Not going to lie, the main reason I'm watching this video is for the 85 Bears. That being said, I love these types of videos and channels. You earned a follower
BEAR DOWN!!
They were special..if it was possible to have a tournament with all of the super bowl winners, I wouldn't be surprised if the 85 bears made a huge splash and possibly even won it all. The defense was incredible. I don't know if they could handle today's pass happy teams though.
Well actually I believe they lost to Miami that year..
Indeed. That's where it all started for me
When NFL Uniforms peaked. The league needs to go back to all of those beauties.
Cedric Benson. Please 🙏
They were ugly then
Wtf. Especially the huge shoulder pads. They look way better now.
Agreed..lose the shoulder pads, but bring back the old jerseys!
Too bad.
THE KING HAS RETURNED
IM RIDING YOUR COAT TAILS FOR DOPAMINE
Thoroughly enjoyed this. The 80s is the decade I grew up falling in love with football but when I saw this video my thought was 'Wow. An hour long. Let me start it but also put it in Watch Later'. Flew right by. Watched the entire thing in one sitting and loved every second of it. Very well done, sir.
In 1981 Ronnie Lott immediately became one of the best cornerbacks in the league. He later switched to free safety and was among the all-time greats at safety.
I was just getting ready to comment the same exact thing you did
That’s because CBs don’t get to hit as hard or as often as Safeties. And Lott could REALLY hit.
bro I subscribed to you when you were at like 2k. Haven't seen you in a while, and it's nice to see that ur doing well!
Love hearing this. Thanks for tuning in!
Thanks!
Thank you so much! You're the best!
I’ve been waiting EONS for this LETS GOOO‼️‼️‼️
The 80s were the pinnacle of the NFL.
They were not. The 2000s were. 2000 to 2012 or so.
It’s almost like when you was growing up it was the best 😂
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these videos. Listened to it with my flag football teammates in a long car ride driving back home.

aye bro, i specifically searched for this and you didnt dissapoint, subbed
these videos are so great and well done. hope we can get more they are worth the wait!
Amazing content. Love to see others with a pasion for nfl history! Can't wait for the next video
Love the history of the greatest game of all time.
been waiting for this 🔥
As a raider fan I really hope Antonio Pierce can give us that bad guy energy back. Something we’ve been lacking since the 80s, and 90s!
I’m ready for the Raiders to win another one ! I’ve been a Raiders fan since the 60’s-70’s! I really hope we have a good season!
If Gruden ever gets reinstated would you want him back as coach?
@@mafia_dave32NO!!! His drafts were horrible and Gruden was horrible at making in game adjustments 🤦🏾♂️
@@alonzomadero9413Fellow Raider fan since '72. It aint coming back fellas
this is simply awesome! hats off to you sir
Love videos like this! Thank u.
Love these videos!
The 49ers benefitted from being in perhaps the weakest division whereas the Redskins were easily in the toughest.
The Redskins division generally was brutal. But in 87-88, that was not the case. Lol
This is my first time watching your channel and loved hearing the history of the 1980s nfl. I have subscribed and will start binging every single video of yours immediately.
This is the best video.. A++++ again.. you are KING
HE’S BACK
Awesome job making this. Thanks
Been waiting on this for months
I love stuff like this. God bless all you sports TH-camrs like this. New sub here
MONTANA IS THE FACE OF THE NFL IN THE 80S
These are great thanks pls do 2010s
Always worth the wait
This why I’ll never put Patrick Mahomes over Joe Montana
I didn't like either of them , but I agree with you .
They are all under John Elway
Can't wait for the Ultimate 1940s nfl recap
I know, the nostalgia is gonna go through the roof.
i’d watch tf out of that, i must REALLY be a nerd lol
I would love that.
I just got done watching the '90s decade recap...Now, here comes the '80s recap! Again, great job on these👍👍.
Final note, Terry Bradshaw saw the future on the '89 Superbowl score. He was only off by 1 touchdown! 55-10 San Francisco. His prediction, 55-3 at halftime.
Love the videos!!!
Love seeing 80s nfl highlights
If McMahon didn't get hurt the BEARS would have owned the 80s.
Great memories! This was during a time when Pro Football was highly competitive and physical.
The 1970s was also a great era in the NFL.
Now we quietly wait another 3 months for the 70s🙏🏾
It’s moments like these that remind me there are still good people in the world.
Love it!
