I will say all that I know. A while back there was a script made and presented of Dragonriders of Pern to some major movie producers. They looked at the script then made several edits to until the returned work didn't resemble the world Anne created in her books so the first movie attempt died... I'll do a copy and past from wikipedia: In 2002, Warner Brothers Network and writer Ronald D. Moore had completed sets and casting for a pilot episode, and were within a few days of filming. Moore had sent the pilot episode to Warners for final approval. It was returned with so many changes to the basic structure of Pern - making it more like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer - that it no longer much resembled the world created by Anne McCaffrey. As a fan of the Dragonriders of Pern series, Moore refused to continue. Filming was canceled, and rights ownership remained with Zyntopo Teoranta's assign, Kua Media Corporation (Canada). In May 2006, it was announced that rights to the entire Dragonriders of Pern series were optioned by Oscar-winning production company Copperheart Entertainment.[8] Copperheart announced their intention to bring Pern to the big screen. On 12 April 2011, Copperheart announced signing David Hayter as screenwriter and Don Murphy as executive producer for a film version of Dragonflight, with production expected to begin in 2012 I hope we start seeing trailers by 2015 or at least hear how filming is going. I think I will spend this summer rereading most of her books.
As a fan of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders of Pern series since I read "Weyr Search" in "Analog" magazine in 1967, I say you've done a good job. I hope someday there really will be a Dragonriders of Pern movie.
CLAP CLAP CLAP ... CHEER .... Awesome merging to make a "trailer" .. I so wish they would bring out the movies. Anne McCaffrey is the goddess who got me reading sci-fantasy. And every time I read her wonderful books I want more.
Excellent job of editing. I understand that you had to pull images from other films, but you really did a bang-up job of putting it together! I LOVE your music selection. It is both inspiring and moving. GREAT JOB!!! (Let's hope the filmmakers get it right!)
To be appropriate, from the details you used in the video this would only be a trailer for Dragonflight, not the entire series which is what The Dragonriders of Pern is. But it's put together very well. Good job. Yet I highly doubt anyone will ever truly embrace and be able to express and show the vivd detail and emotion that the series had instilled in most of its readers.
Problem is that Anne McCaffrey herself said that she read a fan script that made her cringe. That makes me think that it isn't going to be likely but one can always hope
Just to clarify, the first book, Dragonflight, has been optioned and, according to IMDB, is "in development" (nudge nudge wink wink). However, they are dubbing it "The Dragonriders of Pern", that's why I used that title.
+Mazda rx7 Yes, as everyone noticed, this is a fan made trailer...I am a fan of the Pern series. This is meant as a kind of tribute to Anne McCaffrey and her works. In the description, I name all the movies I used scenes from, giving them full credit for the work. I am sorry you did not find it enjoyable.
Having read most of the books in the series I can say with authority that any screen adaptation that was faithful to any of the original books would HAVE to be unbearably lame and cheesy. It would simply not adapt well to the big screen. While the story arc is solid, it'd have to be rewritten by someone else. The fact is that when it came to the writing, paragraph by paragraph, Anne McCaffrey was good at creating the long story arc but her writing was the very definition of lame and cheesy. Give a good screenwriter the story outline and let it be rewritten...BETTER.

and to add to this, in 1994 Jewel Riders started as the animated retelling of it ;)

Very well done. There is only one person who could depict Pern convincingly as a film and that's Peter Jackson. Spare us Hollywood.
Poignant and moving. I loved the books and this captures their spirit perfectly! I have to watch it again.
This is really well made for a fan-made trailer. I had goosebumps from 0:36 onwards. Nicely done.
Well done. Great piece work.
I loved this, so I hate you since this just makes me want a Dragonriders movie even more and it doesn't seem like we will ever get one.
Very nicely done........
Genious! I want to see visual chronicles of Pern and eys of dragons.
That's pretty good & cut together really well. The music was perfect.

Bravo bravo , it was awesome.... Love the creativity and how it flowed together
thanks for making the music available! I'd been searching for just that sort of thing :)
I'M about to get started on the series but i'm really excited to read them OH MY GOOOOOD!!!!!

Simply because you used clips from Dragonheart and Reign of Fire, I enjoyed this Fan Trailer and give you a Like.

Well... since we never got the animated adaptation, we'll definitely take the live action one ;)
i really hope they make a move i cant wait and this was a really well done fan trailer :)
very well done likes the design of the dragon and it was intriguing to me but lessa is a very small and petite person
gives me Goosebumps
That was wonderful, really well done!
Really need this trailer to be made into a proper movie!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in a book i read it describes a queen dragon as the size of a 747... now the books just got a lot more cinematic lol
Lucy, it's in the works NOW.
Maybe now that "Game of Thrones" is out, and there are dragons in it, someone (HBO) will take a look at the dragonriders of Pern
Hopefully if a Dragonriders of Pern movie is published, they don't screw it up or change it beyond recognition.

Nice
Wow! That is really cool!

wow : )
Oh, please tell me this is finally going to happen!! This better not be some kind of horrible joke.
I just dont understand splicing in all that eragon footage .
Why was McCaffrey so protective of this series? We now have the technology to do the films! It would be way better than all the war movies being made!
meh... she was a fickle woman. *smh
fuckin awesome...
Thanks!
np ;)
What the fuck???....if The Lord Of The Rings can be made into a movie....then so can Dragon Riders Of Pern!!!
This is not a trailer and all the scenes here are taken from other movies (at least four movies)

+Mazda It actually says that in the notes.
