I think it was the combination of his confidence, the right answers and humbleness AND his second performance that made Simon see the potential in him. Harry really is smart, ambitious and a hard worker. He was not that good to begin with, but who is at the age of 16? He has done the work, and learned to master his art.
Totally agree. When the track faded in, he only had about 2 seconds to work out his starting note. I think if they played it from further back (like at least 2 bars before the chorus), he would have picked the correct key without any issues.

I don't know if people realize how amazing this footage is. I mean: I don't recall any single girl in my high-school years that didn't adore this guy.
