Andrew, ya poor wee thing! Yes we do appreciate the great sacrifice of your climb to the stones, while we sit at home warm and cozy knitting. Well done on the Kep.
I recommend Roxanne Richardson (Rox Rocks) podcast. I’ve followed her for years and I like her so much I have a regular Kofi payment. She is a Master Knitter and does Technique Tuesdays and also Casual Fridays with news tidbits and knitting project progress. Super interesting and educational too! I really enjoyed your tour of Arran, thank you so much!
Hi Andrew One of my favourite knitting podcasters is Roxanne Richardson. An American from Minnesota. She does Technique Tuesdays. I often refer to her episode Holey Molly for fixing holes in knitting. She does Casual Friday that has Tidbits on all kinds of knitting and textile news. Knitting in art, textile exhibitions, knitting found in archeological digs, etc. She did a long term project knitting 10 sweaters from every decade from 1890. Lots of good stuff.
I would like to recomomend YOU, as another podcast to watch. You came up in my feed this morning, and I have to say how much I enjoyed your Podcast .Especially your sharing of "grumble" headed up the incline! Your mix of culture, language, humour, and knitting is a gem.
Very kind, Karen. I'm really enjoying making these episodes, and so love that people enjoy them. Nice to bring something cheerful to the world (even when I'm grumbling up hills!)
Andrew, just found your podcast and enjoyed it very much. As a lazy knitter, it was a special treat to be able to travel along with you through that stunning landscape. And I couldn’t help but notice how your warm. woolly hat seemed to draw its color inspiration from all the beauty around you. Thank you.
Andrew….. Joy indeed….just found you ☺️ Thank you for all your hard work! Amazing Podcast from start to finish. Ash Wednesday ….with ice storm…… Wisconsin 🥶 Oh….. I tun my wood lid upside down….. to hold my stitch markers 👍
Another delightful glimpse into your life on the beautiful island of Arran. Thank you for all the time and energy you put into this podcast . I just came home from a Knitting Cruise with Arne and Carlos and they are just as delightful in person. Have you watched. “The Knitty Stew?” Leanne is a Canadian Flight Attendant who takes us all over Canada with travelogues and knitting shop visits❤️
The podcast is over and I am still smiling from ear to ear...you are such a delight and a very good 'beginner' knitter. Thank you so much for the visit to the standing stones, just wonderful.
Thank you for showing us the historical places. I also like the sheep very much. My favourite podcast to watch is Knitting Turnpike. She is so loving and generous.
I just came here for the first time and it was such a joy to watch your video. Thank you so much! You're really blessed to live in such a beautiful and wild landscape. I'm a German knitter and podcaster living in Tokyo and it was really a big pleasure for me to watch your Scottish knitting podcast here in Japan. I've spent a lot of beautiful holidays in Scotland and your little hike brought back memories. Your colourwork hat is just perfect and I love the tassel a lot.
You live in a beautiful part of our planet. Thank you for sharing it with us. Like you, I love Martyn's enthusiasm for his crafts. You both are talented good people. I appreciate your kindness very much.
Hi, Andrew. I'm 65, widower, found crochet and it's good for humanity. In this video.when you gave your woolen hat praise for keeping you warm, that's what I mean. Now, I am starting to learn how to knit, I was scrolling my you tube, I saw your channel, as a man me too. I had to check you and your content out, this episode convinced me to subscribe. I'm a Christian, I believe in God, I read KING JAMES BIBLE. And I'm sure by listening and watching that I can learn alot.well- sla'n abhaile. GOD BLESS see you on the tube 😀 🙏.
Hi, It's great to read of a man who enjoys knitting and crochet. They should be prescribed on the NHS, so therapeutic and good for the soul, it would save a lot of money in medication bills but maybe not so much in bills for yarn stashes! I've knitted and crocheted since I was a small child, in fact I can't remember learning, however you might be surprised to know to know that at one time (in England at least) women were not allowed to knit. We were allowed to spin the yarn (how generous of them), knitting was the purview of men and they were apprenticed to masters, became journeymen and if their work proved acceptable they were then allowed to join the Guild, admitting women to a Guild? well heaven forfend. How times have changed. Now it's mostly women who knit. Can you imagine the hissy fits taking place if they could see us now? 🤣 God bless and enjoy you craft.
Hi,Becca. Thank you for your comment, thanks 😊 for the knitting history, I did not know that. 😀, yes knitting is therapeutic, however for me at this stage, tearing out my mistakes and learning when to knit and when to purl has me on edge sometimes. But perseverance just happens to be one of my best qualities lol. I haven't bent or broken one needle out of frustration lol. So glad you commented, that was lovely of you. Please feel free to talk with me anytime. God bless. P.s. I would love to see your work.
