Congratulations on predicting the winner! Your analysis of all the books is really interesting and I really appreciate the time and effort you book into the books. Btw have you done a video on your fave magical realism books - or would you consider it?
I finally finished a prize list book before the big reveal. 🎉 It was Silver Bone--so not a short-lister--but I enjoyed it well enough. Works better as historical fiction than as a straight up mystery, but I'd picked it up for its time and place, so it worked out. Kairos sounds like a good pick for the win, but I don't think I'll be tackling it anytime soon. Same with Mater 2-10, though it at least sounds really interesting to me. Not a River or The Details are more likely near term reads.
I’ve only read 2-1/2 (Not a River, The Details, still reading What I’d Rather Not Think About). Of the three, I am rooting for The Details. I do plan to finish the shortlist-Kairos is up next for me. I’m excited to see who wins.
Congratulations on correctly predicting the winning book! Based on this video I have a hold on Kairos at my library, and I'm glad I got in line before the win.
Interesting video and prediction. I have no idea who's going to win. If I were voting, I would give it to Mater 2-10. I think you're right about its ambition and the scope of the narrative. However, you set out very good reasons for KAIROS for winning the prize. I just hope it's Mater 2-10 because it would be nice for Korean literature to get the spotlight.
Great video Gretchen! I’m also hoping for Kairos! I could make an argument for all of the shortlist books, so will be interesting to see what the judges choose.
Gretchen, you should be on the panel. Such thoughtful analysis.

I am rooting for Crooked Plow!
Me too!
Great to hear your thoughts and think I agree with your prediction. I just finished Not a River yesterday and I loved it too
This year was really tough! All of the books were great and each could have won and I would have been happy.

This was SO much fun to watch, Gretchen. Whew. Here we go!
Thanks!!! I was so glad to see Kairos win!

Thanks!!!! I’m glad you got that hold in early and I hope you like it.

This year had a solid shortlist and I agree that any of them could have won. Cheers for Kairos though!!!
Hello, thank you for the video. Isn't Crooked Plow translated from Portuguese...?
Yes.
Yes, you are correct! Thanks for keeping me honest! ☺️
