Hey Guy,super happy you did this tutorial. Your run down of the samples and what the library is capable of is inspiring as always!! Always enjoy your videos and how humble you are!!! Thanks for taking the time producing these intuitive and engaging videos!! Look forward to your next videos showing off the full East West Fantasy orchestra!! 😊😊😊 Cheers!!
When I first saw this library, I thought it was part of their Orchestrator series. But, seeing the offerings in this library, as a primarily fantasy composer, I'm very excited to incorporate these instruments into my compositions!
Fun for you and also fun for us watching you get excited about this library. If you don't mind, it is just my cup of tea (lol) writing this kind of music, and it gives me all sorts of ideas and inspiration. I enjoyed this video. Thanks.
Thanks Guy! Cannot wait for the rest of the offerings for the rest of the Fantasy Orchestra. Here are the release dates for the rest of the library: Fantasy Brass May 18, Fantasy Winds June 22nd, Fantasy Percussion July 27, Fantasy Voices August 31, Fantasy Orchestrator October 5.
I’m interested in programming with Python but, I’m also interested in your music videos so… here I am! Hahaha😂 I really like your channel Guy! Great job
I downloaded this library as a member of the composer cloud but haven't played with it yet. You've inspired me to go do that. I wonder how quirky you could make music with this. Thanks for the review, Guy.
@@ThinkSpaceEducation yeah they have a release schedule. Then by learly Fall the are adding a Fantasy Orchestrator, similar to the Hollywood Orchestrator. "Brass (Available May 18th for $99), Winds (Available June 22nd for $99), Percussion (Available July 27th for $99), Voices (Available August 31st for $99), and the Hollywood Fantasy Orchestrator (Available October 5th for $99) scoring engine (partnered with Sonuscore) all coming up "
How do you manage to sort of spit out ideas like that on the fly and have an almost complete piece in a matter of half an hour ? I've always been amazed by that!
@@ThinkSpaceEducation Then how about Samplemodeling Strings? I'm really thinking of buying the full Chamber, Ensemble, and Solo Strings bundle, since the Solo Strings are awesome (beautiful _and_ controllable), and I might as well get everything else while I'm at it. Curious if the demos and other reviews I've seen might not have shown everything. I think it's worth checking out!
Guy thx for the run through. Just curious are all the samples drenched in reverb as it sounds or is it adjustable? I know its trendy for todays composer to do that as it makes the orchestra sound much larger but dynamics and definition are swallowed up. Wish these were around two years ago I composed a remake of The Wicker Man starring Brian Blessed (what a booming man lolol wonderful man) . Some of these samples seem to be from RA but repurposed. Nice library great presentation as always.
Usually with EW samples, the room in the recording is not overbearing, but there are a bunch of really washy reverb profiles you can choose inside the plugin that he was using. I usually just turn 'em off and use more restrained reverbs on sections.
Despite being somewhat of a one-chord "groove" (so-to-speak) at least this captures the flavor of this library. It's easy to go, "Wow, I want that!" (which is what I've done way too much, lol), and forget that all these products are either for fun or tools you may or may not need. I'm going to get this because it's just what I need for a major project I'll be working on for some time. I noticed that someone said that Guy doesn't use EW much. But...as someone who has more libraries than he can remember (orchestral , synths, drums, guitars, all kinds of cool Native Instruments libraries and on and on), I sometimes think that if they. were people, they would feel like orphans for lack of use. I feel blessed to own so many great libraries. It's a great time to be a musician/composer.
which libraries would you recommend? As a beginner I went with EW because of the relatively low subscription fee, but I keep hearing that there are better sounding libraries, e.g. for strings, choir etc.
EWQL is great and I know a lot of people - particularly trailer people who use it as their go to. I tend to use more Spitfire/VSL/Orchestral tools for my orchestral stuff. Id love EWQL to go with ilok Cloud as I am not a big fan of hardware dongles as they are always in teh wrong place!
Hey Guy! Love this videos!! At 21:30 you said you need to rebalance cause it was getting “antsy” what did you mean by that. I am still pretty knew when it comes to gain staging and balancing templates so the info would be a great help!! Thank you!!
Please use headphones with a cable on one side! This one with the center cable scratches your mic on a regular basis and disturbs the audio experience by a lot. JMHO.
In 5 mins it sounds pretty much like an AOE composition. Im not great with composing but excited to try and come up with something for these new fantasy libraries.
I know that Opus is a big improvement over the old Play engine, but even so, just looking at all those nested menus and abbreviated instrument titles makes my head hurt. I hope they improve the interface into something more graphical and intuitive in the future. This library sounds pretty good btw! Not sure if it's enough to coax me back into another subscription model though, especially as the only other libraries I liked were the Hollywood orchestra and their choir! Thanks for your video guy, blessings and good health to you sir!
I'm a gonna have some fun with Hollywood Orchestra Opus and this, mwahahahahahaha. I played with the orchestrator for the first time this evening, and it was totally fun.
This is a funny one for me. I can't stand swords and sorcery and sandals movies and shows. I like the future and technology and space ships and things that go...paazeeeppp and stuff. But I love the sounds in this library. I may have to disappear for a month while I delve into this. Could someone tell the wife to just shove the food through the dog flap please?
Dulcimer sounds so dirty compared to Conan the Destroyer heroic brass. But you can't blame the Dulcimer, it's the fault of the glorified slaughter movies that is modern fantasy movies/series. It's too bad you immediately associate "medieval" with a dirty cobble stone road and gore. I wonder if that is a conscious decision on part of Hollywood, there's no reason they couldn't have made an effort to elevate the music. Paul Romero nail the hammer on the head, nobody as far as I know perfected the fantasy sound to the same extent. Howard shore comes close but as with a lot of movie music it's very drawn out. Like butter scraped over too much bread.
I suppose I'll write my comment in a new video, as I'm sure you do not read many comments written in older content. This will be frank, since I have nearly zero time to waste on social media. However, since I am a professor, I felt a sincere urgency to state a thing or two -especially due to the fact that I am at a “teaching” based channel (I think)? In addition, if this channel is more for entertainment, then please disregard all that follows with a sharp, double-edged, 'disregarding' swipe (your weapon of choice). After all, I do enjoy your videos quite a bit, especially your humor and antics. May I suggest you take a class or two in pedagogy? After watching a dozen videos, or thereabouts, one thing is absolutely clear. You do more at showing the audience what you do, and spend very little effort explaining anything at all. Let us take the splash video on your channels' front page, “How to Write Music for Video Games”, as an example; you know, the one that sits right under the statement, "ThinkSpace is an online film scoring school..."? In this video, a how-to video let us remember, you begin to discuss how to edit clicks along with making a loop sound better. Have you actually seen how you did that bit of 'How-to' demonstration? You literally leave out any detailed information, let alone much explanation at all. Dare I say, you megalithicly (not a word -I'm sure) failed with this one simple task in a How-to video. I literally get more information from young adults, doing similar content, who are really trying to teach the audience something. The sad part, when considering every point in context, is that they are not the CEO of a teaching institute (I hope 'CEO' is correct information). This last point is, of course, my whole reason for spending time writing here. I could go on and on, with multiple examples, with similar instances within the dozen or so videos I've seen that claim something along the lines of 'How-to yada-dada', but I'm sure you already know. So, again, if your main goal is promotion of your school and great entertainment, then disregard. However, if you do care to claim a video has 'How-to' content within, then please, do us all a favor and set aside the entertainment for a moment, and do some real teaching.