Thanks for the field trip, I'm home caring for my 97 yo mother and appreciate the interesting extras. You popped up in my recommendations today- maybe because I watched an archeologist from Aberdeen earlier, talking about Picts! One of my favorites is Norman at Nimble Needles, he does technique videos. Knitting the Stash is good, she does a lot of modification of patterns. But my favorite is Fruity Knitting as well.
Thank you, so very much Andrew, for showing us Machrie Moor and the surrounding areas. From someone halfway 'round the world your hiking sacrifice is greatly appreciated. From your fan, Stephanie J, still somewhere in the middle of a forest outside Olympia, WA, USA.
Hi Andrew, Good to see you well. Thank you so much for taking us to see the standing stones, it was wonderful and I will be watching that part again. I can only speak for myself, but I don't expect to see finished knitting projects all the time, I really just enjoy a good visit. I love the new hat, the colors are so good. You do beautiful work. I agree with you regarding the yarn. Thank you also for the podcast recommendations. I enjoy, A Lovely Yarn, Little Big Knits and A Meaningful Stitch. Take care, see you next time.
Hello there, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this beautiful knitting session. The trip out was amazing, thank you 💞. Happy days, I wish that I could knit, so beautifully. I'm very envious. God bless you and keep you 💞
I'm writing on my hub's profile. Andrew, you're such a treat to watch! I thoroughly enjoy all your shenanigans and the tourist touch as well as the beautiful hymns. I also watch Fruity Knitting, and Crazy for Ewe, amongst others. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. I think we must send you some merino yarn from South Africa 🇿🇦. May our Heavenly Father continue to bless the works of your hands most abundantly. How wonderful that you're using all your talents and sharing it with us. Baie groete van Suid-Afrika 🇿🇦😉
In love forever!..Amazing nature, mystical land,...so much space,.and clean air!!,...the impression of a fairy tale!!,....Wonderful knitting , further success!!!! Nemiroff,..Ukraine...
Thank you for “suffering” through that lovely, lovely walk on the Moor and to the standing stones! I would dearly love to visit Scotland one day. Your love for your home and all of God’s creation shines through your videos. ❤️. Thanks again, from Texas, USA.
What a fascinating video. Contains some of my favourite things: beautiful natural scenery, sheep, knitting, ancient history, and that amazing lilting accent 🤎💚. One day I hope to travel across the world to the lands of my ancestors' birth. In the meantime, I will make the most of now, and revel in the land of my birth, beautiful Aotearoa New Zealand, land of birds, sheep, and stunning scenery.
Andrew… Thank you for taking us on your hike and showing us your beautiful country. I love how the “girls” shared the path with you! I enjoyed your podcast and seeing your knitting projects! They are beautiful!
I just love it when you take us on “field trips” around your beautiful island. And I’m really enjoying the language lessons. How fun to learn a wee bit of Gaelic!
O! MO Chreach!!!!, there are so many podcasters I enjoy which include you now... Needles at the Ready, Cabin boy Knits, Les garcon, Amy Palko ( Edinburgh), Grocery Girls, Fleece and Harmony....so many more 🥰Sharon.
Thank you for sharing your world. I enjoy your podcast so much. I recently had a knee replacement and you among others kept me company during a long recovery. Bleß you in all you do
Andrew you just crack me up. I love your trips and projects you are working on. You bring a smile to my face. So my other podcasts that I watch are the happy knitting podcast, a wooden nest, the crafty toads, fiber tales podcast, and knitting the stash. I just found Danish musings. All of these folks are so talented. Keep up the good work and your stand up comedy!😄🤪
What a wonderful hat. I truly think it is one worth wearing with great pride. Your daughter is also a very lucky young lady to have her dad knit her such a beautiful gift. 🏡🇦🇺🙂
Oh I am so grateful for your huge gift of hiking the beautiful country just for us! How can I go on with my humble work on my farm, with knitting and gardening and all, knowing that you are out there braving the wildlands for our benefit!! My family is of the Montrose Clan, my great great great relative was the Earl of Montrose. I hope one day to visit the sacred old country and hopefully meet up with you! Thank you so much for this fabulous video!
