Zimbabwean team crowned World Champions at the 2022 International High School Moot Court Competition

- A team of Zimbabwean students have just been crowned World Champions after winning he 2022 International High School Moot Court Competition.
Zimbabwe was the only country representing Africa in the international virtual event with a team of nine girls and two boys. The students were selected from different schools around the country.
This was the first time that Zimbabwe competed in this prestigious competition. To tell us more we are now joined by Teams coach Nqobile Dube, and some of the team members Palesa Sigauke, Kuziva Khuleya, Hazel Chiige, Tadiwa Choto, and Chiyevo Mukonoweshuro.

My goodness, these children sound like they have received intensive media training!!! I am completely wow'ed!!! Truly, they are so well spoken, precise, depth...yoh haai, so proud, so so proud
No media training, this is standard Zim education. Generally it’s an expectation to at least be “well spoken” in at least 2 languages. To stand out from the rest, being fluent in English, Shona and Ndebele is impressive and is an example of “extensive media training” as you put it. Knowledge of Xhosa, Shangani, Chewa and/ or Swahili is a bonus and very impressive. Coming across such individuals is not rare at all. Bilingual is the norm and knowing at least 5 languages is impressive in this part of Africa.

Definitely no media training. If you know anything about Zim education, you’ll understand. Being well spoken is part of the education system especially if you participate in public speaking and debate clubs in school.
Zimbabweans always came first academically in High School, they are very passionate about education 🇿🇦
Because it is the only thing in our country that may give you somewhat a bit of a decent life. Everything else is quite off the table, if you want to live a clean life and earn clean money

Our children can do it. The best thing we can give our children in Africa is the opportunity to go to school. Some may not excel academically but the fact that they had an opportunity to go to school, it becames easy to train them other things.
