@@morgane2239 yea, but I honestly didn’t think he was THAT bad, I just really don’t understand why the keep casting him to be in every movie musical lol
“Meryl Streep singing a song called It’s Not About Me when it is so completely about her is one of the funnest things I’ve ever watched” tell them James Corden. It’s Meryl Streep’s world and we’re just living in it ♥️💯
James Corden did a great job. I was kinda worried if he can do Barry's character smoothly, but then his performance was above my expectation. I sob a lot the entire show, it just can't be helped :')
i truly didn’t expect much from him from the trailer but he was great, the scene with him and dee dee in their hotel room where he was crying about his parents was perfection
Right! I enjoyed him way more than I was expecting to, and I'm one of the (probably very few) people who didnt hate him in Into the Woods... but like damn James Corden where did this come from?
This for me is another film like Mamma Mia, sure there are plently of things to be crictal about but at the end of the day its fun, moving, catcy and has Meryl Streep, so whats not to be loved. Definetly gonna rewatch this at least once a year.
The first half is like a new season of glee, the second half was something more... it was about acceptance and feeling like you've got a place in the world, no matter who you like! Everyone should watch this! And the part when the principal says that even straight people could enjoy musicals is so true... I can relate! 😂 🤣
You did it Netflix, Ryan and the actors!!! It worked!!! AWESOME JOB!!! Translating such a great piece of musical into a movie isn't easy ... but you all made it work. Great movie!!
Just watched this movie again for the fourth time. I always have a deep soul cry and get something new out of it each time. As a gay woman who has struggled with being her authentic self, Emma’s journey is an epically healing story for me. Barry’s journey is also incredibly beautiful. Every detail of this movie is spellbinding perfection. Much gratitude to Ryan Murphy and all of the creators and cast for this masterpiece.
i don’t think ariana grande was ever actually going to be in this movie in the first place, people just saw the name ariana and assumed no need to tear her down
I was disappointed we barely saw the teen romance I felt like dee dee and the principal romance was longer than the actual teens. Also the Emma break up moment was so weird Emma kept smiling.
IT WAS SO GOOD! All I missed was the last part of You Happened with that cute Alyssa and Emma moment, and the WE'RE ALL LESBIANS shirts on Acceptance Song. Two iconic moments that would've made it even more perfectttt
my only question is: IS THERE THE EXTENDED VERSION OF YOU HAPPEND? Or to put it better, full version cause that last verse is literally the heart of the song....
Aw, they did a great job. It was so fun. I never would have expected that ensemble, especially not Key and Streep as love interests, but they were fantastic. I just adore Andrew Rannells - all of them, actually. It had me tearing up at parts, too. Well done. Another feather in Ryan Murphy’s cap.
I saw the Broadway show about a year and a half ago in NYC, and I can't wait to watch the movie tonight! It looks like they did a great job of capturing the spirit of the show.
I’ve watched it 4 times now, I’m in love with all the actors and James corden was a stand out for me. Definitely deserves a lot more recognition due to the positive message it conveys into at the end.
OMG PLEASE give us a long long long behind the scenes special of this movie pleaseeee just the rehearsals and the recording of the songs must have been EPIC!!! (Btw we need video evidence of Meryl Streep rapping) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
When I watched the first trailer, I really thought they should've casted someone younger than Jo. Then, I saw the second trailer and the emotional bits she was in were just great.
This musical blew me away! The passion that these actors possessed and they all just had amazing chemistry together. The message of wanting to be accepted was just so pure and simple. It was a really inspiring musical! I have watched it 5 times and can't wait to watch it 5 more times. No matter whether I'm listening to the soundtrack on TH-cam or watching it on Netflix, I bawl like a baby during the part where Alysa sees her Mom at the dance near the end. I can't help it, the tears of joy spill over like a broken faucet after the main characters are finally accepted and loved for who they are. Im a parent, and though my girls are straight, I have always instilled in them that everyone matters and love is love, its not gender specific to a man and woman. LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS MUSICAL!
The movie is so good. From the original broadway last year, to a netflix film, it is just amazing to see this span, to be enjoyed by a wider audience and of course, watch the broadway musical after.
I saw The Prom during its pre-Broadway run in Atlanta and loved it. I've been super excited since hearing it was being made into a movie. What they did to expand on Barry's character had me sobbing HARD. So great!
This movie brings me so much joy! I've watched it 3 times, twice on the day after if came out (which is the first day I watched it) and I loved it so much. I hope a lot of other movie musicals in progress are taking notes.
I just watched the movie last night. The Prom went slightly below my expectations! I would have liked it more if Emma/Alyssa and the quartet of Broadway stars were given equal character focus. But the messages, music, high energy and performances were redeeming enough. The MVPs are of course Meryl as Dede and Jo as Emma!
PROMise to watch this amazing movie again and again. Every performance was masterful. The scenic design, photography epic. And what about Tracey Ullman and James Corden together! With Broadway dark and the mood of this country even darker, this is exactly what I needed ❤ today!

It makes me so happy and slightly overwhelmed to see a film where everyone seemed to have the time of their lives, gave everything and produced one of the best film adaptations of a musical. After the flaming dumpster fire this year has been this is exactly what we all needed 😊
There are some movies that we should just watch it for fun and just for entertainment! We dont need to have always an intellectual movie! I loved it, it was fun to watch
I loved the movie. I haven't seen the musical but it made me so curious so I started watching clips of the original show. It has so much heart and man, Meryl knocked both of her songs out of the park.
I loved the movie so so so much, now I'm gonna watch it again, again and again!!! Will you ever release a full version of YOU HAPPENNED? I just wish we'd seen Emma and Alyssa do their part on the film too!!

When Meryl Streep looses a house to Emma and she screams "You owe me a house" was hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
