This was in INDIA known as Estate Duty,which was abolished in 1985,but why it was abolished CONGRESS MUST ANSWER IT.
The reason is apparently simple. Indira Gandhi died in 1984 and Rajiv Gandhi wanted to inherit her property but avoid estate duty. So he abolished it for his own benefit. 😂😂

Becasue our constitution which is written in 1950 gives absolute power to inact Laws in PArlaiament which 140 crores people should follow .. congress if come to power will intact law -- They can do that .. Whether it will stand the crutiny of constittion or not is different issue -- Assm Government had passed IMDT act in 1983 of so which was quashed by SC in December 2014 as unconstituional .. Why are we fighting shy to bell the cat. The Congress govt in Karnataka has already made it very clear as to how it intends to appropriate the wealth of private citizens, and ostensibly redistribute it among certain sections of society.
Any simple enquiry, not necessarily a detailed survey, will uncover the fact that thise who generate wealth (within the legal framework) are mostly Sanatanis, Jains, Sikhs, Parsis and the like. If someone earns more than 5 crore, as per present income tax slabs he will end up paying 39% tax on income exceeding 10 lacs (old regime) or 15 lacs ( new regime). Practically he ends up paying about 39% tax on his total income. So his income post tax is about 61%. On his death, if 55% inheritance tax is collected by the government, his net remaining balance will be 27.45% of his original earnings. So during his life if he has earned say Rs.100/-, he will leave about Rs.28/- for his legal heirs.

Inheritance Tax is a very good Idea if and only if you apply it only for the top 20 percent of the wealthiest people. I mean there should be a cutoff mark on the accumulated wealth to qualify for the inheritance tax. It should cover the top 20 percent of the wealthiest people. So that the wealth can be redistrubuted in the society.
It should be made a legal requirement for any political alliance contesting an election to have a Common Minimum Programme and a Leader of the Alliance who may form the Govt. in the Centre or the State in case of that Alliance's victory!

Unfortunately in taxation matters we are given examples of U.S.A. a highly develope country with per capita income and per person productivity is several time higher.

What Sam Pitroda has not understood is that most people in America at least 90% live on mortgaged properties all their lives, so that after their deaths their children inherit these mortgaged properties of their late parents and hence go on to pay Inheritance Tax to the Govt. In India this is not the case as 90% properties are self owned by people. Hence it is unjust for their children to pay Inheritance Tax when they inherit their late parents properties.! 🤔
