Tim. I have a BK1 and am currently using a 8 inch tablet. Samsung Galaxy Tab A. I had installed a 7 inch but that one had an older operating system and wouldn't run all my apps. Also the 8 inch tablet makes a world of difference in visual clarity.

Automatelt loads dash command just fine but only to main screen, not the dashboard. Also when I’m on dashboard, the tablet will not go to sleep unless I completely back out of dash command. Keeps trying to connect to bt so tablet consider it a action.
The actual stock usb and aux part do not work with an aftermarket radio. I have a usb extension running from the USB port on the back of the radio to area around my shifter. For power for the tablet I have the usb charging cable running behind the center console and through the little covered storage area where the usb/aux port are. That cable is plugged directly into the cars aux power port in that same area. Hope this helps!

Especially the wrapping because goodness I do not have the same detailing capability I’ve seen you put into your set up it’s just beautiful man.
Have you ever had a problem with the cigarette charger being plugged in when the cars off and running the battery down over night? Sometimes with my car(Jeep Grand Cherokee) if I leave something plugged in it can drain the battery.
You can use an 8 in tablet, i have a samsung tab a 8.0 (2019)in my Genny. I am running the idata link maestro rr with a Kenwood head unit and ac read out partially works. I can see real-time temperature number and partially can see what mode the ac is at. I was inspired by your install video, great content 👌 👍
Hey man I was looking at doing this as well. I was interested in some Kenwood models. Do you mind telling me what model you are using? I'm wondering if it's model specific or if Kenwood as a whole gets a partial read out of the climate control.

I have an a6 Samsung I have it set to shut down after 5 seconds like you do. If dashcommand is on the screen won’t shut off. If I exit out it will go ahead and shut down. From what I’ve seen I’ll have to root to get the option to kill the app. It doesn’t look like you have that problem right?
I’ve finished my install. Thanks for your help. It looks and works amazing. One question though, what do you do when the tablet runs out of charge? Do you have to pop it out and hit the power button to turn it back on?
Unfortunately yes. The downside of the Samsung tablet I use is that it doesn’t charge fast enough off of the cars power. Usually at least once a month I have to pull it out and charge it in the house.
Hey Tim is your tablet still working properly? I had mine done professionally and the 2 issues I have had was the battery on the tablet dying. Car is not my daily drive so I bought an battery back up to keep the tablet charged when I am not driving the car. The second issue I am having and have not solved it yet is my Nexus 7 tablet breaks communication with the OBD 2 scanner I have a pioneer head unit too and iPhone 12 Pro I have tried several OBD scanners. Any suggestions how to fix this?
i have a question about the Maestro ADS-MSW, I don't mind losing steering wheel control. However, if that piece is important to the tablet mod then i will get it, or is that piece optional, if i don't mind losing steering wheel control?

If you don't mind spending a few hundred dollars there is a company called workshop 12 developing a kit for genesis to remove your head unit and use a table to interface with your ac controls. workshoptwelve.com/genesis/
@@TrainerCTZ you could use an app on the tablet to show the outside temperature. But then you need wifi. I'm starting soon with a tablet and 2Din DAB+ radio install and will use my phone as a wifi hotspot for the tablet. Still no A/C control then. But it's a good option.
Hey Tim, I'm pretty sure you didn't do this but do you know anything about retaining climate control on an aftermarket head unit using the maestro RR adapter? Apparently some head units have idatalink compatibility and can display climate control on them. thus fixing the problem of no CC display

Workshop 12 sells a vehicle specific set up. Mk 1.7 electronics. Gives the tablet power and shows the hvac display on the tablet as well.

You have to run your wires for the speakers to the amp located behind your rear seat rather than hooking them to the harness speaker wires in the car.
Do u have to do the tablet portion for example just change the radio but not the tablet

Nope. I used a high strength double sided tape on the inside of the bezel.

Nope. That outlet only gets power when the car is turned on.

So an 8” tablet works for it? I’ve seen people saying that you must use a 7” only. But if an 8inch works I’ll go for that.

It’s only if you want the steering wheel controls. Otherwise the setup works fine without it. You just won’t have the steering wheel controls.
Do you still need to do all of the usb splitting if you only add the bottom screen?

I use Dash Command which runs about $10. It’s well worth it though.

Nope. The stock wire plugs right into the back of the new radio.
Now you gotta add a backup camera

I believe any 7 invh tablet will do. I've seen people put in nexus 7, acer tablets, for me I'm looking to put in a Lenovo Tab 7. Hope this helps.

At the time the HPS was less expensive and I was on a budget. Not much difference between the two. Same K&N filter on the end.

You need the AutomateITpro app. That lets you set all of the perimeters for auto on and off with startup

You’d need some low voltage wire like a 18 or 22 gauge. I’d use different colors to keep everything organized and identifiable.

Great feedback. I didn’t put in specific mid roll ads. I’ll take a look at it and select my ad points which will hopefully reduce them.
