- In celebration of two decades of working together, adidas Skateboarding & Mark Gonzales hosted Showcase X at Milk Studios in New York City to celebrate creativity and freedom of expression.
The following performance took place on July 12th, 2018 and contains clips from Mark Gonzales’ original 1998 performance in Mönchengladbach, Germany laid to Coconut Records’ “West Coast” as a tribute to the song’s original music video.

Great Skater, Artist, and Legend too bad we all can’t stay young forever I wish Gonz could still shred like he use to, I’m just happy he still cruises and skates at all, his art and skating looks fun and inspirational especially for his age and how long he’s been skating.
My best friend has schizophrenia and we like a lot of the same art maybe I’m an undiagnosed schizophrenic lol funny that you said that.or maybe Gonz is schizophrenic also, either way he’s a one of a kind dude who’s very creative.
He's 51 and still rips better than most 20yr olds.

I imagine this as a metaphor for marks life. Always being the creator in the room is a hard job especially when the people around are so small minded that they are just recording, with mind or phone.

Damn I remember being 12 years old watching the coconut records video and just loving the song I was skating at the time but only doing pop shuvs in my driveway with my mike mo fully flared board.. upon many other watches I knew it was mark. I think he is representing everyone's fear of getting old, and inevitably not landing tricks anymore. Not just that, but all that comes with. He's saying, "no wait I really still can do this, (i think I have to do this)". But the recklessness of the ending is showing that all that matters is recapturing the feeling if it; even if it's just flipping around and sliding on some wood and cement.