Just hearing him fiddle around, he writes catchier melodies than most composers on TH-cam. Downloading the library now.
Great! Enjoy it - I did
“Fiddle” around… I see what you did there 😂😂😂
If only all teachers were like Guy
It always ende up being this way. When you dont care and just mess around you will always comes out with dope stuff than when you force it

To be honest, even I'd be here for a Python Tutorial, I'll be still satisfied because of Guy's amazing energy.

@@spokansas Oh I see. They‘re doing it very cleverly… „stretching“ the release schedule so you have to wait while you pay the monthly bill.. :D
Thank you for sharing this resource
Wonderful ❤❤❤

Definitely evokes a feel from another time.
With an image like that beckoning you in, one would hope for a bewitching time - which, you Guy, certainly provide with your energetic manner!
Thank you Joanie
The timing of this release is perfect for my TSE03 Summative...
Sounds like I will have to splurge for another library soon.
Huzzah! I've wanted a review on this ever since it came out a while ago. Glad it's happened.
Someone asked in the comments so its always worth posting requests

Hmm. I am a music making coder. Glad I already subscribed years ago.
Interesting - what do you code?

So pretty 😍
Great library.
This might be enough to give me hope for EastWest. It’s been a while since they did something fresh that wasn’t kind of gimmicky.
Love your videos! What camera setup & video editing software do you use so you pop up in the corner? :-)
I use Blackmagic Atem Mini Extreme ISO + multiple Sony A6600 cameras and mainly Sigma lenses. The DJI radio mikes are cool too

Sounds with 100 tons of reverb…… Is it possible to adjust it?
Yes Opus has reverb built in to each sound so you can turn it off completely and add your own -probably more CPU efficient that way
Most interesting library I've heard in yrs
Its different
Peteris Vasks Strings please 😀
Ill put it on the list!
Nice :) Where are you based Guy? :)
South cost of the UK near Chichester
