Take a walk over the Byram Swinging Bridge in Byram, MS.
The Byram Swinging Bridge was built in 1905 by residents of Hinds and Rankin Counties to serve local farmers.
The bridge has a 20 foot wide arched tensile wooden deck, 25 foot steel towers and is 360 feet in length.
It is one of four swinging bridges in Mississippi.
The Byram Swinging Bridge was placed on the national register of historic places in 1979. It closed to vehicular traffic in 1987.
