If the "Delete" button is disabled... click the three dots button and select "Generate text-based editing transcript". Apparently there is some "static" mode you could accidentally be in.
It's worth mentioning, for someone like me who does voiceovers on instructional videos, if you do not want to delete the video and just delete (lift) the audio track when removing the pauses- the workaround I used was locking the video tracks on the timeline (use the lock icon on the far left portion of the timeline).
You can control the pause and fine tweak. Just Click the "Filter" > "Seach Settings" > "Transcript Video Options" > There you can control how short or long you want the pauses to be detected. Thanks for the tip I just did a little bit of more digging. Definitely a game changer and a way to save some money as well.
FYI if you don't see the bulk delete option, upgrade PP to 24.1, that update brought the bulk delete option. Great tutorial btw, I've watched 10-15 other videos on this, and this is easily the best one. Saves a TON of time.
I am sitting with my friends working in a cafe and audibly GASPING at the fact I didn't know how to do this, so I'm obviously sharing the knowledge with them. You just saved me hours of time 🙏
Thanks. Simple and straightforward help in how to do this. 👍🏻 However, I did not have the fiter tool you select - turns out one needs PP 2024, which I had to upgrade my computer to be able to use.
apparently they fail to highlight the important point that you need to have a subscription to adobe to do it. SMH. I'm looking for a free way to auto remove silences. Guess there isn't one and you have to just do it manually one by one. back to work.
Hey guys. I was facing the same prob, in Portuguese. I solved it by transcribing it as source (not generating a Static Script). To choose language for Text Based Editing (as language choosing dialogue box is not showed in this option), go to Preferences > Transcription. You can also set your Premiere to transcribe everything automatically, so you don't face this problem anymore. You can also generate captions and use them as marks in the timeline, as guides on where to cut. No caption, no talk. But this is a lot of work, and the first solution is highly recommended.
this is a pretty particular case but I edit for a music producer and a lot of times there are talking portions mixed in sections of just an instrumental playing. The transcription considers music with no words as a pause. so it deletes that too. If anyone does work for musicians keep that in mind ! Is there anyway to select all pauses, then deselect the ones i wanna keep in ?
Thank you again for the video. I am not sure whether you will get what I mean with this question: While removing silences, is there a setting in Adobe that only removes sections that are completely silent and ignores parts with any sound, even if the sound is not understandable? I tried the silence removal feature, and it ended up removing some audio parts that were in different languages. Most of this video was in one language as German, but it also has some little sections in Japanese and Chinese. It seems like it removed some non-silence parts of these sections because (probably) they were not in the primary language of the overall video and (probably) appeared the app as meaningless. Is there a way to ensure that only actual silent parts are removed?
@GavinHerman exactly...because just like the real Al capone did, ai saves you paying taxes on your employee 🤭😅🥲 Jokes apart, I still believe that every new technology is an opportunity because (at least for now) you always need a real human being to look after/supervising/perfecting the final result :) What are your thoughts?
You can use Speech to Text for: English, English (UK), Simplified Chinese (Mandarin), Traditional Chinese (Mandarin), Traditional Cantonese, Spanish, German, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Korean, Italian, Russian, Hindi, Dutch, Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish. If you’re language wasn’t listed here then I’m not sure how this feature would work unfortunately :( seems like silence removal should be universal
You probably did this already, but needs to be the most recent version of Premiere Pro. I would need to see your workspace to figure it out if you did that and it still doesn't show up
thank for this, but it doesn't seem to work for silences on a music track (not dialogue)? is there a way to remove that or blend the before-after seamlessly?
Thank you for your video. The "Delete" button is disabled. I tried static mode, but the delete button is still disabled. Is that because the transcribed language is different from English? Do you have any suggestions?
I didn’t even know how to delete the space by hand so fast…. I literally had to cut it all then click the empty space then delete… I’ve wasted so much of my life editing
Try creating a dynamic transcription using the three dots menu on the top right. If you cannot delete the transcribe or create a dynamic transcribt, this helped me: copy the footage - create a new sequenz (not duplicating) - paste footage into new sequence - create a new transcript - delete pauses
@@daniel_brah I figured it out. You can only delete pauses in the active monitor. if the content isn't in active monitor you wont be able to delete it. So just drag the clip to an empty part of the timeline delete the bits you need then drag it back

It's wild that they don't integrate this as a proper stand alone tool, like the plugins work. If you're editing something that's not in a supported language, then the transcribe feature is useless, so it's stupid to have to jump through those hoops. And even if I do so, the delete button is greyed out. -_-
The funnell filter thing that deletes all of the pauses is not there for me for some reason. Does anyone know how to make it show up by the search bar in text?
i am doing the same, but when i click for transcript , it takes too much time even in hours. but in capcut captions takes hardly two to three minutes. why like this. Can you solve this please ?
