@squishyazalea9970 Yeah, I just figure it would help people from getting unwanted duplicates. Worked for me and my friends. Beats the days of feeling up packets in my opinion 🙂got a lot of weird looks from people in those days.
Lego being annoying for collectors will always bring me joy. And I've collected lego all my life, im just saying. Best bet for getting old stuff for cheap is buying up old storage units and getting lucky or something. It sucks that this dragon I've got 3 of from the CMF line is rare, cuz I want all of my copies. Lego really needs to make more hands in the silver color. Also the knight armor printing is phenomenal. Like I might sell off a head if I get the chance but good luck out there, I know it can be a wild ride. I ended up spending like $40 to get a deadpool minifigure from bricklink so I know it can be crazy. The $40 didn't seem insane to me for a legit figure after buying a clone army custom for ~$30. So it comes down to personal choice
I’m glad a Lego store near me had the kindest employee who let me and my mom scan them and even gave us one of those display box things. The guy let us take one of each (there was a 12 fig limit) and the guy (at the Lego store) put them in a little drawer to hide
That's so crazy. I bought the D&D Dragonborn CMF soon after release to use it in D&D games and got the last one in the shop while a bunch of people were looking for it to get the armour piece. It was also sold out multiple times (when I bought it, the shopkeeper said it had been sold out twice in the first few days). I had no idea there were also people who actually were after the head rather than the armour.
It is mostly the armor from what I gather from how many people are enthusiastic about the Paladin. It is so usable and generic, but also detailed and really robust looking. This is one of the best armored shoulder / torso / leg combinations that Lego has ever printed. Don't get me wrong, the head is in demand as well, but the D&D or Fantasy Lego community is much smaller than the Lego Castle community. (and there most be some overlap) As far as I know, after Starwars, which has been slowly bleeding people over the last years, Castle is the most popular Lego theme. It is also a growing community and has by far the most mocs and youtube channels dedicated to it.
bought the complete dnd set when i got em at work (work at legoland) and i worked the retail store, they sell like hotcakes, that minifig scan app is goated. The dragons are easily the hardest one to find. I had to search through 20 boxes of em to get the dragonbourne. sometimes we have to go through multiple boxes worth in the back to find em for people. ill be in the back w the scan app finding one for the kids
The people have spoken. It is obvious which figure was the most popular and if Leog is checking out TH-cam they'll see that the paladin was ranked #1 by most people. Time to create more sets and more CMF.
I am very surprised that this issue is so widespread. I am in Australia, I tried different stores like Target, K-mart and other ones, and I haven’t scanned even one dragon-born. 🤔
You said that they switch to the boxes to stop people from feeling the bags. That is not true. They switch to the boxes for sustainability. The bags were not recyclable but the boxes are.
@squishyazalea9970 Lego went through a lot of different testing and did different types of packaging. Because people feel the bags, a recyclable bag would not be an option as the bags would break open.
@@squishyazalea9970No? Its way less durable and it would break if people kept constantly roughing it up against the pieces for feeling. Thats what the qr is for.
While it might be true that it was done for sustainability, what would be a far better solution is print to demand in clear boxes and individual stocking of the figures. No plastic, packaging, shipping and storage would be wasted on figures nobody wants to buy, that is by far a better environmentally friendly solution than this blind box nonsense.
I’ve tried to find it anywhere near me and I’ve just gotten three, there was a toy store where there were many big minifig boxes opened just without the Dragonborn. I literally searched over 200 minifigures and only the Dragonborns weren’t there💀😭
I am so mad cus I had a chance to buy the red dragon minifigure for only 10$ but I thot it was too much and now it cost 60$ and I wish I had bought it smh
I've looked through boxes and boxes over the entire span of this series' life and I have seen none of the dragon guy. other people I know have looked through boxes as well and found none. even in new boxes that were recently restocked with no boxes taken out dont have any of them. Plan on going around my city to all the general retailers and looking through all the boxes. if I come up empty handed then this is truly f*cked.
I got one of the dragonborn paladins last weekend at WHS. I have the red dragonborn from the Vidyo line that I got at John Lewis way back when. They were still price matching at the time plus I had a JL voucher, so my cash outlay for it wasn’t horrible. I also have the green one from the D&D set. Never managed to get the blue one though. I couldn’t find it round my way.
The other thing about the dragon knight CMF is the unique armor and shield. People who don’t care about the dragon head are swapping them for human heads and creating knight armies for their castle setups.
This was exactly what I planned on doing, but seeing how hard it was going to be to get a Dragonborn Paladin for a reasonable price I just bought the whole set instead just to be done with it. They actually look really nice displayed together, so I still might have to buy a few overpriced ones anyways. :P
