📖 In this Chicken Scratch, I'm covering the Jehovah's Witness Elder, and why their version of this position is unbiblical, out of control, and is just invented by the Governing Body to help control the members.

I always refer to the Watchtower Elders as the "Gestapo Enforcers," because they are "Company Men" whose job it is to enforce the insanely strict rules and mandates and procedures and punishments of Watchtower, and so many of these "Gestapo Enforcers" are outright egotistical bullies who love and enjoy having power and control over others...and those kind brothers who sincere want to help their fellow JWs are often treated like dirt.
Watchtower is a tyrannical dictatorship that destroys families, shatters relationships, and ruins countless lives in the name of "The Only True Religion." They need to be exposed for what they are. - Ephesians 5:20-14 NWT

Another great video D H. Another thing I've noticed is the JWs hate using the biblical word "Church" to describe themselves.
They love using non biblical words like Governing Body and Judicial Committee.
As you have stated many times, a High Control Group loves to control their members, and not LOVE their members.
    Great work as always.

"I desire mercy and not sacrifice."
The funny thing many JWs dont know is it used to be the congregation who decided if someone should be disfellowshipped and there was no shunning.
"The administration of discipline is not the function of the elders only, but of the entire Church. Thus it is evident that the Elders were in no sense to be judges of the members-hearing and judgment were left to the local body, or Church. Indeed, even if the transgressor refuse to hear (obey) the decision of the entire Church, no punishment is to be inflicted or even attempted. What then? Merely the Church is to withdraw from him its fellowship and any and all signs or manifestations of brotherhood. Thenceforth the offender is to be treated "as a heathen man and a publican." Matt. 18:17" Studies Series VI - The New Creation (1904) pp.289, 290
"According to this Scripture the very most that the church could do would be that, after having vainly endeavored to get the brother to repent and reform, it should withdraw special brotherly fellowship from him until such time as he would express willingness thereafter to do right. Then he should be received again into full fellowship.
In the meantime the brother may merely be treated in the kindly, courteous way in which it would be proper for us to treat any publican or Gentile, withholding the special rights or privileges or greetings or voting opportunities that belong to the church as a class separate from the world." Watchtower 1919 Mar 1 p.69

WHO IS OVER ALL? Ephesians 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. GOD and FATHER is OVER/ABOVE ALL and that "All" includes the SON so they are NOT EQUAL
THE BIBLE teaches that Jesus was MADE As Lord and Christ and as Son (ACTS 2:36, Prov 8, HEB 1:5), CREATED/PRODUCED/INSTALLED (Prov 8) , COME INTO BEING/MADE (Mat 21:42 - egeneto) and GIVEN LIFE by the Father - John 5:26 and it uses TODAY (Heb 1:5), and uses future tenses and is a prophecy in Isa 9:6 (Isa 9:6, - WILL BE) . If you are called MADE AND CREATED AND GIVEN LIFE, and NEVER CALLED in the BIBLE as Creator or Maker , then you are A CREATION. ALL FROM THE BIBLE
From the Lord was this (this is referring to the chief cornerstone who is Jesus) , the word WAS is egeneto (made or came into being) - Matthew 21:42 and the exact Greek word used in John 1:3 - MADE, egeneto (came into being) - JESUS WAS MADE/CAME INTO BEING FROM THE FATHER , yes, Jesus was MADE/CREATED!, See also Acts 2:36, Heb 1:5, 1 john 5
Isa 9:6 the word Prince in the Prince of Peace means PATRON ANGEL also Leader. WHO IS the ONE LEADER that we have? Jesus. Now, that same exact Hebrew word was used for Daniel 12:1 which is used for Michael the Archangel. So are you saying there are MANY LEADERS now?

