I will take a loan a 100times to buy a house if i have too. I will spread 500m to buy up to 10 houses on loan and let it appreciate than buy jus one house. Celebrities buy houses on loan, as long as the interest is not much. It's the wisest thing to do!

Mortgage is not a debt, because as you pay you also get equity.
Personal mortgage is a decision to have some luxury and space. Honestly, no one pays a mortgage for 25yrs and gains any equity. If you add the interest rate, renovations, you’ll barely break even when you finally sell. That being said, as soon as I qualify for a mortgage, I won’t hesitate to apply for one. 😉
@Eleanor-kv9bd I fortunately paid mine off in 15 years so yes I do have some spare cash as I live mortgage free.

But where I live, like in Canada, buying a house isn't easy. Some folks buy with a big down payment or cash, while others buy land and build from scratch. Many end up owing the bank a lot, like $300,000 to $500,000 or more but still say they bought a house and still consider themselves homeowners. Some prefer to avoid the complexities of homeownership altogether and are content to rent for life. I don't think the person asking was jealous, rather, they were likely just curious, perhaps drawing from their own experiences. Anyway, don't let it bother you.
Remember, having a big bank debt isn't a blessing from God. Some people seem rich but owe a lot. It's like Deuteronomy 28:12-13, it talks about being prosperous without borrowing. When you share your private stuff, it's not private anymore. But keep doing well, both of you. God bless!