@@BillSchrader You shoud hate Lego for creating this problem in the first place. Place the blame on the one actually creating the problem. It is artificial scarcity, not acual scarcity that created this problem in the first place.
@@pinobluevogel6458 I 100% agree. It’s not that I hate all adult collectors, the scalpers obviously. I will add though that the adult welcome sets have a layer of depression to them.
@@BillSchrader I understand where this is coming from, but isn't all of that tied to Lego? They are the ones that truly control the market, the prices and the sets that are coming out. I'm always so surprised at how little Lego is criticized, while the problem is mostly with them. Sure, scalping is a blight on society with every artificially scarce item, but it can be prevented by simply making more so the scalpers will lose their investment.
There are different codes on the boxes that allow you to determine what is in each box. That is how full sets were put together for pre-order without opening a box.
5:54 at that point just print your own or buy an off brand. These resellers are out of control, no need to make yourself feel like a stooge handing these people way too much money for 10 bits of plastic that's meant to be enjoyed and played with btw, not bought out by nerds to sell at jacked up prices to collectors that'll do likely nothing with it and probably pretend they're "making an investment". I might let my LEGO sit around more often than I'd like to, but that's because I haven't the space to use it currently, rather than because I think I'll get a huge come up in 30 years like those nerds selling old castle and bionicle sets or whatever else for insane amounts of money compared to the original price and what they're actually worth as plastic toys. Like, as an example, if a power miner figure was manufactured for less than 50 pence, it should stay around that price, right? At most I'd fork over £2 for a singular power miner figure on its own but I bet people are selling them for upwards of £10, maybe even £100, which are both way beyond what one of those is actually worth (the manufacture price).
I bought the remainder of a display box of D&D minifigs at Barnes & Noble. There were 21 figs left, and 5 of them ended up being Dragonborn. I would have been fine with one, though having extra shields of that print is great. I was actually less excited with getting multiple Dragonborn than I was upset about not getting a single Mindflayer.
There are many stores that sell the individual figures, you could get a mindflayer there easily for the normal price. The only figure that costs more on the secondary market is that Dragonborn.
This is not the first video I've seen pop up about the Dragonborn Paladin (and other popular CMF figures) and it certainly won't be the last. Let's get one thing straight: Lego has made a massive mistake in making these blind containers. They are doing this in hopes to make more money and have people spend more to get these desired figures, but people will not do this. Especially now with the apps and the price of them skyrocketing, every person armybuilding, or even people considering selling them will scan and take these out of the stores before people will have a chance to buy them. It could even be the employees themselves taking them out before they even hit the shelves. The solution is simple: Print to demand and sell them in clear boxes, so you see which one you are buying and allow stores to individiually restock specific figures. This will be beneficial to Lego, as they will sell more of the desired figures and do not have to massively overprint the undesired ones. It will teach them what figures are succesful, allowing them to improve the next wave with the data. Second, this will be better environmentally, as less of the undesired (never to be sold, or accidentally bought) plastic figures will hit the market. They will not be sold as much, they will not be shipped and trucked and they won't even be created, which is a huge saving on the situation now. Lastly and most importantly, it will be a huge improvement to the consumer. Being able to buy the figures that you want, allowing you to either armybuild or get a complete set with ease is a blessing and a huge timesaver. Not to mention people unaware of this will not get incredibly disappointed with not having a specific figure they want. This is the reason I never gave into scanning myself. I can imagine being that little kid that really wants a dragonborn and spends all his pocket money that he saved up on those packs and never has a chance to get one to begin with. Lego has a nasty mean streak for subjecting children to a gambling system rigged for disappointment like this. Ideally randomness in toy collectibles should be banned by law, but in my opinion companies should not resort to these kinds of unconsumer friendly business practices at all. Shame on you Lego!
It doesnt work like that, if you go look at the most luxurious and popular brands they all play with artificial scarcity. You cant buy rolex you need to be on a waiting list, you cant buy some luxury bag, because its only sold in certain places, you cant buy a specific fountain pen because its numbered and limited edition and exclusive to select retailers etc. You cant buy one thing because it only comes as gift with purchase xD. Lego could make all 12minifugures castle theme and they would sell it out and people wouldnt be afraid to get duplicates. But probably there is some sinister math that easy availability would make demand fall too, as people wouldnt be desperate etc. Also finally lego could make WW2 sets price them 3x make them limited and they would sell out on a first day.