Great Video! Cant believe U mention Maddens game Debuting and not Tecmo Bowl! LOL! Super Tecmo Bowl Was better, but thst was much better than Madden football till mid 90s ...
The 1980s was the best era in NFL history.
One of the best most definitely! However, I think that the 1970s was also very special! The athleticism was getting better in the 1980s.
Sadly, the overall sport and the NFL have regressed into the worst decades in these current days.
Nfl in the 80s was SUPREME ❤❤❤
19:34 Jim Lampley? 😂 Man I miss the HBO boxing team
OK HERE WE GO
In the NFL in the 80s there were 5 real teams that took turns and 23 teams that gave away free exhibition game tickets at the tire shop. And you could smoke dope in the upper deck at the Silverdome.
I love me some 80s NFL specially since I'm a 50 year 49ers faithful fan but OMG all video before about the year 2000 is like half in focus how did they ever get calls in bounds and Outbounds and all of the stuff we enjoy now we can see right down to the pixel? Very thankful for the HD world I live in today.
If the internet was invented in the 80s, the San Francisco 49ers would've been the most hated NFL team. 🤣
Nevertheless, that's impressive by them by winning 4 Superbowls within that decade.
Plunkett showed what he could do when he had a good line to protect him. 1980 was a good year for him and 1983 was really good when he was benched but came off the bench with renewed energy and really kicked some butt!
Only QB to win two superbowls not in the in the HoF. TBH he probably doesn't belong there, but it is an interesting statistic.
@@ElwoodPDowd1970 Eli Manning is another 2x Super Bowl champion not in the Hall of Fame (not sure if he's eligible yet, though).
The best quarterback to ever play joe montana!
@26:15
Did you just use summoning salts music?
Yes, yes you did
Every decade please. Also do every other sport - can't wait to see NHL in the 1970s!
Can’t argue with the Team of the Decade nor the All Decade Team. Good job!
Well I don't understand Mel Blunt being on the all 80's team. I mean all 70's OF COURSE, thats the biggest no brainier ever. The man literally altered the way the entire game was played in the 70's. He only had 2 great years in the 80'a and retired in 84. I don't get it. There are several players who deserved that spot more in the 80's.
@@ExperienceEric Lester Hayes would make more sense tbh. He made five Pro Bowls in a row in the 1980s.
@@ConspiracyQueryDotNet That would be one of my first picks as well. Darrell Green would be another.
Not enough Bears, lol. The '86 Bears defense was even better than '85. Charles Martin assault on McMahon should have been prosecuted in court. A couple late 80s Bears teams were great too. 🐻⬇️
Caleb comming for ya'll!!!
LETS GOOOOOOOOO
~~ Coach of the 80's would have to be Joe Gibbs - his last super bowl win was in the early 90's - but he won 3 out of 4 - with 3 different QB's - and none of those QB's were superstars - and his teams over more than a decade were mostly lacking superstars ..
👍good
Nice to go over the old day's when I thought it was actually a competitive league and wasn't fixed.😢 Great video 👍 Terrible league.
can you do these with college football ? these are fire
Ronnie Lott was not a safety initially in his career. He played cornerback first.
I remembered my class performing the Superbowl Shuffle in a class assembly.
WE NEED A 2010s RECAP!!!!
80’s recap in a nutshell
49ers dominated
Bears 46 defence
Lawrence Taylor
Broncos getting spanked in Superbowls
Dan Marino
Eric Dickerson & Marcus Allen
And the short but rembered carrier of Bo Jackson
bro please do some nba recaps, would be insane
Elway elway elway! He was the king of the 80’s and the 90’s
I’ve been waiting on this! I need the 2010s tho 😂
LETS GOOO
We hold the throne king 👑
Look at that. 1984 and 85 had two 15-1 records who dodged the team that beat them after the Steelers and dolphins lost in afc championships
Not really dodging a team that isn't good enough to win
@@HoganLegDropSoup they both made it to the conference championship game. And beat the eventual champs for their only loss. Steelers may have gotten lucky vs the miners yeas. But the bears were lucky the dolphins got worked by the patriots.
The 🐐
And in 85 Walter Payton should've been allowed to score a TD in the bowl. So shitty
So the Patriots shouldve let him score?
@@aaronjackson9385 No. The Patriots were not hard to score on. The BEARS should've given Payton the ball at the goal line.
@@murphyslaw7815 he got goalline carries. The Pats oversold to stop him that game.
