Tula is such a sport!
My dogs would love it up until maybe minute 7 or so. 😂
Yes she is lol so is Murray ❤️
Emmmm I’m craving a burger
poor Tula.
Look at Tula really paying attention. The love in Tula's eyes for you is so endearing. Every evening before I brush my dogs teeth I do this full body exam. But never thought to check his heartbeat. LOL poor Tula, such an awesome sport while being turned upside down. Thank you Dr. A.J and lil Tula.
She's adorable.
He was holding treats in one of his hands:)
So important. I did a canine first aid course for my two, a couple of months after I did it, and just two weeks after I started carrying a first aid kit with me on local walks, one of my dogs stood on something sharp and severed two arteries and a tendon. It was horrific. I honestly think if I didn't have the first aid kit on me I would have lost her. Managed to slow it down enough I could get her into the vets on time. I won't take them out without a full first aid kit now, this all happened about 1000m from home.
Thanks for sharing. What a nightmare. I applaud you for being so organized and having the presence of mind to handle the situation. God bless you and your dogs.🦮🐈🦜🦜
Sounds like you had some Divine Timing contributing. I don't think it's a random coincidence you decided to take that course, etc. and then to have the life saving need to use it shortly after ❤.
Tight bandage? Seems straight forward. Choking is surely more an issue
@@schnarf5 Either of those two can cause you to lose your dog before you can get them to a vet. It actually took 3 bandages to slow the bleeding down, and its knowing what type of bandage and where to place them. You never want to be in that situation.
Tula is the best fur baby ever!!! Hanging her upside down and she didnt even whine.❤❤❤❤
Please give Tula some extra treats after all that. She's such a good girl.
I love Tula. She is such a good sport with participating in all your demonstrations.
I am so glad I found your channel. I'm a helicopter dog mom. I literally owe my life to my furry kids. I want them to have full, happy dog lives for as long as I get to have them around. One thing I don't see discussed very much is their mental health. People don't really think about them as being capable of having psychological issues. In rescue, I've personally witnessed and worked with a lot of dogs, including my own, who needed a little extra work to get through some things. I'm hoping to bring more awareness of it in hopes that people will learn to love them through whatever issues they might need help with. It's always worth it. Seeing them happy and carefree, just enjoying life, has brought joy back into mine. I never really knew what love was until they came into my life. We can learn so much from these amazing animals. Thank you again for all you do for them.
Tula amazes me. She is SO accommodating ! I had never seen you hold her upside down but Tula handled it like a trooper. She's very fortunate to live w/you . Thank you for educating us about some basic first aid skills. Those of us who haven't been thru veterinarian school have a disadvantage. That's why so many of us are very grateful to you for sharing your knowledge.
She was like a little professional model. You go Tula! 🌺
Thank you for the lesson. It was really helpful.
Poor Tula. What a great helper.
You never fail to amaze me Dr. Jones. I hope you know how important your work is to all of us. Pure love!!
Saved our dogs' lives knowing these procedures!! Thanks doc!
Thank you. Time is of the essence in an emergency. After seeing a cat die in a grooming shop that two groomers were working on, I pray never to be in that situation. Just completed canine/feline first aid and cpr.
That dog is such a good patient!

Thank you! This is sir important to know! I’m saving it!
Hats off to Tula for being such a great patient today!
An Ukrainian emergency battle wound care video recommends using tampons to block severely bleeding wounds (such as lacerated arteries) as a way to help stave off a wound bleeding out before it can get proper emergency care. In the case of the example here with Tula, if possible, the tampon(s) would be the first layer before the gauze. For anyone who doesn't know, tampons expand many times their width when they come into contact with blood (or any liquid). They are also sterile in their packaging.
Yeah tampons! Practical, easy-to access approach. Thanks so much.
Priceless information!!! Love knowing these things and how to react to the situation. Thank you so much Dr. Jones and love and blessings.
Great to know thanks! Tula is such a great sport for the demos 😂.
Love your channel doc!
Twice,I ran out to drag a large dog on to the sidewalk that had been hit by a car and not moving, worked in a Dr. Office and gave 1/8 of a cc of benadryl both times within a minute or two, dogs sprang awake 😅 found good homes.. love your channel..
I've had 2 beloved elderly pit mix dogs pass away over the last year.. neither was well enough for surgery and I was afraid to even put them through the stress of traveling.. when I took one of them to the vet her experience was not helpful as she couldn't walk after that.. her x-rays showed a terribly congested heart. Her gums were basically white.. the symptoms at home were shorter breaths, more panting and when I felt around the heart, the beat seemed irregular and sort of wheezing or fluid feel with each breath. I knew when she was this far along that it was likely better to keep her home from that point on. The medicine prescribed did not seem to help. My other elderly developed the same exact symptoms several months later I kept her comfy and gave her your suggestion of hawthorne berry leaves and omega 3s, red meat snacks, warm dry (indoor environment) she passed at home with her family near, lived to be 16❤ grateful for your videos❤
@ My Cancer Journey panacure for humans.. If something happens to me, heck Id try it before chemo..
My heart goes out to you as I've seen my share and had a few close calls.. if you're into holistic, please research Dr Hulda Clark and her frequency generator combined with herbal tea & capsule protocol.. you may find it all makes sense like I did I hope you try!
Great Information! Thank you ❤ I once had to do CPR on a friends dog, unfortunately it was too late😢
So sorry for your painful loss. 😢

