@@ArtPaintingNow ... nice job on the portrait and your palette selection of colors... but I find that the bottom of the vignette competes too much with the rest of the painting and becomes quite distracting. I always want the vignette in the portraits I do to enhance the face and not compete with it for attention.
You put water behind your paper..does this help to keep it in place?

Will keep the painting wet on wet a long time and I think makes it harder to control and you lose the ability to let painting dry between layers. You can just as easily let paper dry and re wet dry paper in sections you need it wet. I guess it's all in style you want. I would not try it with 140 pound or you will be working on wrinkled paper. I think it also has to do with humidity in the air where you live and my experience is in a vary humid tropical area. 60% humidity is very low for us and only in the winter.

Joe surfer You can buy tape that you wet the back of to hold down watercolor paper. Can’t remember the name of it.

Why are you taping your paper to a wet surface?
It keeps the paper from buckling too much. This way, both sides are wet, not just one, so it dries more evenly.
