  • This is a walking tour of the Grand Bavaro Princes from lobby to beach and more. The resort is extremely large, The walk to the beach from the lobby and Family Club is about 10-15 minutes at a leisurely pace. Most of the A la Cartes restaurants are all located in the Lobby section aside from the Steak, Seafood, and Mexican restaurants located at near the beach. This video was taken in March, 2023. Enjoy!

      We had one rainy afternoon (quick short down pours). Temperature was around 28C during the day and 26C at night.
      Food was good. We ate at the buffet, pizza, Italian, Indian, Teppenyaki, Sushi, and Mexican!

    Great video. Please tell me this. I have knee issues and going up and down stairs is a problem with me. Does this resort have facilities in place (elevators, ramps, golf carts etc) to help me get everywhere I might want to go? (ie: from room to restaurants, beach, pool etc..) Thanks so much, Steve S.

    • @ThePaperCupGarden

      Hey Steve,
      My daughter also has issues with stairs and long distances.
      From the video you can see what ramps the lobby and main area has. I think it is pretty accessible.
      There is a frequent shuttle that runs from Beach to the lobby. I posted a video of the shuttle ride if you want to check it out.
      During dinner time it is quite full and I found many guests to be very inconsiderate. Since my daughter is slow many guests ran to get a seat ahead of her and refused to get off. The resort could do better at prioritizing people who need the service.
      I don't recall any elevators, I would request a main floor suite if you have trouble with stairs.
      We stayed in the family club so it was next to the lobby. I imagine there is a porter service to help guests with luggage at check in and out.

    How many resorts are connected to each other? Did you have access to the different resorts? Also, is this the resort that you see when entering Dolphin Discovery?

    • @ThePaperCupGarden
      @ThePaperCupGarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      This was one resort. There are 2 areas, and 3 tiers. The 3 tiers would be Family Club, Platinum, and regular. The 2 areas are Family Club and main resort. Family Club guests can access both areas. Platinum and regular guest cannot visit the Family Club area. Platinum has an exclusive pool, restaurant, and beach area.
      We did not visit Dolphin Island, but if I'm not mistaken, Google Maps puts it close to Barcelo Bavaro Palace

    Which do you recommend for a family of 5, kids 11,9,5. Between Princess Family club & Barcelo Bavaro Family Club?

    • @ThePaperCupGarden
      @ThePaperCupGarden  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a tough one. We are a family of 5 as well with the same ages(11,8,5).
      Keep in mind that my review is comparing GBP now to BBP Dec 2021 (Covid).
      First there is a lot more to do at the BBP. The water park is bigger, there is mini golf and there is the extra charge pirate/wave pool (we had one visit/guest included).
      Next BBP room were nice with separate sleeping area, but only 3 beds and the sofabed was in the master.
      GBP rooms were nice to have 4 separate beds and the swim out option is great! Both rooms felt crowded.
      Food and service was far better at GBP. It also included an a la carte restaurant for every night.
      At BBP the service was horrible and slow. Our youngest (4 at the time) fell asleep at the table most nights waiting for dinner. Only 3 a la carte meals were included with the BBP package (But they still have us 7)
      The beach is much better at GBP, but far from the family club. However the shuttle runs frequently.
      All that said our children only wanted to use the swim out pool at GBP. The 11 and 8 year old showed no interest in the water park. They only wanted to play video games and watch movies in the kids club. And as such the youngest wanted the same. They were younger and loved the water park at BBP.
      In conclusion both were fun.
      If you can't get a Swimout room at GBP and you can forgive bad service, there is more to do at the BBP.
      But with a swim out room and great service at GBP you won't notice anything missing.

      @@mikep509 our youngest was 6 on this trip. It is a beautiful family area. But our young ones have lost interest in these splash pads. All 3 of our kids didn't use the water park to make it worth booking another trip around entertaining they kids.

      Short answer, No. Long answer... Kind of
      There is a Disco Club and located inside Avalon Casino. Entrance may be included, but drinks are charged separately.
      I only visited the casino once and I'm don't think the club was open. Also being outside the resort gates the casino area felt a bit sketchy.

    This is a ridiculously huge hotel, lots of time and effort wasted walking, Trolley does NOT come around frequently.

    • @ThePaperCupGarden
      @ThePaperCupGarden  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes it is a large property! This is a resort and much of the space is dedicated to habitation.
      I found the trolley adequate most of the time, but quite busy during dinner and hard to get a seat.
      Some guests were rude and impatient. As there is no line, only a crowds that gathers. One of our party has mobility issues so we would show up early only to be beaten to a seat by someone "running late" for their reservation.
      The driver could do better at letting those with disabilities board first.