Thank you Dr. Jones for your invaluable information! I shared your lifesaving video on FaceBook.
I love Tula. She is sure a wonderful fur baby. Great video. Thank you so much. ❤😊
interesting is that most emergencies happen on the weekend when only the emergency vets are in. I tend to uptriage and assume the worst. One night my cat's stomach bloated while he was relaxing with me and his girlfriend outside. this happened after he was coughing, so i slapped him bet shoulder blades prior to the distention. then i got him in the carrier and hopped on my bike. by the time i got there, it went down and vitals were normal. i denied xrays but had a big bill for peace of mind. sometimes that is worth it!
My puppy ate 5 grapes. I panic and gave him 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide, waited 10 mins, he didn't throw up, so I gave him beef stew with lots of potato carrots and Saltine crackers had him lay down with me for 45 mins the took him outside he did business this was a 11:00pm he sleep with me all night I watched him sleep the next 2 days I monitor him That was 30 pounds ago now. He is 79 pounds, and doing just fine grapes are no longer allowed in my house. Thank you for all the information you are giving me.
Dr Jones Tula deserves a big bone or new toy. What a champ and she doesn’t give even a whimper of complaint. Great video, thanks.🦮🐈🦜🦜
Thank you for this, will be getting one together for my fur baby.

I'd love to hear more about cat asthma - care, diet etc . My cat is on Flixotide twice a day. In my country, a bottle of this medicine cost around USD75 . Once when I went to Turkey , it only cost USD 6. I bought 8 bottles of Flixotide at one go. Thanks !
This was an amazing video thank you so much!! Also Tula is hilarious 😂💕

excellent advice Doc.
I felt this video was very informative because you never really think anything is going to happen to your dog.
Have you done a video on CPR yet that I may have missed being a new sub please?
I have watched videos which say 30 chest compressions to 2 nasal breaths but I would prefer to watch your professional take on it please.
Thank you
Thanks Doc!!
Thank you.
Thank you , always good useful info.
Your poor dog! She puts up with a lot in these videos, I hope she gets lots of healthy treats!
Beautiful dog.
Thanks! ❤️
I swear Dr. Jones makes me just lol sometimes.
Love him! Totally know what you mean, though. 😊
Dr. Jones, what about the technique you once showed to push a lodged item out of the throat by applying pressure in an upward motion by using a long, stiff item (like a hard wooden dowel, the back of a blunt knife, etc.? I wish you could have included that in this video. I never saw anyone do that before. This method could be extremely helpful to gently push it out entirely or loosen it with the long stick from the outside of the neck. It can be used in conjunction with the Heimlich Maneuver or popped out entirely with the stick so you can feel the object from the outside of the throat. Maybe you can find that video demo and add a link in the description and comments? I think that’s a unique method that can potentially save a life.
I wish I had known that specific method when my service e dog once was choking on a piece of dental chew he decided to swallow whole. I might have been able to pop it out faster from the outside of his neck rather than struggling to get it out for 1.5 minutes. It was lodged too deep to grab with my finger. I couldn’t even feel it. Luckily, he eventually was able to cough it up while I was pounding on the front and sides of his chest and trying to do the heimlich (I’m disabled and he a large Lab). I saw that video you made about a year after that scary incident happened.
Please share the link to that video with everyone!
Hey doc, what about using a hose and making a vent for the gas in either end. I've known farmers to use this technique on sheep and cattle with bloat. I was thinking aquarium hoses for a small dog, garden hose for large, or whatever u have when shtf. Anyways, it's just a thought, have a nice day.
