You guys are worthy successors to Tia and Cheveyo (One Pack Wanderers). So inspiring that you've seen more of Australia than 95% of Australians, and done it in such a warm-spirited and curious way. Love your spirit!
You said exactly what I was thinking!
Well said. Exactly what I was thinking. Just love positive people who see the best in everything. Hope the rest of your trip is enjoyable.
@@poltoons hey hope your having a good day! We plan on seeing so so much more and super excited to show you guys 😄
Made me smile with your pronounciation of Geelong. My Canadian and American friends on different occasions visiting made the same choice.
Yeah, I have taken Americans there and I didn't correct them. 😃
Made me laugh too. J'long, not Gee-long. I always politely correct my foreign friends. 😎
I think that no one should be corrected, because every English-speaking person has a strange pronunciation in a different way@@RobNMelbourne
@@Riga_Style I disagree. It is a sign of respect to get the pronunciation right. When I am overseas, I always find out the correct pronunciation so as not to appear ignorant and disrespectful.
Wonder how they pronounce giraffe.
And it's Gee long as in 'gee whiz' The G is a soft 'g', as in giraffe. Mostly, people say 'jahlong'. 🙂
I live in Torquay and head down this coast literally every other day. It’s still so beautiful but definitely becomes part of the day to day so always enjoy seeing others show so much love. Really makes you appreciate it all over again 😃 loving following your travels, great couple!
Another top video glen and mado. You guys are gold. If you could bottle you guys' enthusiasm, you would be millionares. Cheer. 👍
@@jayr4857 Awh your very kind jay really appreciate it buddy! Hope your having a great weekend 😃
@GlenAndMado you too, our friends. When you leave Australia, i promise that you will take some of it in your heart. And you will always be welcome back with open arms. That's non-negotiable. Lol. Such a cool couple. Cheers 🦘🦘🌴🇦🇺👍🇮🇪👍🇩🇪
It is wonderful seeing how people react to my home with fresh eyes.
how are you welcome to australia now that is what i call an aussie greeting just goes to show how proud to be born in this wonderful country the place that i am born and raised in
You would know by now that the best of the Great Ocean Road lay ahead. I grew up in the Otways in the 80's. A special place indeed
It's the world's longest war memorial, built to remember all we lost in WW1
You do not need breakfast before chocolate 😋 As a matter of fact, I have two squares of chocolate and a coffee for breakfast. 😊❤
That sounds amazing! The coffee is a must too 😂 you'll be buzzing for a while with starting your day with chocolate then sleepy 2 hours later lol
Have a coffee and matcha beverage on me !
@@Valliusmango thanks so much really appreciate it! 😀😀 should really get people to donate under the link of buymeacoffee as TH-cam takes 30percent on donations which is insane 😅
Thank you Glen & Maddo for reacting to my favourite part of Victoria, until a few years ago I was a regular visitor to these parts. I miss it! ❤️
Loving how much you're enjoying Australia! I opened TH-cam after work and I was so happy to see another post from you beautiful people! If you have a single gay brother Glen, let me know :😍😍😍
OMG pronounciation of Geelong , im in tears lol 😂, mado has the appetite of a sumo wrestler lol love it
In the spirit of your trip, I'm going to pronounce Geelong with a hard g too :D I grew up near the great Ocean road so it's home to me. The place I feel most relaxed in the whole world.
@@stopbunsenlol love it 😂😂
good old Jee-long
Apparently Zhaajn Zhook is no longer Jann Juck either.
Been asked which way to Kali-op (Calliope).
It’s one of my favourite places in Victoria great ocean road is a truly beautiful experience I really enjoyed watching you guys in one of my favourite spots to see your reaction !! I really just was watching TH-cam and discovered you guys now you’re one of my favourite things to watch!! Keep the great vibes guys and welcome to Australia 🇦🇺
I like these two.
Geelong is pronounced …the letter “G” long. The way you are pronouncing it is so cute.
If you're heading through Gape Otway book into Blanket bay, or Parker Hill camp ground. Free camping via national parks Victoria. Every camp ground get busy over Christmas and book out fast. Blanket is next to the beach Parker is on a hill. All the Otway camp sites are good. BYO Water.
Thankyou guys...
The southern coast of Australia is really unique ; the flora and landscapes are very uniquely Australian. Love Lorne! The beach is beautiful and the water so clear, wonderful to swim in as not much surf.