Also I look very forward to your podcast Andrew! Listening to you and your accent reminds me of my grandparents and they are gone. It's a comfort to listen to you , your accent is very similar to theirs . Also love the tours. Raise a glass! Sláinte Mhath!. To you and yours
So much lovely content! Not only a relaxing time for my knitting but a history lesson and a view of the beautiful Arran countryside. And a good laugh! Sannox looks a delightful retreat (I look forward to more dates becoming available) I hope the places are filled quickly and that you are encouraged in your work Andrew. God bless.
This podcast showed up in my feed--what a gem! Thank you for such a lovely episode. One podcast I'd like to recommend is the Knitty Stew--she's a Canadian stewardess who takes us around her travels throughout Canada.
A very fascinating knitter is Stephen West from westknits. He loves colours, has knew sock paterrns with extraordinary stitches, fantastic patterns for shawls and jumpers. Have a nice day, Andrew and thank you for this lovely Blog!!
I hope your knitting retreats take off. A knitting retreat at what looks like a wonderful centre in a beautiful location. That could be my first destination when I retire in a few years.
Hi there - I stubled upon your pod and what a joy! Lovely knitting - very inspiring 🌞 and thank you for your "suffering". I did enjoy the trip! Greetings from Tønsberg, Norway 👋
I've just found you Andrew, and what a happy day that makes it! I love your hat, I'm very jealous of your tassel! And so good to see your beautiful and historic countryside. Thank you for leaving your cosy knitting chair for us, I'm so grateful! 👍😅🙋😊
This American appreciated the climb up the wee hill for a gander at the stones. I just found your channel and as a fellow knitter I also appreciate your work. Scenery and knitting, stunning!
Hi, Andrew, thank you for sharing and the lovely trip with nice views. Love your hat, fitting colours of the nature around. I’m following Arne and Carlos for a long time and I enjoy KUTOVAKIKA, a Finnish knitter lady from Helsinki. I like the. scandi style and have knitted quite a lot of Norwegians and Icelandic patterns, but I like simple patterns, too. I knit in European style, which allows me to have two different colours crossed on the left index finger, very easy… would be good for your planned cowl. But I know: we continue knitting in the style we first learned. Fingers crossed that you can finish the sweater for your daughter…the raglan form is so comfy. Greetings from Germany, Monika👵🏻🧶❣
The Gentle Knitter podcast is wonderful. Check her archives. She has dozens and dozens of fantastic videos. She’s slowed down recently in producing videos. I think she’s setting us all a good example of balancing life and work and crafting.
First time seeing your podcast! What fun!!! Loved the island tour. My sister and I visited the mainland of Scotland years ago and fell in love with it! So thank you for sharing some scenery we missed. Great knitting and I will watch again!
I’m so glad I found you. I loved this video - from your knitting (which I have just taken up) to your walk and history lesson! I was in Scotland 50 years ago - fell in love with it - & always hoped I would get back there. Never mind, I am happy to view it through your eyes. I love your hats! I haven’t ventured into multicoloured knitting as yet but hope to this year. Your sense of humour will have me coming back for more! PS: I also love sheep!
Thanks for another entertaining episode and for taking us along on the hike. Fantastic scenery and we do appreciate the old stones 😅. I would like to recommend The Bluebird Box with Anna Daku. She’s a Canadian independent knitting designer who shares about her knitting design, the thoughts and inspiration behind it, but also shows some of the life on the farm with their sheep and other animals.
Gee thanks, Andrew. Now I must watch "Outlander" from the beginning. Again. Lol. Love that series. Thank you for the field trip. Rest now and knit on, sir.
What a delight it is to watch your videos! I am so pleased that I stumbled across your channel. I love your jovial personality, all of your content and especially enjoy the Scottish landscapes and history that you provide! Thanks for your contribution to my knitting journey, all the way in Southwestern Ontario, Canada! 😊
So thankful this showed up on my timeline! New subcriber! I found your funny charming commentary perfect as I enjoy sights and sounds of your video, while crocheting spring dishcloths, relaxing on my couch seeing the cairn site, and the beautiful scenery of your coutnryside! Thank you for your walk up that hill! 😂🤣…. Lovely video!
Loved the walk and your moaning! 😂 The effort you give to make your podcast is very much appreciated. I enjoy watching “The Island Lamb”. This podcaster lives on Block Island in the states. Thank you for my evening entertainment. 🐑
Hi Andrew your keps look great. I love your island, it's beautiful and I love it when you show us around. Good on you for walking up to the stones to share with us.