@@cortesimerci35 Artificial scarcity is one thing, random box gambling for a product that is sold to children is another. I don't think this is a normal way to do business. Also, comparing Lego to a Rolex is not even remotely logical. Rolex is a high end brand that is only sold to rich people, where exclusivity and the fact that you can use it as a way to store vallue are the most important reasons for buying them. Lego is two things: it is a toy and a creative hobby, but it is a common product that is available to everyone. For sure some sets are so incredibly expensive that they are out of reach of most people, but overall Lego is simply a common thing to buy for a normal household. Next thing you're going to say that toilet paper should have limited printruns, so it will be more exclusive and that they sell them in blind boxes so people won't know until they open it if they got paper, cardboard or plastic rolls.
The way my local lego store works is you have to get the whole set or use the app and sort through the whole set and once you've finished, the store worker will hand you 1 box
I’d honestly say that the main reason why they’re not available in Walmarts now after several months is because a lot of the stock is just leftovers from the previous months all just consolidated. The Dragonborn paladin is just super popular and was picked out my buyers very early on. I was able to get my hands on 8 of them a few weeks before their release at a Walmart that I discovered to have a lot of cmfs. So now that we’re 2 months out, they don’t have very many new boxes imo
I spent the past month searching for just one Paladin, eventually walked into a woolworths to find they'd stocked all the packs without the box, said fuck it and scanned the entire thing till I got all three. Felt like shit being part of the problem but god damn, every other box I've scanned had zero. Zilch.
One time I used my scanner at a book store and I searched every dnd figure pack and I did not find the dragon knight despite the employee telling me that they received the minifigure packs the previous day, I then went to a different book store(they both belonged to the same company) and again, I scanned the packs and did not find a dragon minifigure
Some folks literally get the delivery schedule from stores, go their for when they open, then raid every box as soon as it hits the shelves. Makes it tough for the rest of us who aren't quite so "dedicated".
I know for a fact about a Lego store employee at the Kansas City airport store that was caught opening all the boxes and using that app to take all the dragon born and buying them himself. He was told not to do it. When I was flying through the employee asked me which one I was looking for she went through a new box and searched for it for me and found out the guy was still doing it after he had been told not to. So I’m sure he’s not the only person across the states doing the same thing
I use the scanner app to find these figures cuz I ain't tryna waste money on duplicates... Except when I want duplicates of course 🗿. I just found the dragon and got the vampire with it cuz they looked cool, had no idea the dragon dude would become super rare
@squishyazalea9970 it's kinda funny how I can scan like 15 different boxes and see the same 4 figures every time too. I know for a fact not everyone uses the app so to be seeing the same couple every time really had me thinking you were right about them intentionally removing the good ones 🤣
I have used the app and I have found them at my local grocery store and Walmart. I have ran across 10 of them. The red dragonborn and blue dragonborn are going out of sight due to this series. I did not like the Vidiyo series, but I happened to get the red dragon for my son. I cannot find the light blue one. It is crazy that now the red and blue ones are going for over $90.
I never liked the Minifigures series because they were rather costly where I lived (and I was a kid, so I didn't have my own money), they were only sold in official Lego stores, which there weren't any close enough to where I lived, and on top of that you never knew what you could get anyway. I was told about the "feel it out" technique, tried getting a cool space guy, looking for his blaster - ended up with a Scotsman by mistaking his pipe for the blaster. Might've actually been a second one, as the first one I got at random, as intended. Never bought a single bag of that series ever again. The price, availability, scarcity and the "surprise" aspect made me really dislike this series, if not outright hate it. Back in the day I would look at the catalogues, see some cool minifigs and get angry because I knew I could never get those.
Feeling was not hard, you need to download the full checklist picture, if you have it before you it was pretty easy. I wish I did it sooner because there were always atleast one or two great minifigures every year... Yeah its bad because the minifigures are too diverse and for a grown up like 10/12 are worthless.
I’ve got 12 of the dragons. My target had like 7 boxes out at once, and there’s 3 in each box. I got enough of what I needed and didn’t scalp the place.
I got 4. I deliberately left 1 at the 2 stores I pulled from. The 1 I have more of are the Vampire lord & Elf bard. Also, these dragon figs were expensive even before the DnD CMF came out.