@Mr.DC3.1914 Just the way you respond in all caps, is exactly what alerts me. You are making statements, not reasoning with the Bible in whole. I am realizing when you deeply study the scriptures and not out of context, there is no way I can demote or call Jesus, an angel. I do not believe He is "equal" to God, but you are comparing God to something we can relate to as humans. That's what sent me into a spiral when I found out that, Jehovah's Witnesses had the belief of Jesus being "Micheal the archangel" ! How did I miss that for 36 years! (I know why now, because I was blinded to hearing what they wanted me to hear, I was born and raised as a JW) For some reason after being out 20 plus years, thinking I had separated myself from "God's Organization" and lost my belief that I could even pray, my mom made that statement about "Jesus being an archangel" and chills went through me and thus began my search for truth. I realized, I was not separated from God, that I could pray for truth and I began my journey.
I was not open to Jesus being God in the beginning of my search, but reading the book of John, 4 times alone in any other Bible, I cannot deny the Deity of our one God. Then going on and reading The Old Testament and The New Testament I could clearly see. As one of Jehovah's Witness's I couldn't even answer: What the gospel was. I was drilled on the books of the Bible Names, I was taught, Jesus was "The Great Teacher" and The Greatest Man That Ever Lived" I was horrified as a child of the artwork in the publications, I had nightmares as I was drilled with all this material, but not the Bible in context. Jehovah's Witness's don't research like that. I know that for a fact. I'm finding things in the Bible I never ever knew. They use scriptures just like you did, to try to make a point, and they get mad when you even suggest other scriptures contradicting their belief, they try to base faith on fear, I know because I was in fear for 58 years.
When you read the Bible in context jumping to such massive conclusions is so upsetting for me. The way you replied even further deepens my faith. Which is already solid now!
My son is having surgery today, so I can't respond in detail, but one thing that comes immediately to mind is you refer to Proverbs 8 in whole. Doesn't that chapter say "For my mouth will speak truth:" "All the words of my mouth are with righteousness", "Receive my instruction, and not silver, And knowledge rather than choice gold: For wisdom is better than rubies, And all the things one may desire cannot be compared with her." "For whoever finds me finds, life, And obtains favor from the LORD, But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul, Alll those who hate me love death". Who is speaking? Jesus. I believe Jesus is GOD's Son without doubt. I do not see where you could ever say Jesus is an angel or "Patron Angel" . That really sends alarm bells off in my very soul. Proverbs 8:17 "I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me." Who's speaking? Jesus. Would an angel say such a thing?
Have you read though Hebrews 1:5, "For to which of the angels did He ever say: "You are My Son, Today I have begotten You?" And again, " I will be to Him a Father , And He shall be to Me a Son?" Hebrews 1 is every clear in addition, Hebrews 1:8-9 Who was Jesus according to God?
" But to the Son He says: "Your throne, O God, is forever and ever: A scepter of righteousness in the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness: Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You"
With grace and kindness this is my reply.
      Lorie

These 2 verses prove Jesus wasn’t created:
"And I heard EVERY CREATED THING which is in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, or on the sea, and all the things in them..."
    Revelation 5:13
That really stresses EVERY CREATED THING - - it doesn't say "some" or "most" or even
    "every other thing".
It says: EVERY CREATED THING EVERYWHERE. It doesn’t leave any room for any exceptions.
Ok, so let's read the whole thing:
"And I heard EVERY CREATED THING which is in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, or on the sea, and all the things in them, saying, "To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever." And the four living creatures were saying, "Amen." And the elders fell down and WORSHIPPED."
    Revelation 5:13-14
    That says 2 things:
    1
Jesus is NOT included in EVERY CREATED THING - that means Jesus is NOT a created thing.
    2
That clearly says EVERY CREATED THING worshipped Jesus.

      @@donnyettaHi there Donnyetta,
      May God bless you abundantly!
I’m afraid your sweeping statement that “Greek Interlinears don’t use the word “created” in those verses” sounds pretty ridiculous.
Please tell me how many lexicons or Interlinears did you check?
Honestly. Sounds like you checked one and then made a statement suggesting ALL Interlinears.
      Some information for you:
      The Greek word is: κτίσμα
      Transliteration: ktisma
      Strong’s Number: 2938
      -------------
Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon says it means:
      thing founded / created thing
      creature
      -------------
      Strong’s says it means:
      an original formation
product / created thing / creature
      -------------
Vine’s Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words says it means:
      created thing
      creature
      product of the creative act
      --------------
The NASB, ASV, AMP, ERV - ALL translate it as:
      “created thing”
Those are literal word for word translations.
      Wikipaedia says about the NASB:
The New American Standard Bible is considered by some sources as the most literally translated of major 20th-century English Bible translation.
(Pope, Christopher. "Comparing Bible Translations: ConclusionsMay 21, 2013.)
      Other translations translate it as:
      “creature”
You can check “creature” in as many dictionaries as you want - they all include the definition: A CREATED THING
      --------------
Let’s look at the verse again:
“And I heard every created thing which is in heaven, or on the earth, or under the earth, or on the sea, and all the things in them, saying, “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion forever and ever.””
      ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭5‬:‭13‬
Even if you change ‘created thing’ to ‘creature’ it doesn’t change the meaning.
Jesus isn’t a creature (created thing).
Do you think it doesn’t include all angels?
Are you trying to deny that all angels in heaven are creatures?

