    She’s telling the truth! The week before my period I would be miserable, barely able to make it through a day fasting but as soon as Flo shows up, not even hungry lol

      I usually feel crappy when i don’t fast and happy fast once period happens! The only thing that stops me is when I get my period migraine and I have to eat to take ibuprofen 😑 not sure how to increase progesterone

    Yes. Fast during your bleeding phase of period. Eat "keto biotic(?)". Week before bleed phase DO NOT fast. DO eat healthy carbs week before period.

    I know it sounds odd, but it's wonderful to have this permission/confirmation to listen to my body. During my period, and right up to ovulation, I can fast so easily, and my weight drops right down, but after ovulation and until my period, I am ravenous. I still eat really clean, but it's so good to know I should listen to my body and feed it! It's not just me being greedy! Thank you.

    Women are told we can't accomplish much while on our periods. This really psyched me out. I thought I was just a Moody woman. NOW, I have my whole calendar color-coated, and I'm tracking my cycle. I haven't even read your book yet. It's coming today ❤ Thank you, thank you.

    I had a sign of relief when you mentioned, getting super hungry a week before your period. Cos that's been my experience for like the last 2 years or so, or maybe I'm noticing it now because I'm finally taking tracking my cycle more seriously. For a minute I thought something was wrong with me, cos of how crazy hungry I get a week before.. and if I don't eat the moment I feel the hunger and wait too long before eating my chest starts feeling a little heavy and I feel tired. But I hardly feel hungry when on my period, in short I barely eat when on my period, I used to think that was "dangerous" for my body. My acne always improved each month after my period, and that was before I discovered the benefits of intermittent fasting, I officially started IF September last year and reducing carbs and staying away from bread and junk. My skin is way better and PMS and period symptoms has gotten better. P.s I love your energy, although the first few times I was like "whoa she's so energetic"

      @@CG-mj8tk Yes to get out of ketosis because it doesn't allow you to produce progesterone - but I don't consume sugar or refined carbs.

      Did you learn how to do this from that book “Fast like a Girl”? I’m getting desperate here with PMS the week before my period. It’s just getting worse and worse and I need help. I have IF before and it helped I just don’t know what I’m doing sometimes. Maybe I need this book. Hope I make sense.

      @@fullofblessings4898 Only from her videos and others research maybe the book has more information. I myself used to have very bad PMS but once I started keto, IF and prolonged fasting it helped reducing the symptoms and get rid of the mood swings. I don't fast and get out ot ketosis the week before my period and once my period starts I water fast. For some women it's also important to get out of ketosis the day of ovulation.

    Dr. Mindy, you are just a God’s sent angel!!! What an incredible source of knowledge and is 100% true!!! I am a tough faster - I try to do 36-48 hrs every week. Now this week was before my period and no matter how hard and tough I tried to be, I just could NOT win the fight. I broke down every day this week thinking that I will start my fast tomorrow, and yet failed again! And the carbs!!! OMG - I feel like I can eat a whole pot of potates, rice, pretzels, and everything carby!! After listening to this video - it ANSWERS everything i was fighting with myself this past week! Like u said, I can’t wait for my cycle to start so I can jump on my happy fasting!!! Ps. I ordered the Fast like a girl thru audiobook and cannot wait to start it! Thank you thank you thank you!     Thank you Dr. Mindy, I thought something was wrong with me. Currently on my period and I don't feel hungry at all! It's incredible. And you're right, I tried 36hrs four days ago and had a hard time keeping to it, decided to take a smoothie somewhere at 26hrs into it and ate crazy when I broke it. Now it's clear what is happening, I have to get "Fast like a girl"!

    I’m in the week before my period and I’m hungrier and can’t do longer fast like I always do. But now I know what to do because I always did the opposite!
    I will eat when I feel hungry and fast again when my period starts and keto is also nothing new to me 🥑🫶🏼✨

    I have fasted for many years back and forth but never have anyone in talked about the cycle. I live in Sweden and there is so little knowledge around this topic. Aroud anything considering women health with menopause or any other hormonell problems. So finding your channel is so amazing. I´m going to share this with all women I know. Waiting for the book. :)

    I came across your videos a month ago and I have started 13 hours fast for the first month - I have pcos, my period came without I ever knowing it, the flow seems to be more normal as well. Weight did not change much yet, I am looking for a longer fast and looking into cleaner tea, coffee options and learning more about food to eats after fast. and btw, I saw one of your videos and learned that you filmed at rose garden (I think) and immediately recognizing the background. I also just bought your book and I can't wait to read it and start losing weight and get healthier. I have been putting up so much weight last 5 years and after pregnancy made it worse. I am ready to get back in shape. Thanks for everything.