From the Lego d&d set I've acquired 21 so far by just going to the stores and scanning the boxes. The people at the stores have no clue about them. I'm collecting as many as I can get and incorporating them into my new castle build. The blind boxes are selling mad fast. Every week or two they have a fresh big box. Sometimes I get lucky and I manage to get 3-5. Other times someone else beat me to it.
I went to a local store yesterday to see if I could find one (I was already at the LEGO store and they were cleaned out of this fig...no surprise). I was scanning box after box, and one of the employees said "You're probably wasting your time. You're the fourth person scanning those already this morning." It was about 11am and they had been open for about an hour, or so. It was seeming futile, but I kept pulling boxes off pegs and scanning them. Eventually walked out with two of the dragonborn paladin. Patience paid off.
It's not impossible. It could be your area. Either employees are taking them all or they are just that sought after. Iv heard that the gold dragon is most people's favorite from the series.
The LEGO store I was at yesterday said that they have folks waiting at the doors on delivery days, so they can pick through new boxes right away, looking for the paladin. Insane.
The employees are not taking them, collectors like me are finding them. I bought 3 full sets because the figures were customizable to make a nice variety. But the Dragon ones I hunted more down in stores using the app you mentioned because I wanted a full army unit of them, but also the body and legs with it are so great for other character creations like clerics and paladins, I even saw saw someone make an angel style fantasy character with it. I also got multiple of the bird ranger to army build him a bit and for the wings.
When I saw these prices 2 weeks ago, I went looking and found a store in my country where they sold the red dragon set, new and sealed for 30 euros, so I got it.
In the UK i managed to find three in one big box after scanning through all of them however this shocked me because there was a dude who was scanning them before me
People are having trouble with the dragon? that's odd I found them all over. I had a hard time with the Aarakocra, but that took only 3 shops in close proximity to find it. I got a second one because the leg pieces I've never seen before, they're a unique mold, and are not standard minifig legs.
The store near me just got the first dnd packs just last week and I've been checking every day since they released, first day they are out at store someone had already gone through all 4 fucking boxes and gotten the paladins out... I just want one to collect.
As im in EU, i see a bunch sets with the red one available for 30$ a pop, i think the blue one is more expensive due to the fact its in the blindbox. i guess time to yoink them, also for the d&d set i gotta look thru the unopened packs i have if i have the gold one, recently bought 10 d&d packs and the store send me 2 packages of 10 instead, so i`ll take it.
hahaha thats WILD! meanwhile im sitting on a little over 60+ dragonborn paladins ;) i was hoping to hit 3 boxes full, but they became such a pain to find in october with scalpers starting to figure out the value of the dragonborn paladin, and with retirement coming this year, there are hardly any stores restocking them anymore...
I bought 4 blind boxes from Best Buy because I was still missing 3 for the D&D collection and 3 out of 4 were Dragonborn Paladins somehow. Not complaining, but will need to buy more blind boxes to complete the collection.
The blue dragon was from vidiyo series 2. It had an extremely limited release in the us and canadian markets. I never saw series2 in stores. I bought a case from denmark a while back to complete the theme.
I have that green one and forgot about him cause he’s locked up in the dungeon in that set. My most expensive minifigure is Snake from The Simpsons, I guess being exclusive to a ridiculously expensive set doesn’t help those.
I don't know why it's impossible to find it. I didn't want to create a deficit by going to the store and buying all the dragon born paladins, so every time I went into the store I bought one in different ones and now I have 10 of them for future resale, but in every store I went into and which had mini figures there was a dragon paladin.
As far as the CMF minifigures go, I just always buy a case of them from minifigures plus. Always great service and pricing and only once did I not get three complete sets but they state that on their website that mistakes from Lego do happen on occasion.
It took me two frikn' months to complete the D&D series, the last two minifigures i could not fine them anywhere. I paid 8€ for the vampire from a bag already opened in store and 6€ for the paladin from used merchs
I have had amazing luck at Scheels. I dont know if they're national, but I am up to 29 Dragonborns, and have 7 total complete sets, with a bunch leftover for mock figs. 🤘
I just went to the Lego store and they brought out a brand new display box of figures and let me scan them, I stopped when I got two of these; one for me and one for my nephew to complete the set for each of us. I also am in there a lot and the employees are familiar with me so that may have played a part.
The blue one is more expensive because it was only released in the second Vidyo CMF series which was canceled before it was widely released in the US.
@@MythicBricks aaaah, makes sense

