  • I demonstrate the features I feel are most important when buying a sprayer for use on a small farm. I have three sprayers that each exhibit certain features that you should consider.

    Great information. I'm picking up a sprayer in the near future and you talked about several things I never thought about.

    Hey Bill, at the 6:10 mark, I don’t have a “recycler” on my sprayer. I hated putting chemical into my tank, and then the water, because it would foam up, and take forever to fill.
    Now, I fill with water, add my chemical, and THEN use a paint mixer wand, in a cordless drill.
    Fast, easy, and no wasted chemicals!

      That is a great solution. Nice job.

    Thanks bill for another interesting episode. I have AA TV 25 gallon sprayer. It does not have the circulating
    Option So I feel with water and then chemical and take my one and stick it down in the water and let it run for a few minutes. That's a really good job of mixing it up. Thanks again keep the good workout appreciated.

      Steve, that will work but I just don't like having chemical on the hose because we use the hose for other stuff too, like filling the dog water bucket, etc. So, I always try to keep the hose out of the chemical, but that is just my system. Have a great day.

    Are the 2 electric pump sprayers self priming? That is my biggest issue with the ones we bought from the local farm store, we go to use them & we have to pull the pickup hose out of the tank & put a garden hose to the end of it to prime the pumps. I have a older PTO pump sprayer but the only thing on it that doesn't need replaced is the tank & 3 point frame.

      Anytime I have an issue with these two I switch it to recycle mode for just a couple seconds and then go back to the booms and it works great.

    be interesting to have covered the "as-is" cost of each setup if you were to sell it today. fair market value so each party happy enough... ballpark figure. ADB! (best part of every vid)

      You can see pricing here for these sprayers new: wildlifefarming.com/Catalog/Category/SPRAYERS--SPREADERS/SPRAYERS/1776 I mentioned that I modified the 65 gallon sprayer to get the boomless unit with the nozzles farther off the ground. Good luck.

    How do you know you’re not over lapping?
    On lawns we put a water base dye, differently helps

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I am never 100% sure. I probably overlap slightly. I try to remember where the spray pattern is hitting on the prior pass and then orient to that on the next pass, but dye would definitely improve the coverage.

    Bill I have a small clover and chicory plot in a wooded opening. If I burn the leave in the late winer/early spring will the clover and chicory come back?

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jordan, you will need to get that done as soon as possible before they start to show any green. I think it would be safer to use a leaf blower and clear it that way. Good luck.

    can you point me in the right direction for your spray nozzles? I looked for them but was unable to find the ones you have. thanks and this was a super informative video! Really helpful that you explained them. I need to get a filter setup like you have on the big sprayer, that's the cats pajamas for keeping the nozzles clear! Thank you! And the height that you set them up for as well as the reason for it. I've been spraying wrong for a long time, not covering the whole plant from above. thanks again! LOL!! make sure you don't run over the dog turd on the trail😂😂😂😂

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, Bentley didn't seem to think much of what I had to say! I don't believe it is the pump that is cutting the flow and not the nozzles themselves. I have used other systems with different pumps and they let the chemical siphon through even when they are turned off. Have a great day.

    I have been trying to reply to @user-pu6hw9hz9p but for some reason TH-cam won't let me. You can burn the leaves off as long as the chicory and clover aren't showing any green, which can happen very early in the spring. A better solution is to use a leaf blower and blow the leaves off the plot, it if isn't too big. Good luck.

    For my atv spray I regret not buying a pull behind with wheels

    • @bill-winke
      @bill-winke  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I see two problems with them from my viewpoint. First, all the ones I have seen have tires that are too small to roll over the rough terrain I sometimes have to cover. The second issue is the height off the ground of the spray unit. I like to have the booms or boomless nozzles in the three foot range or higher to spray over stuff. I guess if you retrofitted larger bicycle tires on the sprayer you could improve both of those issues. For me, when I need more capacity, I just use the 65 gallon model on the small tractor, but that assumes you have a small tractor. Good input.
