was not recorded in 1983.It was Recorded in 1979 and Luciano worked with The Orchestra for Bologna,ITALY.This song is on the 1979 Album Luciano Pavarotti O SOLE MIO FAVORITE NEOPOLITAN SONGS.I happen To Be 100% ITALIAN with the Dialects of Neopolitan and Siciliano and Have been A Luciano Pavarotti Fan since I was 4 Years Young.
I tried comparing this rendition by Pavarotti with other tenors who sang the same and Pavarotti was singing about two notes higher than the rest. He is truly in his element in the higher registries.

My favorite Korean tenor Kim Hojoong said he had enjoyed singing this song when he took a walk in Rome.
He sang it one full step higher than is usually done.. The high note is normally an A natural, he sang a B.

@@eugeniogentili1048 Corelli è il mio preferito quindi per me è il più bravo ma comunque oggettivamente ci son molti tenori del passato bravi. Del Monaco come ho detto. Però ho detto Pavarotti perché ,a parte gli ultimi anni dalla seconda metà dei 90 fino al 2006 ma va bhe li era malato, al picco era inarrivabile per i suoi contemporanei e di tenori venuti prima come del Monaco era alla pari. Pavarotti sapeva fare il falsettone e la mezza voce benissimo, cose che Del Monaco esempio non ha mai fatto, vuoi per la voce, vuoi per i repertorio che non gli interessava nemmeno ,a comunque non gli ha mai fatti.

Devo dire che non ascolto volentieri Pavarotti, nonostante la stima per le sue doti di cantante. Infatti mi pare che in realtà il suo repertorio autentico sia stato più da tenore leggero che lirico e lirico spinto, poi, si sa, ognuno fa quello che preferisce e se piace meglio così. Non credo che in altri tempi avrebbe avuto il successo che ha avuto, perché c'era ben altra gente a cantare e di grande scuola. Così, a furia di alzare la tonalità, rende le canzoni napoletane incolori e monotone. Questa per esempio, così appassionata, perde proprio la sua caratteristica passionale insieme alla scrittura centrale che aveva, dove le note gravi sono essenziali a rendere l'accento maschile della sofferenza sentimentale. Sono anche scocciato per aver comprato, anni fa, un album intitolato "Pavarotti, favorite neapolitan songs" : pensavo di aver preso tredici spartiti a poco prezzo e invece ho dovuto riportare quasi tutto alla tonalità originaria.
@Jack Tickler È un problema di timbro. Quello di Pavarotti non si addice affatto alla canzone in genere e tanto meno a quella napoletana, per quello che ho sostenuto più sopra. La profondità della voce è essenziale nell'esprimere la passione e purtroppo a lui manca. È ottima per il repertorio ottocentesco belcantista, dove i tenori dovevavo essere chiari e acuti ma dopo Caruso....Ora io cerco il più possibile di essere obiettivo, ma l'acuto di chiusura di questa canzone mi pare un pò strillato. Provi a sentire Caruso nello stesso brano e faccia il confronto. In effetti il problema della voce è proprio quello di portare in tutta la tessitura ogni risonanza, anche quelle cosiddette di petto perché l'organo di emissione è unico e anche la fonazione non deve subire modificazioni se non nella frequenza, mai nella risonanza. Lauri Volpi, voce nel timbro di base leggero e esile, acquistava nel canto una presenza e una profondità eccezionali ben testimoniata da ogni acuto e soprattutto dal Reb 5 di "A te o cara", da "I Puritani". Tenga conto in ogni caso che il mio è solo il parere personale di un dilettante.
@@riccardobarreca8066 Giusto per fare un esempio pratico,c'era CARUSO che era MARADONA,e poi tutto il resto fino ad oggi,che a mio parere,messi tutti insieme,pavarotti e company e tutti gli altri famosi,non erano nemmeno il testicolo sinistro di Caruso,( sarranno anche dei bravi cantanti ,ma come cazzo fate a paragonarli a CARUSO, o addirittura dire che erano migliori, che ha creato lui gli standard dei tenori moderni. )