    Thank you for this video. I am currently on a water fast ( 4 weeks in). I got my period and it has been horrible, heavy, and irregular. As of today, it has been on and off for 2 weeks. I don't want to stop fasting because I am getting great results.

    Yes, she is telling truth but you probably need adjust according to your specific conditions. My period this month comes with spotting on first two days. In the two days, I felt lethargic as she said. But my appetite still very good but I am fed up after 2 meals (I usually ate 3 meals). When full flow came, I felt difficult to digest one meal. So I did a 24 hour fasting (ate a table spoon butter 4 hours apart). My period is usually heavy due endometriosis/adenomyosis. This time it was much better. I have also stared carnivore diet two weeks ago. I felt carnivore diet and fasting are two great tools to eliminate inflammation in pelvic due to digestion. Although just starting, I saw signs of improvement and hope. Dr. Mindy's experience is highly valuable. ❤❤❤ to Dr. Mindy.

    It's magical how our body will send signals to us when the time is right!!! Totally glad that during all these years prior to the information , I've listened to my body, would drop fasting around the last week of my cycle, have steamboat buffets and would break my fast in the morning.
    I was sometimes disappointed at myself for not pushing through that last week but now I'm just grateful.

    Been fasting for years but at 48 I usually don’t cycle (nor do I want too 😂)
    Last weekend I ate every carb in the house lol when I’m generally keto/carnivore.
    Then started my period this week! Hasn’t been bad, but that totally explains the carb cravings!
    Got right back on my IF and just as you said, by day 2 was like I could fast all day!

    Fasting during my period has made it very light and dropped from 5 days to 2-3 days. Now I have low blood sugar issues and have to eat more often bcuz as the blood sugar drops, I get heart palpitations and anxiety. I believe the fasting has affected my adrenals. I also have sleep issues when I don't eat enough during the day.

      My blood sugar sometimes drops too low when I fast long during my period. I become very dizzy and exhausted. 😔 I guess everyone has a different physiology.

    I recently did a 66 hour fast a week before I ovulated. Since then I have been experiencing what I thought was pregnancy symptoms. About 12 different symptoms for 2 full weeks during my Luteal phase, and they were very intense. The reason I suspected pregnancy was because my normal pms symptoms are very mild and only consist of 2 symptoms 1 day prior to my period arriving. I've taken 2 pregnancy tests and they are negative, so I was wondering if a longer fast may have been the reason my body is acting differently? I'd love to hear from you and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Absolutely loving getting into the fasting lifestyle

    First week of IF for me. I started on the first day of my menstrual cycle. I’ve been going back and forth between 16 and 24 hours fasts daily. I feel so much better than I expected. I feel motivated to try different fasting hours through out the months moving ahead.

    Hi Dr Mindy and thank you for all you do. I have your book the Menopause Reset and I'm trying out your recommendations. I'm 44 and have a cycle of 24 days. I get menstrual migraines anywhere between day 23 and into day 4/5 of my next cycle. I haven't been fasting in that window as not eating regularly can trigger/worsen symptoms. I was continuing to eat progesterone enhancing foods but from listening to this video I'm thinking that I should switch to more keto foods once I start to bleed. Do I have that right? Thank you for your help 🙏 ❤️

      During migraines the brain desperately needs more glucose, so keto would be wrong. The idea is to implement fast like a girl fasting rhythms to help the body balancing the hormones over time. I aim to follow her guidelines, but during migraine phases I eat a lot of glucose to help my brain. I hope we all never have a migraine again!

    This makes so much since why I couldn’t get over these pregnancy-like cravings the week before my period. Just wanting protein, chocolate, fruit and carbs then not even wanting to think about food the week of. I started IF and it has changed my world. I now have no cramping, I don’t feel so emotionally imbalanced and my hormones are through the roof. I used to cramp so bad I couldn’t move, my mood swings were so terrible and I wanted to be left alone and not be touched. Now I can’t keep my hands off my husband 😅☺️ P.S. I bought the book 😉

    Okay started on 9/15/23 (used the Moon Cycle in the app) since I had no idea when the last cycle was; tried all that I know to do reading the box and listening to your instruction. All is great. today 10/15 I started spotting (lightly) so Do I now change to the Nuture Pharse day 20 - no fasting (hormone feasting) track from this point so as to get back on track (58 yrs old). Kinda make sense to me but I will await your reply. Thanks.