Hey Andrew, loving your podcast and getting a glimpse into your knitting and your life. I am in Canada but Scotland has been a home to me too. So the wee trips you take us along bring back many amazing memories. I hadn't watched this episode before yesterday's live session where I asked you about your colourwork knitting tips (and you caught me out too, ooops!). Your tips there were great but I think the best one is in this video, which is O! Mo Chreach!!, which I know now 😆 and it will be used. Cheers and see you on the next episode!
I love your videos Andrew, keep up the good work. Hello from Elkton , MD. I was born in Belgium, raised in Canada and lived in Maryland USA for the last 23 years. I just retired and have taken up knitting again. Did a lot of knitting in my youth , unspun wool Cowachin sweaters, fair aisle sweaters...etc Your channel is a delight, your projects are interesting and tours of your beautiful island are so enjoyable. The hat is beautiful, I love the colors, hat style and the tassel😊... Keep those videos coming 👍🧶
Hello Andrew, I am a first-time viewer and I plan to start at the beginning of your video journey. I thoroughly enjoyed this video and learning to say O! Mo Chreach! One of my best friends in grammar school had parents from Scotland. I was fascinated by the way they spoke and I could mimic their speech fairly well... lol. I would like to add a fellow Scot for you to view, her name is Rebecca, and she's on youtube as 'Creabea Knitting Podcast'. I also enjoy Arne & Carlos. Sometimes I laugh so much that I need to rewind to hear what they're saying. And I agree Arne's instructional videos are difficult to understand and that's part of the charm. Carlos is a fellow Virgo and I commiserate with him often! I also like Inga from Knitting Traditions and her beautiful, prolific work. Thanks for this scenic video and history lesson. I love geological sites, as my paternal grandfather is from Matera, Italy. I'll be watching more and more! 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶
Love your knit chat, and how lovely you took us to the standing stones, thank you for all you share with us. Maybe someday pse, would you show us how you block the kelpies x thank you so much again.
Just found you on here. Had to say how much I loved your trip to the stones as I did this walk in October 2023 with hubbys family what a lovely place. Your so lucky to live on such a beautiful island will definitely be watching and following you more
Hello Andrew, I really enjoy your Vlog….you’re so inspiring. Also, thank you for sharing other knitting vlogs you’ve enjoyed. Extremely kind. Looking forward to your next video! Cheers!
Another great episode that kept me company while I was knitting a beanie fir a granddaughter. Thank you for making all the effort with showing us the standing stones - very inspiring and beautiful. About knitting podcasts - in English - check out Finnish knitting stories, with Jana. And an other favorite of mine is Not quite enough yarn, with Leslie. Wishing you a peaceful and pleasant weekend - Allt gott! 🇸🇪
I just love the Scottish countryside! Thank you for sharing! I think I must have some Scottish roots somewhere, I just love everything about Scotland, its history, traditions, and people! Love your podcast!
Squee! I've just finished watching this episode & I'm fair giddy, Andrew, grinning from ear to ear at your humor, tearing up at the beauty of the landscape on the Isle of Arran. Thank you for taking us to the standing stones on the moor! Do you always speak to the sheep when you meet them on the track? What breed of sheep are these in this episode? Your FI Fisherman's kep looks really good.
I have to confess that I speak to all the animals: sheep, red squirrels, birds, otters, seals... and sometimes people ;) I'm not great on sheep breeds, but I think these are a fairly common Romney? I may be wrong!
Nope, not Romney, of which we have many in NZ. Look more like one of the Leicesters, with the snooty nose of a solicitor, lol. Love the standing stones, and the barrow, many thanks for taking us with you
Thank you for taking us for a wee walk with you (maybe no so wee 😉) and sharing your knitting with us. I loved the music and found my toes tapping along.
Some of the best knitting podcasts, imo, are The Green Bean podcast, the Marina Skua podcast, and the Knitting the Stash podcast. All high quality, great content, and fascinating people!
Thank you! I really appreciate you leaving the couch for a bit to take us on that journey to the stones! I understand the sacrifice, and it is much appreciated. You had me laughing and smiling through this whole episode. Please never feel any pressure to have finished objects. We just like to see your knitting! And it made me laugh to hear you say that you are still learning, though you knit that beautifully intricate colorwork hat! L O L and the sweater is coming along. Lovely😊
PLEASE NOTE!
I will never contact you asking you to Telegram me because you've 'won a prize' ... I don't even know what Telegram is lol
Watch out for the scammers!!
Telegram is a messanger, very convenient, like what's up
Andrew, ya poor wee thing! Yes we do appreciate the great sacrifice of your climb to the stones, while we sit at home warm and cozy knitting. Well done on the Kep.