I love Great Ocean Road! Miss driving there in the morning and night, beach scenery is amazing!
Yeah its such a beautiful spot to drive along, we can’t wait to show you guys more of it!
Re you talking about living by the sea.I lived right on the coast for twenty years. The salt wrecks everything.Your car, house, fittings, tools, machinery and delicate plants.
On the plus side, the air is good for breathing, the sounds are incredible, weather is visible from hundreds of miles away, the beach changes daily and both sea life and bush creatures regularly make your day
I truly enjoy watching your journey through Australia. The beautiful beaches never get old
Mmmm. Almond croissant! You've set up the car brilliantly. Well done!
@@FredPilcher thanks very much Fred! Mado can’t get enough of a good croissant 😂
I understand that there is a 6 degree difference in the temperature of the water between the Indian and Southern Oceans as you turn the Cape in WA, so I assume there is a similar difference between the Pacific and Southern Oceans on the East Coast. It makes sense if you think about the water either being exposed to the tropics or Antarctica, in terms of where it is coming from.
I love your joy & enthusiasm. I hope you make it all the way to Port Campbell and Loch Ard Gorge. Enjoy!
I love how much you love our country ❤💙
Infectious enthusiasm. So pleasant. 😀🇦🇺👍
The lorne queenscliff reserve was point roadknight beach! A beautiful beach and very family friendly due to the protection of the cliffs and shallow waters. Great spot!
Down there a month ago, ballarat ,Anglesea,Warnambool, Portland Millicent,Mt Gambier, Hamilton to Ballarat 1051klms 3 days ,on the bikes ,luv that g.o.r
Wow, that's a serious ride, bet that was some good fun!
Hi Glen, The water can get pretty cold t Bells Beach as its pretty close to Antarctic. Just have a look at a map and you'll see how close the ice is!
I grew up in Bellbrae near Torquay and did Nippers at Jan Juc surf club.
The beach you went to in Torquay was fishermans Beach (fishos), and you seemed to miss the beautiful front beach/Cosy corner which was just up from fishos.
Jan Juc is a beautiful beach, but rougher, more for Surfing.
I can't wait to watch your next vlog as you continue down the Great Ocean Rd.
Wow thanks for the local insight! We’ll have to check out those other beaches next time!
Its nice to have some separate times when you're travelling, especially if you don't know people. It's healthy for your relationship. 😊
“Thank you Glenn for telling me how to eat” 😂
I've taken my Japanese wife along this road many times 😊...
It's easy to forget that it's actually fantastic 🎉
The gas burner being close to the mattress gives me anxiety lol The great ocean road and local forests are a treat. a Totally different area but if you get up as far as Cairns make sure to do a video at Rustys fruit Markets. Dec to Feb will have tropical fruits you might not have seen before. Harvey Bay is also really nice.
These two lived like this for 10 m ths in NZ. They are pretty savvy by now.
@@MalshiDog it really ain’t to bad actually! Works pretty well!
Its Tor key guys....Like Circular Quay where you were n Sydney...Quay is pronounced Key...You needed to cook the pasta in boiling water for a short while only.....the famous Bells Beach....known for its surfing....
Great showcase of our wonderful state! New sub from Melbourne. Gentle suggestion - I would enjoy hearing more commentary from Mado. She has a lovely gentle style.
Lorne is lovely, I love it there, they have a music festival there that's immensely popular.
Lovely video in my favourite bit of Victoria. I love your enthusiasm and your pronunciation of our place names!
The beach you stopped at after the coffee shop in Anglesea is Point Roadnight, a lovely safe family beach which has a resident stingray who comes in close to shore in the evenings. If you go around the point on the right hand side you are then on the ocean beach, not as safe but just as beautiful. The last beach was Urquharts Bluff (one of our favourite spots) if you walk to the right around the cliffs (only possible when the tide is out) you get to a lovely swimming hole known as mermaids pool. You missed stopping at Point Addis just before the chocolate factory, I love to pick up a pie from Freshwater Creek store and stop to eat it on the boardwalk at Point Addis looking at the amazing views. Addiscot is a fabulous beach on the road down to Point Addis (clothing optional on one section)
Enjoy the Great Ocean Road, its spectacular.
Loving watching all your adventures. Bells Beach is one of the top surfing beaches in the world they have massive competitions there all the time 😊
G Long.
