They do every so often. This is an extra diversionary route so if the BML was shut between Burgess Hill and Brighton, BML trains could divert via here! This was an ECS making sure a diver knew this route if this happened
Love the toot from the freight train. A lot of hard work has clearly gone into this compilation, you deserve the 150 subscribers, well done, super moments captured 👏🚊
Great catches - wasn’t aware that you got Thameslink trains through there or was it on an ECS/ route learner? Also some nice tones throughout and good depot whistles from the 700.
The 700 trains could be diverted here as it is an extra diversionary route so if the line was shut then these could be diverted. This run was only too keep drivers familiarisation of the route up if this was to happen oneday
And when you do come to Lewes try to be there depending on railtour times for the 11:07 GBRf 66 hauled stone train! It always runs! Plus there may be either a 12:35 or 13:07 movement to Newhaven Marine Aggs! At Lewes you usually see GBRf, less but some DB movements, and sometimes a Freightliner, although on RTT they always show as cancelled!?
@@SouthEastRailwayVideos Ah ok - route learners are always good to catch! I’m not sure how my plans for rail tour day will shape up - I’ll probably try to film at least three ‘trains at’ that day in different locations
I saw that exact Thameslink train yesterday when my train was passing moulscomb when I was heading back from Brighton and I saw the exact same frieght train when I was going up to Brighton
I have confirmation that the train in the intro is a class 66. For Christmas 2022 I got a book called "Modern Locomotives of the UK. It was first arrived in the UK in 1998 so to see it running in 2022 is truly astonishing!
Yep! Well trains can last up to 40 years and this is 25 years old so yeah! These aren't rare to run at all in fact they run about 3/4 of freight trains in the UK! Also the Class 313's which are around 40 years old are still in service until 20th May 2023!
@GTR Railways Trainspotter Yeah, you should get the book, it's called "Modern Locomotives of the Uk". Unfortunately it doesn't have southern service classes, you know the 313, 377, 387, 375, thameslink etc. But look at the 66 class chapter and it should give you all the info about it. And even with it being 2023 now, you'll still be able to see it the next time you go trainspotting there.
This is an extra diversionary route! If the line between Brighton & Burgess Hill was shut, the BML trains could divert via Lewes + Falmer! Although this was not the case today! This was a driver route familiarisation in case this was to happen!
I thought the 700s didn’t go to Lewes area

Really good video. What camera/phone do you use to film? I think the quality is great.
Just an iPhone 6 on 1080p60fps! That's its highest quality!
@@SouthEastRailwayVideos Thanks. I'm going to have to upgrade my camera as mines getting old and not reliable.
I wonder what was a Thameslink 700 would be doing in Lewes?