If you think this is crazy, wait till the Wolf Pack fig comes out
I personally just want the pirate lady with the parrot.I it wasn't for the hood piece that he has,I wouldn't care at all for the wolf pack guy.

Exactly. It is a great investment. Buy many now for 4 bucks, or even less if you consider bulk pricing available to retailers, then wait a few years and sell them for 50-100 dollars.
Meanwhile there are many people that just want some of them, so they can add the parts for their collection as the armored parts have many uses.

Lego D&D chess set would help.
(which is what I did to have each one)
For real, this line is so strong that I only have 2 characters that I did not want now, out of 12.
@@SMiki55 it’ll happen no matter what tbh. It happens to minifigures that come in regular sets as well
Put them in CMFs...but, after the series ends, make the parts available on PAB, too.
@@Ogre6972 that's a good idea too!
That's the difference between my buying a few figs on the aftermarket and buying a case and splitting with friends.
To be fair though, the Tournament Knight also has an AWESOME colour scheme, which pumps up the desirability (IMO, anyway).
Am I the only one collecting a bunch of mind flayers to make a colony?
I'd like to but I've only seen the figures at one store in my area. Luckily they had ONE mind flayer.
@@thesonofdormammu5475 Both stores I was at yesterday had a bunch of mind flayers. I guess it just depends on what is popular in a specific area.

