Especially noticeable compared to the way you insist Churchill is bad. Churchill definitely isn't great either but he's still a lot more consistent than she is!
Bottom route benefit to grenadiers instead of rifles is not really grenadiers, it is cannons from steel. If AI would know how to use siege weapons. Jump from that to grenadiers is a small one. Rifles and cavalry is better, you need them to really success though.
That Civ 5 rant really hit home for me, because most 4X veterans could see pretty early what a downgrade it was from Civ 4. Someone could fact check me on this, but I recall the main reason Civ 4 is so much better than its descendants is due to the lead developer being very well-versed in refining the AI. The leaders in 4 have so much personality, you become immersed enough that you sometimes forget they're not being controlled by humans.
Maybe a hot take, but I feel like 4X games peaked with Civ 4, Endless Legend, and Age of Wonders, with each one specializing in certain aspects over the others. Firaxis simply does not have the talent or vision to make decent Civ games anymore, unfortunately.
I agree fully on your civ5 rant, vox populi mod adress the wide issue, does away with the most horrible parts of 1upt (civilians have no stack limits) and the AI is a lot better.

He has done plenty of Civ 4 streams where he plays and enjoys it, you should check them out. Watching him play helped teach me a bit about some of the mechanics that I didn’t understand
Thankfully we didnt get the Sitting Bull cultural victory in the actual match. That would have been so difficult to commentate
Vicky land grab sucks apparently. I wonder if she gets into wonder lalaland in all those games. Se could produce settlers really fast in capital. My read of the map was that Pericles gets boxed and Vicky gets those southern city places Pericles pretty constantly got.
Keep in mind England has crummy starting techs, and we have also repeatedly seen leaders get squeezed by neighbours with the Creative trait or even just those who are culturally-oriented like Gandhi.
