That was a long time ago. Allen is completely different than it was when Kyler Murray was there. They aren’t getting the athletes they used to, especially with all the new developments popping up around Allen. Allen is basically becoming old news, whereas as the newer areas are where everyone is moving to. It’s basically what happened to Plano when Allen was on the up and coming. Desoto and duncanville do recruit, but they don’t typically have as many top 100 players like Bosco and Mayer Dei. Even though Bosco only has 1 top 100 recruit for 2025 they already have several in the 2026 and 27 classes. If you count the 2025, 26 and 27 classes, Duncanville and Desoto only have 2-3 each. Whereas Mayer Dei has 10+ and Bosco has 7. So yes Texas schools do recruit to an extent but not quite as much as Mater Dei and Bosco. In fact you’d be surprised how many Duncanville and DeSoto players actually come from the South Dallas area.

Duncanville lost 45-3 to Mater Dei and blew everyone o t in Texas until they got to the Texas state title game and lost 17-14...they ended the year 14-2

They figure they're stuck playing them in the playoffs, so just wait until then. It's the same in Texas, I'm sure. Who's lining up to take on Duncanville, SLC or Desoto if they don't really have to? The talent disparity is too great.

There are at least 1300 schools in texas that play football. When California and Texas match the top 50 regardless of class in each state to play their opposite the state that has the most wins will have bragging rights but we know that won't happen.
They were NEVER allowed to leave the state of Texas i think this the first TX team ever to play outside of TX they must have passes a rule this year allowing teams to leave the state for out of conference games…

De La Salle, for example, has a stadium that can max out at 6000 seats for a nationally televised game. That's probably half or less than the same game at Euless Trinity. So DLS traveled. No other state can pack the stands like Texas.

Texas football is more about their EGO and protecting it...not about going out and SEEING how good they are..California teams love COMPETITION...if you beat them they just mov eon...when you beat a Texas or Florida team their egos and self esteem get hurt
To learn how a top program does things. To watch and observe and get some tactics that Bosco uses and integrated that into your coaching. Makes your program better. Also it is a great experience for the kids many have never been to California. It's a great time to bond as a team.
What the other guys said, plus Eastwood’s coach said that they have to travel far to the eastern part of TX every yr during the playoffs, and usually to play a really good school; so coach wanted to give the kids a similar opportunity before the playoffs this year. They made it to the final 16 of TX’s largest classification last season, so they’re a decent team; just not national good.