@@aaronjackson9385 Mike Ditka himself said one of the biggest regrets he has was not giving Payton more chances to score. He said he just wasn't thinking about it at the time.
@@murphyslaw7815 i have watched countless documentaries on Walter Payton and the 85 Bears. Of course I heard him say that. What was he gonna say? Walter Payton had 22 carries for 61 yards. The Patriots keyed in on him all game. If Payton wouldnt have pouted about it, I doubt it would have been as big an issue. I know Barry Sanders, Earl Campbell, OJ Simpson etc wish they were in a position to complain about not scoring a touchdown in a Superbowl blowout.
as a Redskins fan, I miss those days
Yeah you do!!
Why isnt fred dean in hof?
Great 1980 recap, except you left out one of the greatest NFL debuts in Billy Sims opening his career for Detroit at the Rams' first-ever home game in Anaheim. Sims was spectacular that day!
Would've been neat to see the 1983 Chargers insane stats mentioned. In a full-length 17 game season, based on their averages per game, Fouts would've had 5445 yards, WR Chandler would've had 2193 receiving yards, and TE Winslow would've had 1361 yards. Second one being a record and the other two being pretty close. Fouts had more yards per game than Marino in his legendary season, with 320.3, and is still 10th all time.
First time i've heard Roger Craig reffered to as a Full Back; am i missing something? Nice vid though.
I was surprised when news of Jim brown being a fullback and Marcus Allen was a fullback when the raiders got bo Jackson. Both were shocking the first time I heard it.
@@christopherking4932 Roger Craig was a RB. Marcus Allan was demoted to FB because of tensions with the front office (Al Davis). In Jim Browns days, FB was a much more prominent position. By the time Craig was in the league however, the HB position was well established philosophically. I remember watching Craig play and never, Pro Bowls and all, was ever a fullback. Not a big point but I imagine you understand how this YT commenting thing goes some times.
I feel like I remembered roger craig saying that he was told to prepare to play fullback with the ninerss after being drafted. Pretty sure he did so at nebraska also.
1983 NFC Championship was the greatest crime ever by an officiating crew.
Did you forget Lott played CB in his early years.
the literal goat
HTTR
how many rules today are because of the raiders
jim mcmahon smfh... if he stays healthy dem bears would be talking about a dynasty ...they were rough riders w mcmahon! they won 25 strait and a superbowl w mac starting... jus a nasty team that has 1 title so crazy to me
I know it’s going in the opposite direction but you should do the 2010s
Perhaps one neglected detail pertains to the 1985 playoffs. In the Rams shutout of the Cowboys Eric Dickerson set a postseason rushing record of 248 yards in a game. The 1980's were the worst decade for Super Bowls with the exception of the 49ers and Bengals games.
let’s go
If I was a Qb coach at Jacksonville? I'd have M. Jones studying everything Plunkett. 😏
Say what you want about the 80s but no era will ever come close to those fire ass nicknames
nicknames are dead in today's NFL. in those days, they were creative and unique. now they're just players' initials
Go Giants
I always thought Reggie white and Randy white were the same person until the end of the video😂
Hit me with those 70s please
Sorry to nitpick the ‘81 Niners, but Lott was a CB across from the criminally underrated Eric Wright. He became a FS in ‘85 and a SS in the early ‘90s.
You’re 100% right. This will be fixed if I ever come out with an entire history of the NFL video!
Can I get a HELL YEAH
PLEASE DO A VIDEO ON THE 1970S NFL
Crazy how Bill Walsh Had He was Given The Chance In Cincinnati It wpuld be the Ohio Offense
How good was Jim Plunkett in the 1980 AFC Championship game---he had a Passer Rating of 155.8. That almost has to be a Record High for Conference Championship Games. It is more than 20 points higher than Marino's 135.4 in the '84 Conf. Champ. Game.
That new kick off rule has got to go!
letss gooo
This is when the NFL was great! It's certainly gone downhill since. With all the rule changes, terrible officiating and the lack of big hits the game just isn't what it used to be. You literally see bigger hits in college football and that is sad. Also you can't even breathe on the QB without a roughing the passer penalty, especially the top QB's in the league. Over the last 15 or so years I can't even count how many times the refs have affected the outcome of the game, especially in the playoffs, and there's never any accountability. It's a pretty shitty product today, but at least we'll always have these incredible moments when the game was great, thanks to the Sables and NFL Films.
Do ones is the 1970s and the 2010s
I clicked on this video so fast it's not even funny!