On the bright side, your knitting did it's job in keeping you lovely and warm :)
You had me at “Chief Knitter” 😂Thank you for a lovely tour of your island’s magical monoliths. New subscriber. 💜
I recommend Roxanne Richardson (Rox Rocks) podcast. I’ve followed her for years and I like her so much I have a regular Kofi payment. Hi Andrew,
Good to see you well. Thank you so much for taking us to see the standing stones, it was wonderful and I will be watching that part again.

Really appreciated the view! And the history & music and the knitting! Nice! My first view!🇺🇸

Lol. I love Outlander. Thanks for that and for showing us more of your beautiful island.
Bit of a fan myself lol
Thank you so much for this wonderful podcast! Great 🙏🏻🍀🧶 greetings from Germany 😊
Andrew! Thank you for taking us on such wonderful knitting adventures. It is a joy to spend knitting time with you!!! You brighten my day.
Thanks for the wee Gaelic lesson at the end Andrew. I will be adding it to my vocab 😂. Greetings from New Zealand. 👋🏻
Hello, Mr Andrew, nice to meet You...I am from Lithuania Vilnius, Your's hat is brillant!
What a lovely trip to the standing stones. One day I will get to Scotland and I'll Arron to the trip.
:). Thanks for tuning in. My youngest daughter is now uttering 'O! Mo chreach!' round the house every day lol
Your hat matches and blends perfectly with your environment. WELL DONE!!
I love your videos Andrew, keep up the good work.
Hello from Elkton , MD. I was born in Belgium, raised in Canada and lived in Maryland USA for the last 23 years. I just retired and have taken up knitting again. Did a lot of knitting in my youth , unspun wool Cowachin sweaters, fair aisle sweaters...etc
Your channel is a delight, your projects are interesting and tours of your beautiful island are so enjoyable.
The hat is beautiful, I love the colors, hat style and the tassel😊...
Keep those videos coming 👍🧶
Great to meet you! I love Belgium...I nearly ended up working there at one point, but it didn't materialise! Everyone needs a 'tassel of glory!'
Touching the standing stones, for us knitters, would tumble us back to our comfy knitting spot 😉
If only!
@@albanachknitter It would of been a fast way to get home. I can just imagine the grumbling that was happening on the way back down that hill ;)
That fishermans cap is breath taking beautiful. I so wish I could do that.
Thank you for your vlog and trip :) It was so nice to watch all the sheeps and beautiful views on Island :)
Beautiful knitting, countryside and music, and a presenter with a great sense of humour. Love seeing your beautiful projects.
Your so lucky to live on such a beautiful island will definitely be watching and following you more
Welcome!
Totally enjoyed your commentary on the walk to the standing stones.
Great episode! Beautiful scenery. And thank you for touching those standing stones. You know we all wanted to!🤭
Some folks say I live in the 18th century anyway.
That yarn Bowl is beautiful
and the colour work on your cap is lovely
You are blessed living in that glorious land. Though like you I’d rather be knitting. So appreciate you doing this💜🙏🏻
Hello Andrew,
I really enjoy your Vlog….you’re so inspiring. Also, thank you for sharing other knitting vlogs you’ve enjoyed. Extremely kind. Looking forward to your next video! Cheers!
Episode 6 comes out on Thursday this week! Thanks for watching!
Hello from Stockholm Sweden 🇸🇪 I so enjoyed this. Thanks alot 🙏🏻💐
I wach 365 knitting man .I just knitting vintage cotton yarn dishcloths for cafe near me. South Yorkshire
Standing Stones and Knitting… can’t get better than that in my opinion 🥃🥃🏴🙏🏼
Pleased to meet you Andrew! I am so happy to have found your podcast! I thouroughly enjoy it!
Very happy to listen to you am knitting and enjoying your videos amazing awesome ❤️❤️😍👌
Such a brilliant channel! So much to offer the viewer. Thank you Sir. I’m please keep it up
I just love the Scottish countryside!
@@albanachknitter I was delighted to read that you talk to all the animals that you come across - me too!
@@chrisberry9017 be rude not to
Nope, not Romney, of which we have many in NZ.
Lovely😊
Oh my knitting has LOADS of room for improvement!
Thank you for making the effort to walk up the hill. It was well worth it. 🇨🇦
Knitting on a Scottish Moor! You have stirred my soul sir! I hope you go back in the summer and give us a look. Greetings from the U.S.
Too many tourists in the summer lol
Fraoch Knits is another great podcast out of Ireland!
yes, I listen to her too.
That fisherman's capis gorgeous! Great work!