    When I started to bleed this month and did 24 hour fasts the first two days... my ovaries hurt :( what does that mean ? I have PID 45 yo. But the cycle before when I did 36 hour fasts, my ovaries stopped hurting. So I'm confused.

    I have been fasting like a girl for only a month and my period didn't show up🤔😂. the past two cycles were light and short (3 and 2 days) but this time nothing! I'm 47 so I've just started the cycle all over again. I'm sad it didn't turn up as I had all the symptoms it was turning up. I nurtured and everything so now I'm going hard and fasting and fingers crossed Aunt Flo will come visit me this month. The all day without eating was today! I'm working on losing 40kg, gained during the nurture phase but now on the move again.

    Life changing for me. I’ve been fasting all wrong around my cycle. I am now fasting on my period it’s been the easiest fast ever, I did 18 hours fast, ate for 1 hour window, currently fasting for 19 hours. It’s not been difficult at all. I am definitely following this advice in the future

    Hi! I do a mostly carnivore way of eating, but I do have an avocado with every meal, I also most often do OMAD because that just really works for me. So as far as carbs that week before my period, what would you recommend?

    I got Dr. Mindy’s book but haven’t started reading 😂I’m about to have my period in 4 days I feel so tired and never have enough sleep, back ache etc. I started Alternate Day fasting two weeks ago and I love it.     I was excited to have started my period yesterday! I did up my carbs and ate some strawberries the week leading up to my period (i do keto). I did a 20 hr fast yesterday and doing another one today. But i did notice today im having headaches, started around the 13 hr mark. I made my LMNT drink and im at the 16 hr mark, still with a slight headache. Any suggestions? Thank you!

    I really want to implement this in my life. I had a baby a few months ago I’m trying to lose a lot of weight. I’m doing keto and fasting. How can I up my carbs the week before my period but still stay in ketois? What can I eat that has more carbs to help with progesterone but not kick me out of ketosis? Maybe like more fruits and vegetables that are still
    Low carb, just more quantity than I normally would?

    I am a frequent faster and tried this method for the first time. It worked well for me. It was easier for me to do the fast after eating prior to my period. This lady is on to something.

    Only just last week did I stumble across Dr Mindy on a podcast. The book is on its way, I’m so excited. I’ve just spent over £1000 on a private hormone lady GP but feel no better even though on bio identical hormones! Im perimenopausal and have periods every 21/23 days. Hopefully the book will allow for this cycle!
    My other concern is if I eat my last meal at 6.30pm and go to bed about 10.30pm I feel so hungry I wake up feeling panicked! If I get to sleep before the hunger kicks in I can go till 10am the next morning. Im wondering if my hormone replacement will affect the fasting! Im rubbing on progesterone twice daily apart from when I bleed, but then I bring in a low dose of oestrogen cream from day 5 to ovulation! Gosh it’s all so in-depth. Fingers crossed the book covers all this. 😊

      I'm like you and have had a few 21/23 day cycles over this past year, some still a bit longer but my current one was 22 days. I tried fasting today and I'm not sure if it was the delay on having my usual caffeine or the hormones not liking the fast but I had the worst headache followed by nausea and I ended up aborting my fast at 15 hours and it took another couple of hours, some food, some cups of tea and a pain killer to feel half normal again. Formerly I've managed 16 or 17 hour fasts without that much trouble so I'm wondering if my hormones had something to do with it today. I have been low carb / keto on and off for the last 4 years and I also get heart palpitations and wake in the night with my fingers going numb and tingly, as well as getting that dizziness going from squatting to standing (low blood pressure I think). I take electrolytes but maybe I don't always catch it in time but I have struggled a lot with the keto flu symptoms and end up eating some carbs again to make it go away. I also wonder if it caused my cycles to shorten over time. But then, I am 48yo, so it's about the time that it would be happening naturally. One thing for sure, the low carb / keto thing really does make for a lighter less painful period for me. But with these new shorter cycles, I get hormone headaches and nausea usually leading up to the period and even the early ovulation sometimes. But this cycle I was just moody before my period and only got a horrible headache and nausea on day 2 of my cycle because I tried to fast and skipped my early cup of tea.. It was a disaster. Took me hours to recover from it. Oh, I meant to say as well, I tried HRT for the shortest stints. We only get progesterone as tablets and not cream so I couldn't take smaller doses, but the progesterone was giving me nightmares and panic before falling asleep. And the estrogen just gave me more flushes, probably because I'm still making some of my own and it might even be higher than it should be sometimes. Hard to predict the right way to use HRT in the early stages of perimenopause, isn't it? Have you seen the video on people eating butter to support their hormones? Some say eat butter before bed to help you sleep - might wake up less hungry too.

