And the eternal city still stands. The city that conquered the world.
But perhaps most honestly and in truth, "Rome's" legacy endures.
I think there's more to it. Whilst the City still stands today, maybe not the capital of the world anymore but still important, it's the legacy that matters. All of Europe, and thus the New World, has its roots in Rome. Even when its empire fell and the city lay in ruins near forgotten, Europe still spoke Latin, they followed Roman laws, and still the dream of the empire that united Europe lived through all ages in the new people. The Holy Roman Empire, Napoleon, and even Hitler to a degree, all craved that dream of Rome. And this continued even until today.
The City still stands, and its legacy still lives and will live as long as our current civilisations stand.

you cannot, I think. Some people have been arrested lately for having a drone on the colosseum

Paris is the most beautiful city in Europe. Stop arguing.
Rome is more more beautiful and majestic then Paris, other level.
Paris is SO Grey! - and no way as sensual as Rome, with it's terracotta tiled roofs, it's ocher and salmon red colors. The Tiber flows through Rome like a silver serpent...Paris is pretentious and over-priced, overdone, and "Frankly" - underwhelming! The Parisian Fine arts crested by the 1920's, and there is so much racial division now! - You can keep your Paris. I'll take Rome, or even Lisbon any day!