If they would have actually stopped their everlasting cherry picking of Bible verses and kept reading on to the next chapter of 1 Corinthians, chapter 4: 3-6; they would have hopefully derived a more balanced view of judging! I recently listened to the recorded testimony of a former elder. There was a witness in Boston who was dying of cancer. The doctors told him that if he accepted a transfusion, it might keep him alive long enough for his family to travel from the west coast to see him. He took the transfusion. His local elders showed up at his hospice, gathered around his bed, and conducted a judicial committee, at the end of which they disfellowshipped him. They also announced at the local Kingdom Hall that anyone attending his memorial service would risk disfellowshipping as well. Imagine -- you've been a witness all your life, and you get DF'd on your deathbed. As a DF'd witness, you fail to meet the requirements for salvation, right? You're not associated with "Jehovah's organization", so the jig is up for you. Can you imagine the blow that would be for that dying witness? That's like a shepherd finding a dying sheep lying in a field and setting it on fire.
Could the story be fabricated? Sure. But that's not the point. Even if you don't believe the story is true, here's my question:
How is it that a group of MEN has the ability to judge you unworthy of salvation, and disfellowship you? How does their decision about your conduct and worthiness obligate God to damn you? Who is in charge -- Jehovah, or the elders? The presumptuousness of this whole thing is mind-blowing. Since when does the power of salvation rest in the hands of these ego-maniacal men?
The WT is in crisis. Numbers are down. Their dark secrets are being exposed. Governments are taking away their protected status and financial stipends.
I think that within the next five years or so, we'll see changes to some key doctrines in an effort to improve their public image and their protected/subsidized status:
    - CSA. We'll see reporting become mandatory. I don't expect to see a change in the "two witness rule" so they'll still be able to avoid taking any action within the organization, but they'll have to kick things over to the local authorities, or public sentiment will grow increasingly negative, as will government relations.
    - Blood. It's going to become a "matter of conscience", just like organ transplants did in 1980.
    - Disfellowshipping. At the very least, I think we'll see a "year of jubilee" amnesty where DF'd people are broadly restored. "Welcome back, everybody. Now --- BEHAVE or else!"
Without changes to the kinds of doctrines and policies that are keeping the organization in a negative spotlight, they'll continue to decline.
And they might actually already be moving in a more progressive direction as indicated by some of the recent announcements. Removing Tony Morris makes sense given that he was probably the most hardline member of the GB and would have been opposed to the kinds of changes we've seen and will probably continue to see.

Evan, who do you think you are fooling? Yourself maybe? Unfortunately some of us that are in the know are able to easily refute your egregious claims. "Numbers are down." Oh, really? In 2022 emerging from a worldwide pandemic where the face-to face ministry ground almost to a complete halt, there was STILL a 0.4% increase with 145,522 baptized. In the 2023 Service report recently released, the increase was 1.3% with 269, 517 baptized and 217 new Congregations established.
Not prepared to take my word for it? It's all on the website. Or just google it. 'JW 2022 (Or 2023) Service Report'.
"Could the story be fabricated? Sure. But that's not the point. " Yes it very much is the point. You wouldn't have posted it if you weren't aiming for effect. From a "former Elder", huh? Couldn't just be that he was bitter, right? I've NEVER heard of a 'Deathbed disfellowshipping".
" I think that within the next five years or so, we'll see changes to some key doctrines in an effort to improve their public image and their protected/subsidized status:" You mean water down the good news? No. That was what the Judaizers advocated for. Loyal Brothers and Sisters are "..not ashamed of the good news." (Romans 1:16)
"Governments are taking away their protected status and financial stipends." So? This comment by itself shows you are unaware of the times and how hard life becomes for everyone, and especially true believers in the end times. It will only get worse before it gets better. I got absolutely annoyed when they said everyone would be coming back to life including the murderers and all those that were beyond help and it would be up to those who survived Armageddon to teach them!!! For years I didn't read the Bible but now in my seventies I seem to have developed these need for truly getting to know the Gods word, so I bought a Bible (with larger print) and with the help of some UTubers I'm at last beginning to have a much better appreciation and understanding of God's Pure Word as well as his Son Jesus Christ. 1,600 alleged offenses by over 1,000 different abusers *_were recorded in congregation records_* in Australia. NONE were reported to the police. They say that victims are free to contact law enforcement. If that's the case, and there's no pressure to keep it within the organization, why would NONE of those people have reported the abuse? Those abusers most likely were never DF'd for two reasons:
      1. They were never reported to the police, so they were never found guilty of a crime.
      2. Because the WT misuses scripture to create their "two witness rule", no action would have been taken against those abusers by the organization. The two witness rule applies or it doesn't. You can't claim it both ways.