    Thanks Dr Mindy for this helpful information. I'm 52 and still getting my period. To complicate matters I had a pulmonary embolism two months ago. So I'm on blood thinners and let's just say I'm having horrible accidents that looks like a crime scene took place. Before this all started I was doing the OMAD and I was on a 3 day fast when I was admitted. My question is, after I start the keto when I have my period, do I remain on it for the rest of the month until a week before? Or do I just eat Keto when I'm not fasting? I'd like to do the Omad and then Keto. I haven't had great success on Keto as it gives me heart palpitations. I think I was having too much fat. I do have your book and haven't got to this section yet. There's too much information to chew on so I'm reading and rereading constantly. :) Thanks for all your vidoes. I watch you every day.

    At the beginning of August I started pushing my fasting windows longer. I did a 36 hour fast and then my period came on. I spotted for 2 weeks! And then I have not had a period since then, and it is now October. I thought because I’m 48 maybe that was just the end… The finale of perimenopause. But once again, after coming off of a 36 hour fast two days ago I was so hungry! And I noticed I did not really lose any weight during my fast like I normally do. And today I weighed more than I ever have. I’m tired and hungry and all of a sudden my period showed back up! Now I’m not sure whether or not, I’m supposed to be fasting , but I definitely feel like my body is out of whack and I’m not happy about the weight gain or the lack of energy. I’m happy that my period resumed, but not sure if I should mess it up by trying to extend my fast this week and getting back into an exercise regime.

    This certainly tallies with my experience. I’m borderline unable to fast in the week to ten days before my period, and used to be unnecessarily self-critical about it. I’d be ravenously and insatiably hungry, especially for carbs. Within the first few days of starting my period, usually after day one cramps settle, my hunger drops off a cliff and I find myself able to go much longer periods without food. Validating to know the hormonal mechanisms behind this pattern.

    Yes, and I feel like during periods it's the best time for longer fasts. Here's my story and why I'm so grateful to your channel:
    During 2020 I gained some weight and then I discovered fasting in that summer and I was really excited to try it to get back on track. At first it felt great and I lost all that weight until autumn but I didn't knew about how fasting was impacting my hormones and because I was tending to go for longer fasts all the time and I did OMAD almost every day, I started to feel more sick after a couple of months.
    I normally have short cycles (around 25 days) but I stressed my body so much that I ended not having my period on time and even having a delay of almost 40 days. Besides that I felt really bloated, I started to have all sorts of cravings, I couldn't sleep well anymore and I felt like crap overall. I panicked and I realized that somehow that kind of fasting messed up my hormones and health so I stopped.
    For a period of time I managed to keep that weight but fast forward to 2022 with a lot of stress and chaotic eating I gained everything back. It's not a lot, but enough for me to try to be fit again.
    So this summer I started to do some research about fasting for women knowing already that fasting is actually great but trying to figure out what I was doing wrong last time and why I couldn't transform it in a way of living.
    This is how I discovered your channel that completely changed my life. I learned from you everything I needed to know about my own hormones, I started to fast like a girl 🥰 and I even managed to regulate my cycles to 28-29 days following your protocol of fasting. Moreover I don't have acne anymore and I feel healthier than ever. I don't even have to track my cycles anymore to really know if I'm in my last week and need to slow down the fasting cause my body is already telling me what should I do. I just listen to my cravings and treat Progesterone with respect cause she's a sweetheart and I consider the last week of cycle my sweet period of self love and little treats.
    In the end the fact that I lost that weight was just a bonus compared to the most important thing I've learned in my journey: being healthy should always be our goal.

      @@aditisharma2947 I usually have longer fasts during the first 10 days of my cycle (around 18-20 h fasts daily or even one 48h fast). Then I slow down my fasts in days 11-15 (around 14-15 h fasts). After ovulation I have again longer fasts for another 5 days (around 16-20 h depending how I feel). And after day 20 of my cycle I no longer fast until I have my period.

      That's exactly what happens to me. The week before my period I fast with no issues. As soon as my period starts I feel constantly hungry and fighting the urge to eat, sometimes I can control it but most of the time I end up eating. Once my period is done I can easily go back to my fasting routine.

    This was my first month trying to follow the fasting cycle. About a week before my period I was getting hungry super early and so I honored that and ate and added more carbs (mostly from fruit). The scale did go up a little but I'm 2 days into my period and I'm lower than I've been since starting fasting, diet change, and exercise 5 months ago! It was temporary and my cramps, while still there, are not as bad as usual. I'm hopeful that, as I get better at following the fasting cycle, it will get even better
