- This is another one of my earliest episodes from a couple years ago, new and improved!
A chronological compilation of Siskel & Ebert (and others later) reviewing the films of Tim Burton
From Pee Wee's Big Adventure to Sweeney Todd (minus Planet of the Apes and Corpse Bride)
Nightmare Before Christmas is included because, while he didn't direct it, it absolutely was his project
Primarily for educational purposes, but enjoy however you see fit!

Love Siskel's enthusiasm in his Ed Wood review. When the two of them were really stoked about a movie (Raging Bull and Fargo being notable examples) their passion was absolutely infectious.
I forget how incredible Devito was in Batman Returns. Hes absolutely menacing
Thank you for sharing these and putting them together
Thx vanilla sky et. These are amazing. They review so many movies it's so stimulating.
Dude...tons of new vids this week...you continue to ROCK.
Love these comps!
When people criticize them for hitting "popcorn movies" as much as they did - one has to remember that these guys started doing this in the late 60's and then the 70's - a time of unprecedented seriousness and brilliant writing - most of it for adults. In the mid-80's, they started seeing the shift Hollywood was making, from films for adults, to being dominated by movies "for kids" (unless you were there at the time, it's hard to truly describe how WEIRD it was that there was a big-budget "Batman" movie being made) - so while films like this and many they reviewed are now seen as classics of GENRE filmmaking - the whole idea of "genre" filmmaking was still something that was relegated to the "B" category for them. There was also a LOT less tolerance at the time for violence and gore in films, which lent a lot of their reviews a moralistic tone. Ebert was sometimes a bit more forgiving than Siskel with that kind of thing, but he got about just as many wrong as Siskel did. Some of their "thumbs down" reviews are just baffling, seen today.
While not a huge Tim Burton fan, I loved Big Fish. Finney's character wasn't so much a "blow hard" as a compulsive story-teller. The structure of the film was such that even Tim Burton couldn't screw it up and the characters had a great deal of charm. On the Batman movies, I couldn't agree more with Roger Ebert.
“Ed Wood” was great
The first Batman film is far more interesting if you see Gotham City itself as a villain instead of The Joker.
It's very interesting however you see it, great movie
I love this channel. Thank you for your work!

I'm dying with laughter watching this one! Ebert calls Beetlejuice a Ghostbusters clone?!?! WHAT
i know right.
Probably just because it was a comedy with weird stop motion monsters in it. Still a lame take.
Richard Roeper As AO Scott And Roger Ebert As Michael Phillips Reviews Tim Burton’s Chocolat With Mark Steines And Gene Siskel He Says Rent It He Says Skip It On 11/18/99!

Awesome 😎
I don't think Burton directed nightmare before Christmas.
That is accurate but it was produced and conceived by Burton and is known as being one of his films.
De Palma?
It's coming!
Say hello to my leetle friend: Brian De-Palma
Imagine calling Bettlejuice a goddamn Ghostbusters clone.
1999 Roger was already k.i.a in the game of life. Now you can see it taking Ebert with BIG FISH. I .
Siskel is the worst
Wow, those two are useless. People on TH-cam provide better reviews.
