Greetings from South Africa! I recently received my Radiodetection 50m 6.7mm Flexrod along with a Metrotech 22mm 9.8 kHz sonde. The Flextrace looked very interesting but I will just attach some wires to my rod if necessary. I'm using an old Metrotech 9800XT hence the uncommon sonde frequency

      Nice work Ryan.
And hey, it might be an old locator, but they still work very well. There is a reason why Metrotech has such a good reputation and that's cause they know what they are doing.

Really enjoy your videos Ben. I see you have switched to Vivax from the RD I hear the Vivax has a really good sonde mode. I have some trouble with
sondes under reinforced concrete paths does 512hz also give the same trouble.

      Hey Daniel,
I LOVE!!!! the sonde mode of the Vivax, it's so much better than RD.
That and the batteries were one of the main reasons I swapped.
Plus it has a couple of features that I find useful.
RE the reinforced concrete, I can't say I have remembered having any issues with it.
But I probably just haven't traced the sonde under reinforced concrete.
I've definitely had a situation where I couldn't locate a fire service under reinforced slab and then when I got to the otherwise where the slab ended I could then locate it again, so if that happens with the locator then it makes sense it would with the sonde.
With the frequencies, which frequency have you tried.
The lower it is the more defined it should be, but the higher it is the easier it should be to locate.

@@GeelongCableLocations thanks for the reply Ben sounds like the Vivax is a ripper. The sonde I use is 33 but i had a lot of trouble with an NBN duct 3-4m deep under a reinforced footpath I could only give accurate location and depth in bitumen driveways which was a bit of a nuisance. Hopefully work might buy some lower frequency sondes to try in those conditions. Keep up the good work 👍
