I've always been a huge fan of fishing and know a lot about it, but I feel like doing trawling is kind of hard in this game. Without any collisions it makes it harder for styles of trawling like stern trawling where the net has to go through the small slot at the back of the boat. I just feel like trawling is kinda boring and dry in a game like this where you have many missing details that would make nets better that unfortunately aren't possible in the game.
Longlining would have been a much easier fishing method to implement into the game. I was actually really hoping they would, and I commented a few times in the workshop about that, but I don't think any of the devs would have read it.
Real life trawl nets use a combination of floats and weights on the net, but in order to make a net in SW, you need to rope four net anchors together, meaning you can't really attach anything else. You could try attaching rope anchors to the net anchors and then roping a net-anchored weight or float to that, but I've already tried this and it doesn't play nicely with the game physics. The nets are very hard to control as of yet.
Stormworks used to be just a boat game and now it is the best building/engineering/rescuing game i know of.
except the devs are killing it and space suck

it used to be a rescue game and now its much more and also better
@@CASA-dy4vs clearly you dont build in this game...
Connect all 4 ends of the net anchor points to the pullies with rope don’t connect them to the physical boat. Hope this helps.
if these nets clip through the ground and there is sea beneath the ground? dose that mean you could fish on land with these things?
yes technically!
Fish data is in the hospital in the fishing village. ¿
i guess its random?
Someone said the new fish update requires you to restart a new world for all the new stuff. Fish village shows it on the map in other vids I've seen.
I’m so happy that it’s here. I can’t wait to mess around the nets.
The nets would work more like rigging on a ship than sails.
Obviously, you can't climb it, but it's still asthetically pleasing.
prof, to get the fishing vendor i think you should maybe create a new save because the fishing vendor appeared at tajin airstrip for me
I'm halfway through now, I'm wondering if you can hook ropes from on-deck winches to the corners of the nets as well?

I agree, I decided to request a feature about crabbing to geometa, but they for some reason closed it because it was a "duplicate" like wtf
Wouldnt the fish info be in the fishing villages?
Great to see your update
So you don’t hook power to the toggle? I’m having trouble with getting nets to extend
You should look at real life fishing boats and how they do it.