@@MelodyMan69 we’re the ee 😂😂
You need to go to Apollo Bay, while on the great ocean road! You will love it!
The sea does warm up for summer but it takes until almost summer for the current to reach there.
Torquay is where the surf label Rip Curl was founded. The brand was also first to introduce the wetsuit on the market, as there was a need for something warm for surfers to wear in the ocean, since it is freezing for most of the year...
Also Quicksilver and Billabong from memory.
and also the brand ghanda was founded in torquay
@professornuke7562 billabong was founded on the Gold Coast. Quicksilver is now an American brand, and I wouldn't buy anything rip curl these days. Go woke , Go broke. And that's exactly what rip curl are doing. Rubbish products anyway. No loss. Cheers 👍 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Big lizard in carpark outside chocolate factory. You walked right past !
I rode my motor bike along The Great Ocean Road. Great trip 🤩
I don't think an extra plate would take up too much space so that you can eat together 😋😉
Not sure if you like fish but nearly any small coastal town will have a fish co-op/shop where you can buy fresh fish.
@@Blanchy10 we love fish but never cook it as it can really smell the car out lol
I love you guys, I wanna keep you, thank you for showing us our country ❤ ❤
Ha ha ha😂loved you eating your brunch in the car I thought glen was going to cry 😢
5:46. Too me this is so Australian. I get told that us Aussies are so laid back. We could sit here for hours, even days in the same spot.
I walked across the London Bridge over 30 years ago on the great ocean road and the best factory is in Hobart Tasmania
Urquhart Cliffs, pronounced 'Er-cart Cliffs'.
For all the research Mado does on her phone, us Aussies have come to realise she is not researching how to pronounce place names. No problem, you learn eventually. It adds the entertainment. 😁
Bell's Beach at 18:33 is one of the iconic surf beaches in the world. Every year at Easter, the hold The Rip Curl Pro Tournament, part of the international professional surfing World Surf League. With the Autumn/Winter swell usually between 6-8' but in 2017 it was 10-15'.
Wearing a rip curl hoodie atm lol chur 👍🍻🇳🇿
Bells is the Wimbledon of surfing competitions
Hard G so it’s Jee-long
Same with Jan Juc … Jan like Tan and Juc like Luck
And yet, we don't call geese jeece!!
The land of OZ.. Kinda magical >> Have fun... The RAV4 looks cool
Mate you killed me with the Gee Long
If your in Brisbane, Roma Street Parklands Enchanted gardens are on at the moment. And a free light show at the Star Queens Wharf until 15th December. A must do!
Sammy and Tommy Vs Glen and Mado. The battle of the vic dwelling charming couples
Jelong, Jalong. In between the two.
Yep, Melbourne beaches are A LOTTTTTTTTTTTT colder than Sydney Beaches.
@@DanielKing-dk5nr just what I need lol I want water like the Irish Sea! 😂
@@GlenAndMado Hey Glen, I love it when you get coffee first thing for the day, I am the same, but I have like 4 cups a day.
@@DanielKing-dk5nr that’s good going mate! Usually average 2 a day myself but seems like more in the videos 😂
I once went along the Great Ocean Road. The driver kept crossing the centreline on tight blind bends. On my left was a steep drop. I thought I was going to die and was so relieved that we returned to Melbourne via inland.
I ride my dirt bike in the forests near the chocolate factory. The ocean warms abit more in January February. Very hot on Monday even down great Ocean road 35c it is usually cooler about 24 c when Melbourne is 30c
I went to the Geelong Kustom Car show with my late father-in-law when he drove his beautiful 1942 Jailbar hotrod from near Byron Bay to my place in Melbourne. He kept saying Jee-long. I gave him a big bowl of curry over it, because they gave me shit over saying Baleena rather than Balinna the first time I went to visit them at their farm in Alstonville, near Ballina, NSW.
Love your endless positivity, up lifting. But it's Gee long. Gee as if "Gee that's great"
G town
The smell of the trees. If you have cold, grab some leaves off a gum tree, scrunch them up and smell them. It will clear your head.
@@Blanchy10 oh such a great idea!
You need an xtrail! You can remove the front seat's in 10 seconds making a perfect flat bed with 5"8 stretch (2004 -2006)
@@bmacadody9447 haha we have to deal with what we have for now as it just ain’t worth the hassle to change 😂 this would be about 6ft in our rav when the bed is set up
@GlenAndMado 6ft that is damn good! Didn't realise the potential!!
