- What The Harry Potter Cast Went Through In Makeup And Prosthetics To Achieve The Magic You See On Screen!

Being in a Harry Potter movie might seem like a dream come true, but in reality it wasn’t all fun and games. Especially when it came to the intense amounts of prosthetics and makeup that many of the cast and crew were forced to wear. Often, these makeup transformations meant spending an extra three or four hours sitting perfectly still in the makeup trailer while an artist covered their face in uncomfortable glue and fake body parts! This is especially true for when it came time to create magical creatures like Goblins! For each of the Gringotts goblins, and Griphook in particular, the process started at four in the morning! They had so much makeup on that they couldn’t move their faces, and contact lenses that prevented them from seeing. Being a body double for Hagrid was no easy feat either, as the actor was covered in an animatronic Hagrid mask, and huge, heavy padding complete with tubes of cooling water so he didn’t pass out from the heat! Daniel Radcliffe didn’t escape the makeup chair either, especially when it came to the intense underwater scenes during The Goblet of Fire. David Thewlis as Professor Lupin, Emma Thompson as Professor Trelawney, and Matthew Lewis as Neville Longbottom had their fair share of makeup troubles too, along with Draco Malfoy’s dad Lucius and Abberforth Dumbledore! Luckily for Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, they were able to get away without too much suffocating makeup and prosthetics, but they were probably the only ones who did!

Well now I know that it wasn’t CGI when I watch the 1st movie I’m still on chapter 8 in the 1st book so that’s how I know it’s not CGI for those senses
The countless hours sitting on a chair doing absolutely nothing whilst people touch your face to apply makeup on it must have been painful and exhausting.

And nobody is counting how many days (sometimes weeks) special fx MUA need to spend to prepare everything

@@tehe8161 this is such a long process, life cast, sculpting and the rest can take weeks, and for that people people even months of preparing🙈

They failed at making the characters that Warwick played look different, because he has such an iconic look no amount of prosthetics they gave to him could change that. He will always be Willow Ufgood to me.
You did a great job you deserve a whole bunch of reward for that I never even think that so much was done because of makeups I'm really proud I thought all of them was CGI

Sometimes are films worse than books. I read the books and saw the films. Both were amazing. I do not really like fantastic but I must say, I loved it. The actors and the whole team were adorable.

Edit: The marauders were could all be some sort of animal. They went to the shrieking shack each full moon, they were there for Lupin (James,Peter,Sirius) but when he transformed as a adult, they weren’t there for him. Sad right? ☹️🙁😭😭😭😢😢😢😔
