Great game. John Taylor was such a badass for the Niners back then. Great athlete and one of the toughest receivers in the league. One of my favorite all time 49ers. Met him once at a sports memorabilia show a few years back. Really cool guy. I remember reading a quote about him by Jerry rice that said, "I don't get it, he doesn't put in the work that I do, eats ho ho's but he's just as good as I am."
49ers were definitely the team of the '80s, winning as many as 4 Super Bowls that decade (although the 4th Super Bowl win was on January 1990, but part of the '89 NFL season, which is why, in my opinion, still counts as one of 4 Super Bowl win in the '80s). However, it seems like the 49ers are a better team on the road than at home (particularly in the '80s).
@@VinylSpotlight77Mahomes wouldn’t know what to do if he had to actually read a defense that could blitz without any hesitation. Then that kid wouldn’t know what to do if he was hit hard and low. These modern day QBs suck.
I feel like the Oilers in that era were always a piece or two away from a Championship caliber team. They were missing a tight end on offense and one or two good linebackers on defense. Moon was more than capable of winning the big one. They had lousy playcalling and were like Dan Fouts and the chargers in the early to mid 80's. All passing, minimal running, and no crossing routes on third down. The Oilers should of adopted Walsh's west coast style offense. Dumping passes to your running backs. The Oilers always had big bruising backs, but did not have the finese back. They needed a finese back with a tight end and they would of won a superbowl.