The gold dragonborn is literally only $10 on bricklink, that's nothing compared to the red and blue dragonborn. It is true that the ratio of dragonborn to every other figure in the wave is low, but it's far more obtainable than you're making it out to be.
didnt watch the video
I have 5 of them and the entire series and I see these dragons everywhere. It feels like everywhere I go there’s a new box of them.
“Impossible to obtain” I got it twice 💀

My son got two of them too, lol.
I ordered two of the 6-packs and 3 of the individual blind boxes as soon as the D&D minifig set was available through Lego's site. Out of 15 figures, 5 of them were that damn dragonborn paladin, lol

Good tip go to Barnes and Nobel book stores. They sale them and most employees let you scan the boxes to get what you want.
I completed my set when they came out at my local Walmart. I went back the next day and the whole bin of the mini figs where gone.
Kohl's and Best Buy are another couple places to check that people don't always think about.
"the employees are taking them!"
my man you just said that there's an app people can use to check them. those people are just getting there first
who said the employees arent also collectors 👀
If you look at the bricklink descriptions you are not getting all of the mini figure pieces. I have seen the complete one selling for $15 complete.

So it comes down to personal choice
I’m glad a Lego store near me had the kindest employee who let me and my mom scan them and even gave us one of those display box things. The guy let us take one of each (there was a 12 fig limit) and the guy (at the Lego store) put them in a little drawer to hide

(and there most be some overlap)
As far as I know, after Starwars, which has been slowly bleeding people over the last years, Castle is the most popular Lego theme. It is also a growing community and has by far the most mocs and youtube channels dedicated to it.

I think I got that red dragon Vidiyo set on clearance for less than $10. I guess I can retire now! 🤣
Took me 2 weeks and several stores to find the Dragonborn Paladin and complete the D&D minifig series.
The dragon born is the most comon. I have 4 of them.
You said that they switch to the boxes to stop people from feeling the bags. That is not true. They switch to the boxes for sustainability. The bags were not recyclable but the boxes are.
@@SureBricksALot couldn’t they just have a used recyclable bag like packaging then?
@squishyazalea9970 Lego went through a lot of different testing and did different types of packaging. Because people feel the bags, a recyclable bag would not be an option as the bags would break open.
@ i feel like they could have just used the same paper they use for lego set piece bags now, just with some branding on it, but oh well
@@squishyazalea9970No?

I had more trouble finding the lady of pain than the paladin.
I hate adult collectors sometimes lol
As a Walmart employee I can confirm this happened because I did this exact same thing

@@F5_Twisster dang, thats some luck!
Lol, me finding the Dragonborn minifigure at Walmart without the app on my first buy

I was lucky enough to get one I mostly wanted him for the Chest plate peice cause it's by far the best knight armor Lego has made
I know for a fact about a Lego store employee at the Kansas City airport store that was caught opening all the boxes and using that app to take all the dragon born and buying them himself. He was told not to do it. When I was flying through the employee asked me which one I was looking for she went through a new box and searched for it for me and found out the guy was still doing it after he had been told not to. So I’m sure he’s not the only person across the states doing the same thing

If you aren't in Europe, the blue one is tough to find, as Vidiyo was cancelled before series two dropped in most places outside Europe.
@@Ogre6972 that really sucks.
I have gotten it from Walmart yesterday so I now have all of them
I never liked the Minifigures series because they were rather costly where I lived (and I was a kid, so I didn't have my own money), they were only sold in official Lego stores, which there weren't any close enough to where I lived, and on top of that you never knew what you could get anyway.

Yeah its bad because the minifigures are too diverse and for a grown up like 10/12 are worthless.
I’ve got 12 of the dragons. My target had like 7 boxes out at once, and there’s 3 in each box. I got enough of what I needed and didn’t scalp the place.

