C-SPAN Cities Tour- Chattanooga: History of the TVA

  • Learn about the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). During the 1930s, the Tennessee Valley and the people that called it home were suffering. Much of the land had been farmed too hard for too long, eroding and depleting the soil. The Tennessee Valley Authority built dams to harness the region's rivers, at once controlling floods and generating electricity for the region. Daryl Black, Director of the Chattanooga History Center, will tell us about the TVA and how it transformed the region and improved the lives of the people living there.

    I had a strange dream about the Tennessee Valley Authority and there were lots of Americans there.. going to a beach.. very strange and everyone was extremely overweight but they were kind people.WOW. I wonder what is going on.

    This guy talks as if no one was mad about what the TVA did. Hundreds lost thousands of acres of farm land.

      Unfortunately those people were relocated from their land before it was flooded.

      @@RepublicConstitution Fuck your freedom. The government have a right to seize private properties (after just compensation), to build projects for the public's benefit. TVA helped people around the valley not getting flooded and produced electricity for the whole state.