You should have gone to the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and ice creamery when you were in Melbourne. There’s also a dairy nearby that make amazing cheeses.
It’s the same company, they have 2 locations…
They actually have a third one in a large shop in the main street in the township of Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula
we never use the G O R... ALWAYS go through whinchelsea and deans marsh ... beautiful country side. especially in the mist
Glen's comment at 11:20 - "mild climate" ... hahahahaha. For a Queenslander it's f'ing freezing even after living in Melbourne for 30+years.
He’s from Ireland. Anything over 15c is warm.
@@clunkybootleg1357 HAHAHA, Having Irish friends I sort of expected that. 😁
If this is just after Halloween I'm guessing you're no longer in the area, but the best bakery in Warrnambool is Chitticks. You have to get there before midday though because they sell out at lunchtime.
Not sure if setting up a stove next to your petrol tank is the best move :D
You guys drove right past my home, wish I knew you guys earlier lol
Glen, how many styles of coffee have you tried in Australia? Cappuccino? Espresso? Cafe latte? Cafe Vienna? Marcato?
Actually just black coffee because then I can actually taste the beans and flavours of the coffee! if I have milk or sugar it ruins it for me lol. Also I don't like the sugar spike from the sugar and milk so I keep it clean just with black. I'm abit of a health cautious bloke behind the scenes
Also make sure you guys are wearing a hat and sunscreen. If your staying in the Australian sun. It can cause you too have heatstroke
And always make you very tired
Drink plenty of water :)
Other then that. Enjoy are amazing weather.
Here in Adelaide the weather has been perfect for the last week
Cant wait till you start exploring more of South Australia
Like the River Murray
I know i've probably missed you but if you need anything in Brisbane im here! Proper bed for the night, or home cooked meal - or just a few ideas on places to visit. Let me know!
Hi GUYS love your videos have you finished house sitting . Definitely try the seafood further down the coast enjoy your trip.
Funny shit watching you two, love it, God Bless.
15:00 we know what you're hiding under there. We saw your stash of chocolate earlier 😂
hey guys . how yuz doing . hope your well . and handling this heat ,,, this is only a taste of it . janurary is going to be hell fire hot ....
Lovely video as usual and The Great Ocean road is beautiful . I hope you get to visit Wilson’s Promontory too !
Oh, and if your in Brisbane still. The German Club at Wooloongabba :)
Please tell me you went to Loch Ard Gorge. It is easily one of the best parts of the Great Ocean Road. 10/10 Life long Victorian approved.
Haha… did you actually say “top of the morning to you” 😂
If you come back to the fiitzroy/Carlton area I'd love to take you both for a pint or two
Be careful with that pullout stove of yours! The mattress is much too close to an open flame. It wouldn’t take much to set your Rav 4 on fire. - better safe than sorry
Nice houses along the first street there when you were walking back to the car, but um NO THANKS, those tin roofs look bad, wouldn't want to try and sleep during the night when there is a storm, those roofs will be so loud with the rain hitting on top of them.
Most New Zealanders and Australians are of Irish and Scottish descent. Going with a Gaelic pronunciation is usually a safe bet in both countries
If you're going to be in Australia for a year or so, you should start trying to paying with cash instead of tap and pay.
On average, bank fees per year for tap and pay can be as much as $4,000 a year.
I love how Glen just makes shit up....like the Aboriginal Totums on the beach, which actually have nothing to do with Aboriginals. Its beach art. 🤣
He said, "I think these are Aborigine characters.I am just guessing. They are pretty funky".
It's Gee long like the name Guy or Gee.
Jilong
"Geee-long" the g is a long sound.
Gosh, the way Mado eats she will not be a skinny Aussie for very long!
Well you've only got 29 years, 11 months to go to see all the beaches in Oz...
Geelong is pronounced Jillong. Jill Long, but one syllable. Now try Korweinguboora. ;)
Yes, listen to the old bloke with the Ireland t-shirt on. Come on. You know you want to. We need more good people and you two fit the bill. You should come and live in Australia. We promise we'll be nice to you :)
And, yes, I'm allowed to speak on behalf of the entire country.
The totem poles are nothing to do with our indigenous culture. They've been there for decades and can be found in Geelong. The ones you saw on the beach were painted as surf lifesavers.