Also, these dragon figs were expensive even before the DnD CMF came out.
Thats very white of you
From the Lego d&d set I've acquired 21 so far by just going to the stores and scanning the boxes. The people at the stores have no clue about them. I'm collecting as many as I can get and incorporating them into my new castle build. The blind boxes are selling mad fast. Every week or two they have a fresh big box. Sometimes I get lucky and I manage to get 3-5. Other times someone else beat me to it.
I got the dragonborn on the first one and I wanted him so I'm glad I got him
Bruh, you can't find one figure, all that I have in my local shops is that elf bard.
I didn’t even try to get the dragon born and still got him on my second pack
It's not impossible. It could be your area. Either employees are taking them all or they are just that sought after. Iv heard that the gold dragon is most people's favorite from the series.
The LEGO store I was at yesterday said that they have folks waiting at the doors on delivery days, so they can pick through new boxes right away, looking for the paladin. Insane.
easy solution to this issue: ignore the hype bois, get some other nice legos for the price
I remember those 20 dollar packs were all time on sale and cost around 5 bucks. The red dragon was in a cheaper set so that is why he is cheaper
In the UK i managed to find three in one big box after scanning through all of them however this shocked me because there was a dude who was scanning them before me
Might not have been looking for that one (as hard as that is to imagine).
💀yup
I’m happy I got the full set. My Walmart that has these figures looks like a nightmare.
Big boxes are packed this way so they are all in one place in the back
Did you buy any lego vidiyo sets when they were in stores?
Only 2 series 1 blind boxes, I got Ice-cream Saxophonist and Bunny Dancer.
No vids but Jan.1st I’ll be at my store when they open for 6 of the 12 new cmfs. Mostly for the new cat, bird and wolf.🐱🐦🐺
I bought when they were 50% off on Amazon
I got some of the blind boxes.
Yup. Bought them all when they went on clearance, and managed to snag two complete sets of Bandmates series 2, as well (from Amazon).
it usually takes me a month to get a full set. that is just picking up boxes, i have atleast 4 or 5 dragonborn figures
@@alexstoner4446 dang
@squishyazalea9970 well I buy 2 to 4 packs a day and have quit a few duplicates.
I have quite a few too.
The blue dragon was from vidiyo series 2. It had an extremely limited release in the us and canadian markets. I never saw series2 in stores. I bought a case from denmark a while back to complete the theme.
To be fair it is just as expensive, if not more in Europe. (at least now)
I love that people ignore other great minifigs
As always...
I have 6, 3 are sealed lol
I have that green one and forgot about him cause he’s locked up in the dungeon in that set. My most expensive minifigure is Snake from The Simpsons, I guess being exclusive to a ridiculously expensive set doesn’t help those.
I don't know why it's impossible to find it. I didn't want to create a deficit by going to the store and buying all the dragon born paladins, so every time I went into the store I bought one in different ones and now I have 10 of them for future resale, but in every store I went into and which had mini figures there was a dragon paladin.
I bet you are caucasian.
Ive had an surprisingly easy time finding them in my area. But im pretty sure someone swiped the local walmarts display cause they’ve had 0 out
As far as the CMF minifigures go, I just always buy a case of them from minifigures plus.
I was tempted to just a buy a bulk box and sell the two spare sets just to avoid the scalpers.
Picked one up in store the other day. Might just be a regional issue.
I mainly want the Bard
I have had amazing luck at Scheels. I dont know if they're national, but I am up to 29 Dragonborns, and have 7 total complete sets, with a bunch leftover for mock figs. 🤘
I just went to the Lego store and they brought out a brand new display box of figures and let me scan them, I stopped when I got two of these; one for me and one for my nephew to complete the set for each of us. I also am in there a lot and the employees are familiar with me so that may have played a part.
Wdym my little brother got that minifigure like first try I’m so suprised
Yo thanks for the tip I pulled it trying to get the one I wanted, I’ll be trowing it up on my eBay soon 👌🏼
Wanted the red skull piece specifically from the skeleton dude and never got one
Literally I just need one to complete my set but everywhere has been bought out by scanners!
Scan the codes on the boxes. I got multiple of the dragon and got a full collection of the DND figures that way.
Check your local small stores people! Walmart is rife with scalpers.
