I can glean two meanings out of this song. 1) The aftermath of the mugging in Bloodflood pt. I 2) The prostitute who was raped in Fitzpleasure getting revenge.
The song is based on a 1964 Hubert Selby Jr.'s novel "Last Exit to Brooklyn", in which a prostitute named Tralala is rather horrifically raped. The forceful nature of the song and the lyrics themselves ( "In your snatch fits pleasure, broom shaped pleasure" ) make it clear, at least to me, that it's about rape.

This is my favourite alt-j song of all time. The production on this especially is just phenomenal - I love the drumming. Assume it is electronic drums?
First half is electronic near the end Thom kicks in with the acoustic set which is what makes this song so cool

My favorite track off the album, and from an incredible album full of fantastic songs, that is saying a lot. Listening to the lyrics and how beautiful, guttural, and violent they are gives me cold chills. Such an incredible song and the perfect counterpart to the first Bloodflood.
This album is at it's best when listened from start to finnish.

I think Daljit Dhaliwal was the first name when they first formed, then changed to Films which they had to change cuz there was an American band called The Films and people were getting the two bands mixed up, and obvs finally Alt j which came from Gwil messing around on his computer keyboard and discovering that alt + j makes the delta sign (which I cannot do on my phone keypad lol)

I can glean two meanings out of this song.
1) The aftermath of the mugging in Bloodflood pt. I
2) The prostitute who was raped in Fitzpleasure getting revenge.

The song is based on a 1964 Hubert Selby Jr.'s novel "Last Exit to Brooklyn", in which a prostitute named Tralala is rather horrifically raped.
The forceful nature of the song and the lyrics themselves ( "In your snatch fits pleasure, broom shaped pleasure" ) make it clear, at least to me, that it's about rape.
