- Growing up, bistec en salsa was one of my favorite meals! Pair it with some white rice or even some mashed potatoes!
Ingredients Used:
1 1/4lb Cubed steak (flank works too)
Olive oil to taste
3/4 tsp Adobo (or salt)
1 garlic clove, mashed
Black pepper to taste
Dried oregano to taste
1/2 a large, white onion
Bell peppers
1 packet Goya Sazón (or annatto powder)
1.5 tbsp sofrito
3 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tsp white vinegar
Handful of carrots
Enough water to cover everything, about 3/4 of the way
📣NOTE: Cook over medium high heat, initially. Once you cover your pot, let it braise on low/medium heat for the remainder of the time. If the liquid evaporates, add water!

Love this recipe and my husband who is Puerto Rican is very picky but when I make this he says, Gringa can make Spanish Cuisine. So thank you for this recipe...
Awwww of course you can! I’m glad the recipe worked out! 💕
This is the closest version I remember my (Ex) used to make. My friends and I went camping one time and the boys were like , Thank God for the bistec . Or we would have starved. Haha. Thanks for your great recipe.
Making now in my instant pot! Yummy❤
This was soon as good! I made it the other day and my husband loved it!
Muchas Gracias!❤
Voy a hacer esa receta!👩🍳
I like the way you explain how to cook
Your Puerto Rican dishes 😮❤🔥🇵🇷👍
Glad you like them!
I just started following you, and i absolutely ADORE your channel! I’ve been dying to learn how to make more than just arroz con habichuelas, and I’m so excited to try all of these!
I have a question! Do you keep your tomato sauce in a separate container because you also make your own?
@@JulieNicoleQ Awwww yay!! And welcome!
I keep it in a little container in the fridge!
Looks so delicious 😊
Thank you 😋
Bistec means beef steak. For y'all that don't know. Bistec is just latin slang
About to make this now. Thanks 👍
Bendito nena! I’m moving in lol! Oohh this looks so good!!! Y los tostones también! Mm! Marinate for at least an hr before cooking, add some carrots. So a packet of sazon ✅ can’t wait to make this. And you cooked it on low-medium for an hour unsupervised or it’s okay to walk away?? More videos please!!! ❤🙌🏼 eso está fuego 🔥
Oh! I see you’ve answered some of my questions in the comments lol. Thanks so much! 💐
🤗
Definitely going to make this recipe!! Looks good
this looks great! imma try this. question about sofrito, do I have to use cilantro in sofrito? i like the herb but not in large amounts. would using oregano and thyme be okay? then add a small amount of cilantro to the dish while cooking
Hi! Cilantro is one of the main ingredients in sofrito. Since sofrito is mixed with a lot of other veggies and herbs, the amount won’t be significant in the dish, especially since it only calls for an ounce of it! The cilantro flavor is not overpowering at all, imo. Extra oregano will be lovely. 😌
@@mariscookingpr Thanks!
Hello!
Im trying this tomorrow. Will update my final out come😅
Question.. do I cook on medium to high heat for the hour and a half or bring it down to low ??
@@NataliePelletier-v9v Hi! Bring it down to low.
would this b just as good if i used a large caldero?
Yep!
Do you leave on medium high heat for hour and a half ?
@@Lovethy__beauty No, on lowish heat
I’m trying this tmm
Hello, I wanted to confirm does it take 1 hour and half for the bistek to come out tender, soft? Not tough to eat?
Hi! The longer, the better! An hour and a half should be good enough!
What’s the heat that I should leave it on while it’s simmering after I put everything inside to make it
@@P_NoCap low 🙏🏽
Hey im actually making this rn following your video and it smells amazing, when i make my recipe for this i lower it to a lil higher than low and then cover. Do you leave on med high the whole time it cooks?
Hi! Leave it on low afterwards so that it doesn’t dry out!
Definitely going to cook this , when I try to make this dish always dries on me
Awe man! Make sure it’s being cooked on low/medium heat. If it dries out a bit, add water. Everything is just super concentrated, so it won’t get diluted!
@@mariscookingpr Thank you!
@@mariscookingpr Wow this looks incredible. Whats the English version of the green stuff you added to it? And could you also make this in the oven coz I too am worried about the beef drying out
For the 1hr and a half on what heat do you leave it on?
Low! 😊
Dropping videos on a TUESDAY!! 🥳🙌

Amen