Typical. (And yes, I watched the video.) The Bible says not to "Despise authority". (2 Peter 2:10; Jude 1:8) So what does LODM and the other usual suspects have to say about it? 'No, noooo! DESPISE authority!'
Did I hear a certain somebody say that they would "Mouth off" at an elder that pointed out something they thought was a little off in their home? Did that same certain someone tell us we should do the same? ("...Daring and self-willed, they are NOT AFRAID TO SPEAK ABUSIVELY of glorious ones," 2 Peter 2:10)

Matt. In my church, I’m not on staff, but have a high position in the teaching roll. I am under the authority of the elders, because I have put myself there. I personally disagree with some very minor ways the church operates, but I don’t try to subvert their roll or give them grief. Now If I was cheating on my wife, and continued about in my church thinking nothing was wrong, the Elders would approach me. If I continued in sin, without repentance, I would be removed from my positions. However if I was leading a clean life, and had a Cigar while camping. and 2 of them showed up at my house, wanting to have a judicial committee based on my “sin” I’d kicked them out of my house, because it’s none of their business. Point is, they don’t control my life. Not what I eat, how i evangelize, my non essential beliefs, or what kind of bedsheets I have, all are entirely my business.
Now if you want to give that type of control to your elders, you do you, but my point is that it they are saying their near absolute control is biblical, I’m saying it isn’t.
What’s your opinion on earning your way back to the congregation and the WT’s use of the prodigal son story?

David what does more damage to the body, puffing on a cigar without inhaling, or spending a day at a sunny beach, or eat a double bacon cheeseburger, or bacon covered French fries, or just having bacon. See this reveals so much about how indoctrinated you are. GB says cigars are evil, you believe they are, even though it’s not in the Bible. Being overweight, no problem, even though gluttony is a sin in the Bible. So it doesn’t matter what the Bible says, just what your leaders say.

@@LightoverDarkMinistry "...WT’s use of the prodigal son story?" I have no problem with WT's use of the prodigal son story, because we see it for what it is. Whereas you and others apparently see it for what it's not: A step-by-step manual for rejoining the congregation. That's not what it is at all!
It's telling us three things in particular. A) It's much wiser to remain in the security of God’s people, under Jehovah's care. B) If we do end up straying, we should humbly return once we've come to our senses, confident that Jehovah is willing to forgive us. And C) We should imitate the Father in the parable (Who represents Jehovah) by warmly welcoming back those who have repented and returned to Jehovah's Organization.
I recall at one point in the video where you attempt to link the prodigal son to the criminal on the stake next to Jesus. That's comparing apples and oranges. Jesus was able to say to guy on the stake that he would be with him "in paradise" because he of course knew about the future resurrection of the "righteous and the unrighteous". (Acts 24:15) Luke 23 has nothing to do with forgiveness of sins and returning to Jehovah.
There is brochure you can probably get your hands on called 'Return to Jehovah'. You can find out what is required ("earning your way back to the congregation") from that.

Just a quick question. What part of the story has the son earning or proving his repentance? Also the thief on the cross, I wasn't comparing, I'm talking about heart justification. To the WT, simply having a heart conversion isn't enough, it needs to be proved with works. A true heart conversion is enough to be justified in the eyes of God. This is what the thief on the cross did. He recognized he was a sinner, he recognized Jesus was his Lord, and called out to him for forgiveness, and paradise was promised that day. TODAY you will be with me in paradise. @@mattgardiner614
